Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. ~John F. Kennedy's Inaugural Address given Jan. 20, 1961.
May we hear similar words today.
Edited to Add: It was a well-written inaugural speech, beautifully delivered. All that's left is for us all to live up to it.

We had no idea. None. We were bamboozled from the get-go. Even those who voted for this administration had no idea. All recent polls show that the majority of people are unhappy with every aspect of government except for one startling thing: approval ratings for "the man" himself. What an incredible level of disconnect proving this — people are "in love," infatuated with the personna. This shows intellectual disingenuousness at its highest levels. Those who engage in this sort of hero worship are involved in dangerous thinking because they place their opinion above that of the facts.
This former post will now become the repository for all things political and, yes, there will be some sort of button located on my sidebar to allow my readers to find it. I do it for my own sense of well-being. Sometimes one must speak.

* Obama, the African Colonial written by a woman who had this to say: Before I continue, I need to say this: I am a first generation born West African-American woman whose parents emigrated to the U.S. in the 1970's from the country now called Nigeria. I travel to Nigeria frequently. I see myself as both a proud American and as a proud Igbo (the tribe that we come from -- also sometimes spelled Ibo). Politically, I have always been conservative (though it took this past election for me to commit to this once and for all!); my conservative values come from my Igbo heritage and my place of birth. Of course, none of this qualifies me to say what I am about to -- but at the same time it does.
