Campanula

What a nice spot of color my little bucket of Campanula provides on such a rainy, gray day.

It's all thanks to my sister who arrived home with gifts—the plant and a can of peppermint hot chocolate from Trader Joe's. Hmmm, the peppermint hot chocolate is very tasty.

I'm off to create a runner for a fussy little spot. Catch you later...

ETA: Whoops! Forgot to mention one little thing. How does this background look to you? I read somewhere that wide three column backgrounds worked well with stretch minima templates. I was getting so tired of the bland stuff available for stretch minima. It looks great on my screen, though I'm learning that what looks fine here may not look so fine on another's computer.

ETA Again:

Thanks for the input...as you can see, the post text is all on the background in my world. Not so for the sidebar, but not completely awful. I will be going back to the drawing board tomorrow. I'll just enjoy it for myself today. Shoot! Shoot! Shoot! Hope that some of the background sites will pick up doing more minima stretch backgrounds. Most of the ones I have found are just too blah. Yes, Aunt Amelia, I know not to mess with the template. I like minima stretch just fine and will use a plain background before switching it. Again, thanks for telling me the truth!! :D
NOT AGAIN! Say, does this new spacing for text work?
NOT AGAIN again...
I've learned a few things while playing today. It's all about screen resolution, Baby. The easy way to control screen resolution is to press the Ctrl button while rolling the little gizmo on top of one's mouse. I'll be able to enjoy anyone's blog knowing this. If words spill over on the side, I'll rein them in. If font is too small, I'll increase it. Phew! I hope that I've found a background that isn't too obtrusive and still fills my need for change. Thanks for the help!

  1. Vee, that Campanula is so springy and uplifting! Wonderful gift :)

The new background is very pretty, but on my 13" macbook, the post text is hanging off the page, and onto the green background, which is a little difficult to read. It may just be my computer, but I thought I'd let you know. Not that I'd let that stop me from visiting... :-)

Have a blessed and peaceful weekend!

  2. Hi Vee...yes, it's true that different screen sizes and the different browsers (firefox/internet explorer/safari), will all display a blog differently.

I didn't know that until I started to rework my blog a few years ago.

The writing does overlap on each side into the green edges...but it is a pretty background.

  3. Morning Vee! I'm so glad to hear that you are finding some bright spots amidst the gray days. Your photo looks so bright and cheerful.
The hot chocolate sounds delish. I love Trader Joe's.
As for the new background, I think it looks very pretty and spring-like, but the text on both sides is overlapping into the green. It makes it a bit harder to read at times.
    Wishing you a good weekend.

  4. Hi Vee! The campanula is beautiful! Peppermint hot chocolate is sounding pretty good this morning instead of the usual coffee, too!

Ditto what Niki said. It's hard to read the text on the background (which I DO love - so appropriate for this time of year!) If they'd make it more faded out it'd be great! I think laptops are just wider than a PC screen, and that may be why it does that. Might be fine on my work PC. It's really pretty anyway!

    Have a cuppa for me!

  5. -sigh- Sorry to be a wet blanket but...... Your words bleed into both the left side and the right side of this Background edge.

It looks way toooooooooooo busy, for Vee.

If you changed Templates on New Blogger, do you know that you may not be able to get our *beloved* olddddddddd Stretch Minima back???? That is why I have never tried any experiments [with New Blogger templates] on my main blog.

Did so, on my testing blogs and lost Stretch Minima. -pout-

    You asked. I said.

  6. Hi Vee,
    The flowers are beautiful....

As for the background it is pretty, but on my 22 inch screen the words are running out of the white area and into the green on both sides and it is hard to read.
    Hugs,
    Penny

  8. I love your sweet little pot of cheer, looks great sitting by the painting! I like the new look too. Part of the green text is on the green background on the left of my screen and is a little hard to see but it could be my computer, not sure. Have a cheerful weekend!

I hope you have a most wonderful day today!

  10. Sounds like we're all in agreement! Love the new background, but it's a bit hard to read because it goes off the edge. Maybe darken the color of the font or resize the area so the posts fit within the cream color of your back ground! Your flowers are beautiful by the way!

  11. The flowers are beautiful...and of course the painting beside them. Thanks for sharing what you are learning on blog design, I am still at a loss for how all this is done.

  12. Your new blog background is spring-like and fresh, a perfect complement to the campanulas.

I hope you show us your runner when it's done. The fact that you're up and doing is a good sign.

Oh, and I have to say that I have the same few words hanging over the edge of the post as others have mentioned. But it doesn't prevent me from reading.

  13. The words hang over the edge onto the green boarder too. I made your blog narrower, the green boarder went away but I could read the words.

  14. Hi Vee,
Your Campanula is beautiful, and the bucket i dearly love. Beautiful color. .

I am seeing a gray background, I am sure you are working on it. You always figure out what to do, and I will reserve my opinion when I see your finished product.
    Enjoy your day,
    Hugs,
    Sue

  15. You're all seeing such different things that I don't think that I'll be able to work it out. Guess it'll be back to dull and boring by tomorrow. Thanks for the vote of confidence anyway!

  16. Your campanula plant is so pretty! I love their color!

I have the same problem as everyone else, Vee. Your words are left justified and run into the decorative design.

It's sunny here today and all our snow might finally melt! I sense Spring might be right around the corner! :D

  17. Hi Vee, every time I write that I think of one of my fav grocery stores called HyVee...:D Yeah, I know..I have a weird sense of humor.

Your flowers are beautiful and so is the bucket they are sitting in. What a sweet sister you have!

I see the words are running over into the pretty borders on both sides. But I'm glad to see that the 3 column background will fit my blog nicely. I've been afraid to try it out. Sometimes I prefer plain to backgrounds. Other times I like backgrounds. And then I figured how to change the background color, but sometimes I like just plain ole white.

    Have a good weekend! Cheryl

  18. I think it's super, that you want to add some zing to your blog. Very new for you and new is sooooooo coooool.

And I understand the bit about Stretch Minima stuff being boring. But........ You don't HAVE to have a busy/loud/colorful Background, to increase the "Pizzzazzzzzzzz" on your blog.

You can play with colors. Print and edging and here and there and etc. And you can put "punchy-er" pics up, on your blog. In entries and on Sidebar.

Just a thought... 'Cause Oh do I ever understand the need for CHANGE. In fact, all this chatter here, may have pushed me off my quiet, Spring-like mode!

Watch out!!!!!!!! I may start fully channeling my "Mrs. Bradley" persona muse! >,-)

  19. Vee,
The campanula is perfect in the white bucket. I'm enjoying it, too!

  20. Your blog looks the same on my screen as it does on yours. I've noticed only 1 blog that I have to adjust ea time to look at. The photos are so large I almost get a headache and the words all run off and I have to move the bottom bar.
Sooo, I just go to VIEW at the top toolbar and adjust the size. Then everything looks normal. Of course, when I leave, I have to reset the VIEW in order to see the other blogs. :)

  21. Ok.....I'm ignorant I guess, I've never heard of a Campanula plant, but it's beautiful...and I love the container. The painting, the part I can see......it's so pretty!!

Your blog looks good from my computer..... I love the soft pink.
