A Haven for Vee

Finished!

Late in the afternoon, John finished the last row on the house. (The garage will wait for spring.) A mighty cheer rose up when it was accomplished now let me tell you.

Both men, John working on the house and our neighbor working on the fallen limb, labored all day long and in the end, both succeeded.

Now all that's needed is a storm door (waiting in the garage), weather stripping for said door (waiting on the bed), a wreath upon the door (waiting at Wal*Mart), and a snow storm right on cue and we'll have ourselves a cozy little home like this...

Thank you for your good thoughts and prayers for my niece. This procedure went the best of the three prior. That's right, I got the number wrong so this was her fourth time not her third. She's giving the tranquilizer she accepted all the glory; I'm giving God all the glory. ☺

Another happy day to you!

  2. Hi Vee! I'm glad John got the siding on the house before the real cold and snow of winter arrives. I like the scalloped trim part way up. It looks sweet and will be pretty when the storm door and wreath are added. Do you think you'll get snow for Christmas. It's going to be mostly green here but not in northern Alberta where we'll be :) Have a lovely day!

  3. I read this in a comment elsewhere! Wonderful! Oh John must be so relieved! You too, but... You know what I mean. :-)

And he/you were so lucky with the weather! Well, no snow anyway. But awful COLD! There was the Little Ice Age in Europe. Me'thinks we are having a Little Ice But No Snow Age, here.

Thank you for enjoying my post today! Yes, I am a "Merry Christmas-er"! All those ding-dang-Politically-Correct-Police, telling us that we MUST say "Happy Holidays." Bahhhh-humbug on them!!! I will not be told what I MUST say. "Auntie" sezzzzz! ,-)

  4. And I took the opportunity to say "what I believe." It flowed quite nicely. And it does feel GOOD, to be able to SAY IT, on my blog.

Everyone else claims the right to do so. Mostly Christians, in Pretty Blog Land.

But one never sees anyone in Pretty Blog Land, mention such words as "I am not a Christian". Eeeeeeeeeek! -giggles- Or "I am not Jewish or Pagan" either. -double Eeeeek-

Well, the proverbial ice has been broken. Perhaps some others will be emboldened to "open up." :-)

    Freeeeeeeeeeedom!!!! Let it ring!!!!

  5. I began reading this post thinking that "finished" meant Christmas shopping or wrapping or baking. But this is even a better "finished."

Oh, Vee, your house looks wonderful! I know firsthand how it feels to have a big project completed...especially when completed by a DIY husband. A combination of relief, joy, accomplishment, satisfaction that you did not break the bank. Kudos to both of you for your tenacity and hard work!

Happy to hear that your niece's surgery went well. And I will join you in giving God the glory!

Merry Christmas to two very special people.

  11. Like, Cheryl, I thought the title was for a post telling you are ready for Christmas. But finishing the siding done is huge! So glad was able to get it done before more winter weather could set in.

  12. We are all happy to John to say DONE! What a fantastic job of that siding. It is such a nice color and that trim is so pretty.

  13. I know there is a name for the trim on the siding. Is it gingerbread? I love the look.

Now, what is John's winter project? I can imagine that he has something wonderful in mind.

What a special gift to give your niece...being with her for this surgery. It's a busy time of year and for you to take a day to do this must have meant so very much to her.

  19. Big round of applause to the carpenter! Fabulous job! Your home is just beautiful inside and out just like you!

At first I was totally not going to click on this post, I thought you were going to say you were done getting ready for Christmas and I just don't need that kind of discouragement today ;c) I'll be done about the time it gets here I guess.

    Have a cozy afternoon!

  24. YAY!!! John and you must be so relieved that the exterior work is done on your house in time for Christmas and before the snowstorm that may hit this weekend. It looks very pretty. I like how your exterior stairs are moveable to allow John ladder clearance. My husband struggles so much with putting up our ladder to clean the gutters as our back porch is in the way.

I clicked on your cute house graphic and it was snowing! Adorable!

  25. Oh Vee, your house looks wonderful - Love the scallops! John did such a great job - I still I could hire him for some jobs I have around my place! I know you both are glad to have that done before the hard weather sets in. Great job!

Glad your niece's surgery went well, too. Hope healing is quick and pain-free. I'm giving God the glory with you!

I missed this post, but I have to comment on your home.
I love the scalloping details with the siding. John has done such a great job. And you did good on those color choices too.
Please don't forget you don't have any steps right now and step out that door! And is that door wider than most? It sure looks like it.
    Sweet Dreams!
