Of Crafting and Photo Taking

The photo of my dining table at dusk is the next to the last one you'll see from here for a while. Amazingly, it turned out okay, but just prior to that and for the afternoon all pictures had horizontal lines running across them like the one below plus they're overexposed and I can no longer adjust my apertures. Oh great, make a liar out of me, little picture. Perhaps the lines are better seen on my car fender or perhaps my car just needs a trip through the car wash.

By the way, if a blogger talks to her pictures, is she crazy? Don't answer that! Perhaps you can see it better if I enlarge the photo.

I can see the lines. Can you?

(And what's going on with not being able to enlarge photos to take a good look at them anymore? Did Blogger run out of room? Do YOU know the secret? If so, pray tell.)

Next weekend, my sister and I, and any of the following generation, are going to have some craft time. I am thinking of two crafts. This *Snowbird Ornament Tutorial* from Miss Sandy at Quill Cottage and this *Mitten Tutorial* from Dawn at The Feathered Nest. Both of these delightful bloggers are offering their tutorials free of charge with some guidelines that you'll want to check on. The Mittens could become a sweet garland similar (only better) to my own. It would have an elegant Victorian look over the country look. I'm going to find out! =) The Snowbird is so lovely. Please go check!

Soooo, where was I? Oh yes,  next time you see me, it'll be cute graphics all the way. Sigh.

Stay cozy!

  2. I do see the lines, but I'm clueless. The pictures are still lovely. The graphic shows the reason why we enjoy the four seasons - winter is cozy!

  3. Golly, *Honey Bun,* you read/commented on my Sat. post, before I remembered to add the wish for a Happy Full Moon Before Yule, or Full Long Night's Moon or Full Cold Moon. :-)

Better make John something, without tooooooooooo much Sat/Fat. Sorry you are being *forced* into this. But men can look pathetic, when they want to, hu? -giggles-

    Now!!! To read your post!!!

  4. It's perfectly normal to talk to our pictures! And our cameras. And our monitors. Otherwise, how would we ever keep-them-in-line??? ,-)

I've seen those malicious little lines. When I print something, and my printer is running out of ink. Which means nothing here, just saying.

Hey if Blogger won't let a reader enlarge photos --- All the more reason for me to post mine in a BIG size. :-)

SORRY YOUR CAMERA QUIT! But what a purrrrrrrrrrrfect time of year, for it to do so!!!!!!!!!! -hint- -hint- -hint- -Santa, HINT- ,-)

Also a perfect time of year, to have to use Graphics. There are many pretty and free ones out there. :-)

  5. I commiserate with you on the camera issues - you know I have my own! I do see the lines...

Thanks for those tutorials! So sweet and I am loving the mittens in particular! I have some of that batting, and I think Rachel, Sarah and Kyle will enjoy this craft!

    Have a lovely day!

  7. Vee,

Thank you for the sweet mention and link. Yes, I see the lines too, wonder what is causing that? And yes, someone, anyone please! tell us how to look at photos larger in Blogger. Do you think they have had complaints from people not wanting their photos viewed larger or saved? Anyway, that is a worry for another day. I hope yours is filled with coziness too!

  8. I see the fine lines, Vee...maybe Santa will stick a new camera in your stocking...? Hope so, cause a blogger without a camera is like ....well....
    a day without sunshine...or ....
love without marriage...or...me without you.!! :))

Just be careful using graphics off the net. Just heard from a blogger not long ago that had to take some off her posts...like I did. bummer

  9. Vee, I don't think my old eyes see the lines. I see better in the afternoon than in the morning.

Your decorations are lovely. I think a lot of us talk about our pictures, troulbe with our cameras and posting. I know I do.

Your home is truely a haven for comfort and love. It feels so nice to visit your blog.

  10. Are you saying it is your camera that is giving you grief...or Blogger? Good luck with that! We know a blogger must have a camera at all times.

Have a fun crafting party! Will we get to see the finished products? Maybe you can borrow a camera.

  11. I always talk to my pictures too.
I usually say things like.. "My goodness Laura! You DO look lovely today!"... or something similar to that. :)

I see the lines but, only in the enlarged picture-it still looks good and use-able. :)

I wish that I had someone that I could have "craft time" with. That sounds like a lot of fun!

  12. Yes, i see the lines though it is still a pretty picture!
Don't know about the enlarging of the pictures. Maybe its just temporary.

  13. Yes, I see the lines but I had to look closely to see them. Just tell everyone you were going for a textured look!

  14. I can see the very faint lines too. I wonder what's going on? I haven't posted today so haven't tried to upload anything. I'll let you know if I have problems.

  15. I must tell you, your header is giving me all kinds of crafting ideas. :)

  16. I see the lines if I look closely. It's so frustrating when Blogger acts up. I hope everything is ship shape soon. I'm commenting from somewhere over some central u.s. state!

  17. Hi sweet Vee!!! You are always so funny to me!! Yes, I talk to my camera, computer, my artwork...and just about anything that will listen to me! I do see the teeny tiny lines ~ wonder why those are there? I'm sorry about your camera...I've been having a little camera envy right now ~ mine is about four years old and is now about the caliber of a nice cell phone! Oh well...maybe someday I can get a new one ~ Thank you so much for the link love Vee ~ they would make a sweet garland! You could cut up thrift store sweaters to make the mittens too ~ have a great day of creating, hugs and love to you, Dawn

  18. I don't see any lines, Vee, but my eyes aren't that sharp these days. It is a very pretty picture, non-the less.

I love the felt mitten tutorial...it looks easy enough for me to do! Thanks for the link.

  19. I enlarged my screen to see the lines. I hate to give you bad news. I believe you have a sensor going bad. If the camera is still under warranty, then you should send it back for repair. If not, then this is an expensive repair. If you want to send it to a reputable firm for repair or get an estimate, I can advise you further via e-mail. I don't know how expensive of a camera you have or how old it is. All of that factors into the decision. It may be an appropriate time for Santa to bring you a new camera for Christmas!

  20. -clapping hands- Your Sun. Flash Mob was cooooool.

I got 1/2 way through it, and people started standing up and joining in... And I tried to make it Full Screen, so he could see it better... And I lost it.

But it was grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat, what we saw.

Even I love to hear that sort of a rendition. -giggles- How can one not enjoy it??????? That's MUSIC, Baby!

“The grate had been removed from the wide overwhelming fireplace, to make way for a fire of wood, in the midst of which was an enormous log glowing and blazing, and sending forth a vast volume of light and heat; this I understood was the Yule-log, which the Squire was particular in having brought in and illumined on a Christmas eve, according to ancient custom.”

  21. Flash mobs are fun but I could never participate in one, could you? lol

  22. Vee, I always use Windows Live Writer, it's a free down load and easy to use. You write your post in Live Writer and then publish it to your blog. It's much easier to manipulate your photos in too.

I never use blogger to create a post anymore.

  23. I see those fine lines. I wonder what the matter could be. Hopefully, you'll find out and be able to resolve the problem. Graphics are fun, too - and what I really come for is the writing, and catching up with your world.

  24. Just watched the flash mob video it gave me goosebumps.

  25. Hi Vee,
Just been catching up on what you have been doing. I miss a week in blogland come back and find your camera broken, a big limb of your neighbors has fallen, and you confessing to nagging John, to which I plead guilty too, but most of the time it is for his own good. ~grin~

Vee, you have the most warm and inviting home, I have had the privilege to visit, this warmth just flows from the pages of your journal.
I have had the most fun decorating and enjoying this season of love and joy, and I get the same feeling you are too!
    Hugs,
    Sue

  27. I just discovered something the other day about enlarging photos to have a better look.
I have a macbook now and I can enlarge everything on my screen. It is fantastic.
I don't have to rely on blogger to let me click to enlarge.
Their format of putting all the photos together side by side to scroll across seems mostly useless to me.

  28. I'm listening to your Hallelujah post just now! Imagine what that would have been like, surrounded by such singing. Made me think of what it will be like when God calls his saints, just ordinary people like us from out amongst this old world! Won't that be grand?
