Prayer Request for Sam

We had a call at ten last evening. My little grandson Sam fell off his bike around 4:30 yesterday afternoon and broke his femur. He had to have surgery and a plate and screws and whatever is used to repair such breaks. We're all feeling terrible about it and yet we are so grateful that he was not even more badly hurt. It is tough to learn life lessons when you're six. Speeding on your bike (thirteen miles per hour) is not such a good thing.

Thank you for your prayers. We're trusting God to restore Sam to good strong health with strong and healthy bones. Sam's parents are a little frazzled...they could use prayer, too. Grandparents and aunties are a little frazzled...count us in as well.

Sam is home from the hospital and feeling as well as can be expected. The doctor made sure that he could move and function on crutches or with a walker before he was allowed out. Sam told me that he still hurts a lot even though he'd left the hospital. I guess he thought that leaving that place behind was going to mean feeling better instantly. His parents are looking forward to a good night's rest in a bed. They both spent the night with him last night while his little brother stayed with his maternal grandparents.  Little brother was very happy to see his family! Thank you so much for your prayers and concern. We appreciate each and every one.

  1. Vee, I will certainly lift Sam up in prayer, as well as frazzled family members. It is always difficult to see one of our little people hurt or sick, isn't it?
I will also rejoice with you that he wasn't more seriously hurt! When you consider the might-have-beens (~shudder~), it makes your heart melt with gratitude.
    {{Hugs}} for you today...

  2. Ohhhh....I'm so sorry. That hurts in life. Poor little guy. When children and animals are hurt it totally breaks my heart. I pray everything goes right to get him up and running (and riding that bike again) soon.

  3. Oh, Vee, what a tough thing to happen for all concerned. I am praying for everyone, Sam, his parents, you and John.........It is so distressing when anything like this happens to anyone, but to a child it's always worse somehow...

  6. Bless his little heart! We will be praying for him here and I hope he bounces back quickly. Those bicycles make for a lot of fun for the kiddos, but not so much the parents & grandparents!

  11. Oh Dear One, I am so sorry...

Yes, grandchildren breaking bones... It's hard to deal with. But you will. You will.

And Sam will be well taken care of. Medicine like this, is quite marvelous, these days.

Now, if all of you, around him, can regain some peace and calm. Of course you are frazzled. that's only human. But hopefully you'll take deep breaths and........ Be happy it wasn't worse.

    Lots of gentle hugs...

It reminds me of when my older brother broke his leg around the time I was born. He spent many days in the hospital apparently...its just amazing what can be done with modern medicine.
