Iago and a Quiz

Iago?  Can't wait to see the pictures from Alabama and Mississippi today. What crazy weather! So let me know how you fared/are faring. I think that there'll be a whole lot of CoZy going on today as there probably was yesterday. Wonderful breakfasts and hearty lunches. Oh boy. Is anyone having snow ice cream? (I promise that I am going to quit with picking on the Weather Service for naming winter storms right after I finish this post.)

Here's a little quiz for you...

1. Why is a stapler sitting out on the deck rail?

a. Because it causes people (John especially) to wonder
b. Because Vee is trying to be like Jill
c. Because it is black
d. All of the above

(Now if you enjoy snowflake pictures, I hope that you will visit #25 on the last Note Card Party. Incredible!)

2. What's with the carrots? (Please do not pin; they are all over Pinterest; mine are a mess.)

a. Because it causes people to wonder (John didn't even notice)
b. Because Vee wants to do it like this gal did *here*
c. Because they are orange
d. All of the above

OOps! This post wasn't even finished when it hit the front pages. I thought it was sitting in draft. Hmmm...let's see, how was I planning to end this thing...

Guess that I'll do it this way: Enjoy your Friday and your weekend!

Edited to Add: I remembered! (How I was planning to end this.)

  1. The sun is shining here and the temps will be in the 60s today. this after a dreary, rainy, cold (for here) start to the week. The weather system that was here is the one bringing the snow to the NE .... guess we are all related -- in one way or another!

  2. We are having some crazy weather here in the Carolinas. It's been in the upper 70's all week, and last night the temps dropped so drastically that we had snow 2 hours from the coast! Wow, you have some pretty snow there! Definitely cozy, inside weather for you! :) ...and for the record, still wondering about the stapler sitting outside on your rail ...intriguing for sure! ha!

  3. Woke up to -18 C (zero F) this morning then the temperature dropped to -20 after that! I'm too cold to think but I will guess there is reason for you to set a stapler on the deck railing in winter and will guess the answer is (d). The carrot idea is really cute and I may just try that in my stew I'm making for company on Saturday. And I will guess (d) again. I hope you enjoy the day and aren't as cold as we are here. I shouldn't complain a lot as it was +2 yesterday and will be again on Sunday with showers (?). I wonder what they are naming that system. Blessings to you. Pam

  4. Yes, I want to try the carrots - saw that too and pinned it last week!

I'd say the answer to all of the questions is D. All of the above!

The sun is shining right now and I am basking in its glow! Ah....don't know how long it will last but I am going to enjoy it fully!

  5. I would guess D for both but not sure at all. Sun on our very slight powder dust of snow this morning, It will soon melt.

  6. You know my track record with guessing the right answer is pretty bad, but I am going to go ahead and guess D for both questions.
(I usually buy the baby carrots, but this week I purchased whole carrots just so I can make cute hearts in my soup.) :D

  7. Now how long did it take to cut those carrots like that? They are so cute.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'll go with the rest and say "D" for both. You are too cute and so are those carrots.
Thanks for encouraging me on the water proof labels. It is so amazing to see the difference they make. Now, if only I had my camera back from my friend's Maryland house.
And I agree with Rhonda, Your snow is lovely.
    Have a wonderful day.

  9. I'm so glad you shared the heart shaped carrots. I will have to make Rick some soup for Valentine's Day with these little cuties. I'm not sure about the stapler.

  10. Thermometer seems to say -5 or -6, here this AM.

    Brrrrr Babe, brrrrrr....

  11. I go with #D, I must investigate Pinterest, I am told by some that once you go there that you stay way too long...
We are cold but no snow in our area.
    Enjoy your weekend.
    Hugs,
    Sue

  12. Good morning! I would say D for both, though I definitely don't know, haha. And while those carrots are DARLING, I am pretty sure I would never hassle cutting them like that. We are in for a whole week of gorgeous weather here....mid 70's! Enjoy your week-end!

  13. Vee, do I get the feeling you like to purposely confuse poor John? The heart shaped carrots could send a little love message to him. :-)

  14. Gosh, you just started with Pinterest and it's already rotted your brain, LOL! If I tried to do that with carrots, I would have only 9 fingers instead of 10. So my carrots will have to remain round. Better still, I'll continue to leave the cooking to Mister Jim. It's safer that way.

And WHY is the stapler out on your deck?

Oh, I agree that those snowflake photos were incredible! I am baffled as to how she did them. I'd love to know what lens she uses.

    1. Snowflake photos were taken with my Canon Rebel t2i, using my new 60mm lens and a hunt and peck trial by error method of sighting in. I have gotten good shots using the lens that came with the camera and adding a ten dollar 10x macro lens (they are easy to buy on ebay). I also rented at 100mm lens once for macro work; if you live near a camera store check to see if they rent lens by the day. For the price of two movie tickets and popcorn you can have a full day of camera fun using a new lens at a fraction of the cost of buying one.

  15. Whoops, forgot to tell you. It snows here in the afternoon, very briefly, and instantly melted as soon as it hit the soggy ground. We finally have blue skies after 8 inches of rain this week. Multiple mountain roads in east TN (include one that goes through Smoky Mountain National Park) have been destroyed by mud slides.

  16. Hi Vee, You crack me up. I love those carrot hearts, and I checked out the recipe, it makes the soup look adorable.

  17. There will be heart-shaped carrots across the continent!

  18. Iago was suppose to dump 1-3 inches of snow here in the Asheville NC area last night after 3 days of solid rain. Woke up this morning to sunshine (at last!) but not one little flake of snow.

I am guessing D for both!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hmmm...I'm wishing for a substantial amount of winter weather. Glad that you're on Pintrest!

  20. You have lots of patience...carrot hearts! I think K would be just like John and not notice, but what a sweet thing to do. I would be compelled to try this, but K doesn't like cooked carrots. I'm off the hook!! I do cook baby carrots for the dogs, but they wouldn't appreciate my efforts at all.

Okay, I'm not even going to try guessing. Why is the stapler on the rail?

  21. I'm guessing D on both. I'm going to visit your links to find out more, Those carrots sure are cute. Amazing what they think up in the land of Pinterest.
Isn't this weather crazy? More snow in Alabama than Chicago? You can see how Iago affected us in my post today.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who occasionally publishes before finishing :D.

  22. You are so funny and make me smile! I'm guessing D on both as well and will try to make those carrots! Enjoy your Friday too....

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm guessing D on both of them too.
We have sunshine today. : )

  24. We woke to very cold temps....8 degrees said the weather gal, 18 degrees said my cell phone. Still cold! I feel I've missed a bunch while working in my project room, but I will join the bandwagon and say D for both! Have a lovely day! Crossing fingers my favicon shows!

  25. So did it work? Using the black stapler for snowflake background? May I suggest rounding up a magnifying glass or an old pair of sunglasses? And stick a needle into a pencil eraser end and use it to gently move flakes about.
I am guessing you are pre chilling the stapler in preparation for a snowfall?
Btw...I shot hoar frost by the river yesterday. Oh my...

I've done heart shaped French fries and jicama before; the carrot idea rocks!

  26. We are cold and snowy and it looks like it is staying that way for the weekend at least. No exciting photos yet though - I stayed in and baked pear cake. The hips are history. I am just getting back into "routine" after the London trip - I LOVE your bookmarks! Oh yes, I am indeed on Pinterest too. So many wonderful things i can say I have tried - and so many still to do!

  27. We are cold, foggy, and slippery here. Jill is a great motivator! I'm thinking I probably will just enjoy photos of carrot hearts! Have a great weekend confusing John!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I have no idea why the stapler is sitting outside unless someone was using it (for what I cannot imagine) and like Alan would put it on the nearest surface and forget about it!

Lots of snow here today and lots more forecast.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Has cabin fever set in??? No snow, but it is cold! The stapler is an interesting object on the railing, but I agree, you really have a lot of time to be able to cut the carrots into hearts. Happy Weekend, XOXO

    ReplyDelete
  30. No snow here, but the wind has been whistling!
Your home looks so inviting and cozy. Beautiful, Vee!
Once you get started (as I did recently) you will love Pinterest!
About noticing things....neither Mister nor Chickie noticed when I Took The Christmas Tree down! What's up with that??!

  31. Iago? Iago? Seriously, someone at the Weather Bureau named a storm "Iago"? At first I was lost......then I read further. Ha! Carrot hearts are so cute but have to be time consuming. The stapler, I don't know, you just needed a black object for your shoot? ;-) xo

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think the folks at the weather service have too much time on their hands.
    Love this post... Happy Friday!

  33. Vee
I say all of the above. Should I send you some Arctic sunglasses?
I'm guessing you're seeing way too much white!
I saw those carrots hearts and wanted to try them too.
Those things are never as easy as they look on Pinterest.
I used to do this with kiwi-it's a lot easier since it's bigger.
BTW, can I have an up-date on Johns chair situation?
Is he in his favorite chair or his favorite spot?
    Just being nosey, as usual.

  34. No crazy named storms around here. We are at 60 something degrees today but a little windy.
Stapler on the porch...???....beats me...but then, what do I know??? besides painting???

    ReplyDelete
  35. All the recent storms have gone south of us! But we're expecting to get even colder next week.

Hehehe, I had that happen so often that now when I write a new post I "schedule" it for later. Then I go back and change it to publish immediately. Saved me more than once...

This happened especially after they went to the latest Blogger set up where the Image icon is so close to the Publish icon (now how did I happen to know THAT?).

    ReplyDelete
  36. Did you get some snowflake photos? Is John thoroughly confused? Did he like the carrot hearts in his soup? How long did it take you to create the carrot hearts?

So many questions arise from your post!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I can't imagine the time it would take to make carrot hearts; it takes me too long just to chop them for soup. Of course, we're talking about 'me' who doesn't like chopping, much less carving.

Here in Texas.... we don't know what to wear (probably the same way there)... cold one day and warm the next.... but please don't name the storms. lol!
Have a good weekend.... and please don't move John's chair around anymore...men can get so confused.
    Hugs,

    ReplyDelete
  38. So you have John wondering? I'm sure he was thrilled with wee carrot hearts...a labour of love, for sure! Enjoy the weekend...and be sure to show us how your snowflake photos turn out. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. HAHA! Yes these winter storm names are silly. People have WAY too much time on their hands! Loved John's rant - I laughed out loud at "beautiful day Gloria"!!!

I saw those carrots on Pinterest. Yours looked cute, too, and wiggles and jiggles don't change the taste!

Sorry I missed the note card party last week. Drat.

Found you on Pinterest. I'm now a follower...
