Sure Signs of Spring~Mosaic Monday

It may be colder than... Okay, I'd better let that one go, yet I can still tell that spring is coming. One neighbor has her forsythia wreath upon the front door and the other neighbor has his trees tapped.  And the third sign of spring? John wants to take me out for ice cream. Gotta go...

Linking with Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday.

  1. What a beautiful photo Vee. I am catching up with some wise words on your posts. It is so cold in Ky. today, rain and sleet and it keeps changing so often. Makes me feel good that you are up at the other end of the country hanging in there. I have given up MM just can't get around to all the entries.

  2. Ice cream? Oh yes! I was craving frozen yogurt last week and bought a container when I shopped. I've had a couple of cones already. :-)

    1. Caramel Caribou, which has swirls of caramel in delicious vanilla(Giffords won first place in the world a few years ago with vanilla) and with chunks of chewy fudge here and there throughout. Baby cone...one scoop...heavenly...but COLD...was I ever.

  8. Loved the photo of the tapped trees! Not something you experience in my neck of the woods! Spring is well under way here, trees blooming, daffodils out, tiny leaves on the trees. Our temperatures are still fluctuating, but that's ok!

  9. Oh, I just love the mosaic of the trees and sap buckets! Beautiful!!! I put a yellow berry wreath on the front door the other day and added turquoise egg and leaf garland to it yesterday (from the dollar store) just so that when spring does arrive she'll know she's welcome. But it sure is cold and I don't think I'd be going for ice cream just yet. Unless its out of my freezer. I hope it was good! Pam

  10. Great signs of Spring - especially the last one. :-D
Thanks for stopping by. I can't take credit for the beautiful glads - bought them at the farmers' market. I have never tried to grow them my self.
    Have a great week.

  11. Lovely signs of Spring. It must be so much fun to see the maple drips. When we were in Ontario the park nearby had them out, and I knew that Spring was near.

Wishing you a lovely day, and a lovely sundae.

  12. I love to see the pails hanging from the trees at this time of the year. It says spring is here and yummy maple syrup can be found for sale. Valerie

  14. Happy spring...once the forsythia blooms, it isn't far behind! Or maybe I mean, once you go out for ice cream....)

  15. I'm familiar with two of your signs of spring. The Forsythia wreath and ice cream. Our trees are budding out, wish I had a few that needs tapping!
    Happy Spring........

  17. So cool! I want to know about your neighbor's tree taping! Brrr...even I don't want ice cream yet and it was in the 70's today!

  18. Is the sap already flowing or is this done early so none will be missed? I think this tradition is a wonderful sign of spring! Do people use what they harvest or sell it to a company that makes large quantities of syrup? We're suppose to have another snowfall tonight...possibly 6-12 inches!

  20. All sounds good to me. I am afraid March is very wintery here...

P.S. I am going home in June to NB and we are making a two-day trip to Maine (eastern), probably down to the coast and to drive along the coast a bit. We have not driven there in years. Not sure how much progress we will make.

  21. Oh, this may be one of my favorite mosaics ever! You see, I have a love affair with the idea of maple sugaring. It fits right there in my idyllic dream of New England, along with brilliant fall leaves and Holly Hobbie and Sarah, Plain and Tall and lobster rolls and rugged sea coasts and Cape Cod houses and Robert Frost. (You're not going to burst my bubble, are you?) Swooning...

Have a great new week Vee.

  23. I laughed about the ice cream. When we moved to Massachusetts in 1992, I was flabbergasted that the Dairy Queen closed from October to April! Sometimes, you just need ice cream, XOXO

  24. When the maple trees start giving up their sap it is truly a sign Spring can't be far behind. It is hard to believe that it is already past the middle of March. I think this area of Colorado is very much like New York City in that we can't expect truly constant ice weather until May, but I'll take any nice days that want to come early. Hope you ejoyed your ice cream!

  29. A beautiful mosaic Vee.
I would have wondered what the tins on the trees were about - I'm glad you explained it. I hope I'm not showing my ignorance here but are they maples and is it about maple syrup???!
We don't have those where I am!

  30. What a delightful husband John is! What a blessing. (As you are to him, I'm sure.) Someone used to come and tap the maple trees at our cottage at Chautauqua. We never new who it was, and then after perhaps a decade, it stopped. The trees were really old and we were always happy to see this bit of Americana being preserved. And then a few years ago the oldest tree died and had to come down. The town did it for free as it was a danger to anyway driving by. We miss it still. Sic transit gloria mundi.
