Around the Yard~Mosaic Monday

This season of the year, just after the snow has melted and before the leaves come out or the flowers bloom, can seem very dull unless one takes a closer look.

Grape hyacinths provide a bright bit of color; rocks, leaves and pinecones provide some texture; a chunk of bark for another sort of interest; the promise of azalea blossoms; a new wreath from the Christmas Tree Shoppe. I'll be ready for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and straight on to Christmas. ☺

This post is linked to Mary's Mosaic Monday at Little Red House.

  1. Love the new wreath, all great photos. I've never seen a grape hyacinth in person, just the regular kind. Have to look for them. Have a wonderful week, Vee! xo

  2. Beautiful mosaic Vee! The snow is melting here today - there's a bright yellow thing in the sky that we haven't seen for awhile! I must check to see if my grape hyacinths are blooming beside the barn - they just might be.

  10. Thanks for sharing the first signs of Spring in your part of the country. Seeing the first blooms and bits of green after a long, cold Winter is like getting a boost of e4nergy.
Thanks for stopping by and nice comment.
    Have a great week.

  13. Oh, how wonderful to spring making its first tentative forays into your yard. There is lots to admire in a yard, even when it seems dull and lifeless.
Your new wreath - practical, with charm!

  17. I believe that you are right about the beauty that is seen upon closer inspection. There is certainly beauty in your mosaic this evening. Your wreath is wonderful. I have a (faux, of course) ivy wreath on my front door much of the year, mostly because it is multi-purpose. :)

May you find beauty in this upcoming week!

  21. I just love seeing spring flowers on blogs because we don't get them here in Florida. Thanks for the memories (grape hyacinths were always the first ones in our Oregon yard.)

  23. A very pretty mosaic! I love the grape hyacinths in the spring. We are doing a lot of yard clean up this time of year too. I have been digging up and turning the soil in our garden area and I too came in bone weary tonight. So, I know how you feel. Have a blessed Monday tomorrow!

  24. Lovely photos. The Hungarian name for the grape hyacinth is "keys of Heaven" and I remember my mil telling me about this so long ago, in the spring of '72. I love them, and there are so many lovely different types of them.

  26. I really love that star wreath. I need to hit CTS soon. The closest one is an hour away so I don't get there that often.

  27. Great mosaic Vee! There are lots of signs of spring after the sun, showers and warmth of the weekend. Our snow is gone from our yard and I see green grass poking through! That's a great all season wreath! We got home about 8:30 our time last night. A nice sunny drive and not a deer or moose in sight. Saturday's breakfast was the highlight!! Hugs, Pam

  30. Taking a closer look... One of the perks, of loving to use our cameras. :-)

And don't you love all the meanings, which have been and can be associated with the 5 pointed star...? Ahhhhhh... Humans... How we love our symbols. :-)

  31. Beautiful mosaic Vee! We are still having rain here and not a lot of signs for spring. Tho in the valley it's a bit warmer and I'm seeing it there.

  35. How fun to see the first signs of spring appearing in your corner. Could there possibly be a more welcome sight after a long winter? I think not and perhaps that's why you hung out your new welcome wreath. :D. A very lovely wreath, by the way.

  40. Have I ever told you that you have more comments than any non-decorating and non-food blog I read?

I've thought about giving up blogging lately because I get so FEW comments. I think it's because you are so good at commenting on other blogs.

  41. Really? You get to see those things in your yard? We still have snow ~ piles and piles of snow. The weather forecasters are promising warm weather soon, though. Oh, I did notice that my chives are coming up. I counted 5 leaves and all were about 2-3 inches high. It's promising!

  42. I got one bag of leaves done, and then it rained. Now the bag ripped and the yard work sat..

Your friend's smile sure is bright and happy!
