Backyard Garden~Mosaic Monday

~The Scene~

~The Bits and Pieces~

I've been chomping at the bit to get out there and take photos. It's been a thunderstormy afternoon, which makes for dramatic lighting (no, I did not mean to say lightening ☺ lightning [Thanks, BJ, for keeping me straight!☺☺])

This reminds me of my grandson's being at a pool party last week with his classmates. His mother was also there. When a thunderstorm brewed up, he strongly suggested to his mom that it was time to leave. She said, "Go get your shoes." He said, "No time for that!"

He would not have liked seeing me out there with the camera for sure. But what I won't do for the cause when I'm feeling chatty.

  14. Your garden is looking very pretty! Love the big star on the fence. I bought one on clearance at HL a month ago to put on my fence.

  15. Looks very nice with your personal touches on the fence and in the ground.
We were sitting in the hot tub one night when it started to thunder and lightening - two people moved very fast to get out!

  16. the plates in the garden have made me curious to ask why? but then why not? Certainly a quirky and interesting garden Vee. And that path going around the corner there through the trees wants to follow - what is around that corner? Stay safe from the storms Vee, have a wonderful week, and thanks for stopping by my blog today.

    1. Many people do quirky things with their gardens in my corner. I fill up empty places with bits of color...plates, tea cups, broken bits of anything, seashells. Around the corner? My neighbor's lawn.

  20. The bits and pieces combine to make a very attractive garden spot, Vee. So glad you braved the weather for us. I'm also glad you're feeling chatty again!

  21. Beautiful..and I love the words, "no time for that" Maybe I need to just run from the storm and leave behind my shoes.

  22. Beautiful beautiful beautiful Vee!

Your grandson sounds like our Gabi. We've had so many bad storms over the last couple of years. Had thunderstorms yesterday, as a matter of fact. Interesting times explaining it isn't necessary to go to the basement each time it thunders, but rather wait to hear the siren. No sirens yesterday!! This is a good thing in our neck of the woods. Had I been outside with the camera, I know Miss Gabi would have had some advice for G'ma.

  26. Dramatic yes! Your yard is beautiful... so colorful. I have a splash of purple where the balloon flowers are in buckets and the yellow climbing roses are beginning to drop. Oh yes, and fragrant white mock orange blossoms on 2 corners of the house. I can't wait to see what happens next. :)

I LOVE dramatic children! Great story.

    Blessings, Debbie

  28. You're so creative with your photos--wish I had half your knowledge! I'm freaking out a bit, knowing that I'll have to again cope with severe thunderstorms when we move; something we do not have in western Washington. Oh, well, I keep saying..."we'll be closer to the grands and that's important!" Stay safe, XOXO

  29. How pretty. I love the way you are using those vintage plates!

  30. Oh you are creative Vee. I think I need to put on my garden shoes this week and start to clean up my spring perennials and let the summer annuals have a bit more space. I love your grandsons sensibility. So funny!
PS...I've been just hankering for a thunder storm.

  32. I love your top-left "Bits and Pieces" photo. Seeing the top of those fence posts reminded me of a most interesting fence that I saw yesterday while on a drive w/ my hubby. The pointed fence (just like yours) was painted to look like colored pencils all lined up! The bottom was painted, with a spot left bare (like the bare wood of a sharpened pencil, and then the tip painted w/ the corresponding color. It was really quite artsy and pretty around a little country cottage!

Also - I love your plates in the garden. A few years back I did the same thing w/ some broken plates. I loved the look, but we had some family members over (in-laws, I confess), who expressed how ODD they thought it was that I would put dishes in the garden. I know I shouldn't have, but I totally let them ruin it for me.

    1. I have lots of folks who find me odd. I throw back my head and laugh. They are the "odd" ones who do not recognize whimsy when they see it. They've grown far too old and stodgy. I could have a garden of nothing but the posies painted on plates. ;D

  33. Hi Vee! I love your mosaic with your pretty garden vignettes. The lilies are gorgeous! It's very humid here today so I think we'll be enjoying a light show later on along with some rumbles from the heavens. I love a summer thunder shower when it's nice and warm out. And I'm enjoying the heat too. Have a good afternoon and week. Hugs. Pam

  36. Last weekend, I was in my garden trying to get some replacement plants in (deer eat my peas!) before a storm began. A LOUD crack of thunder sent me running indoors. Later, when we drove to do errands we saw several utility trucks down the street about two blocks from us - that's where the lightning struck! Don't mess with Mother Nature :)

    Your garden looks lovely!

  37. Beautiful flowers!

After our house was hit by lightening from a storm miles away (it was sunny outside our window), I tend to join the cat in hiding from it these days. :)

Your yard looks lovely-it's the kind that comes from years of
working and planting and adding, I'm thinking.

    1. They are Bolero Lilies, Merle. I'm very pleased with them as they keep multiplying all on their own. They came in a little pot with about four plants ten years or so ago.
