Apple Orchard Afternoon

Such a pretty apple orchard afternoon it was. The quote is included because a dear friend stopped me after church to say "thank you" for a plaque that I once gave her with this on it. She is a school teacher who has been feeling a bit discouraged wondering if her years of teaching have made any difference. She says that when she sees that quote, she is encouraged. I don't recall giving her this gift. However, I am thankful that God can use such seemingly little things. I'm thinking that they are the big things after all.

This is a maybe Mosaic Monday. I'm not quite sure if Mary is back yet. If so, I'll be linking up. If not, I'll catch her another Sunday.

  1. It's a lovely day here, too. Sunshine on both coasts! Apple orchards are wonderful things. Glad you enjoyed your afternoon there.
That's a very apt quote for a teacher, as you well know.

  4. Your teacher friend has probably impacted more lives than she will ever know, I am glad she has this quote to remind her. I certainly like it. Lovely mosaic Vee, our apple orchard is empty of fruit for this year, and somehow the apples have made it into my home pantry, as other homes too! It was a bountiful year, compared to last year when not one apple was gathered! That was such a disappointment for sure. I love picking apples and the smell of ripe apples on the trees.Enjoy your evening.
    Hugs,

  6. Such a nice post and mosaic. I hope your friend is encouraged and that YOU are encouraged by how you helped her! Sometimes we have no idea how the little things we do end up meaning a lot. Sometimes we get to hear, other times we will never know.

  7. What a wonderful quote - so true Vee! Yes, apple season is upon us here too - thankfully we have lots of apples this year. Last year was very lean as the blossoms froze in Spring. What a nice outing you had in the orchard! God truly is awesome in every way!

  13. I have wonderful memories of times in apple orchards. Your mosaic is such a beautiful reminder of those times.

Isn't it amazing to learn that something we did or said made a special impression on another? Quite a responsibility we've been given!

  14. The apple orchard reminds me I should stock up for apple pies, hubby's favourite. The quote made me stop and think for a minute and then realize how thankful we should be for one little apple seed.

  17. What a beautiful quote! Thanks for sharing it and the story of the teacher you encouraged along the way. The apple orchard pictures are wonderful. I picked Paula Red's yesterday. Waiting for the Cortland and Macs to ripen. A poor crop here this year du to various factors. Enjoy your apples!

  18. Love the quote and the collage you put around it. It's great when people affirm a good deed that encouraged them in the past that we do not recall. Have a wonderful week!

  20. I love that quote, and I love to go apple picking! There are not many orchards on our side of the Rockies, so we have to go to the western side next year, where there are more farms. Peaches and vineyards are also a big commodity on the western slope.

  21. Very often I am glad that God uses the little things. Sometimes we (I) think of my life as obscure and our sphere of influence as small. But then I think of Jesus' words about even a cup of cold water...and that puts it all in perspective.

What a fine way to spend a September day!

  22. I agree that the little things may be the big things after all. It's nice to learn when we give something that seems insignificant to us means so much to another.

  23. What a nice quote. It's amazing how what we say and do sometime has such an impact on someone somewhere, and we never even know it at the time. We've been so busy with the barn we haven't even had time to head to the apple orchards.

  24. Sometimes it is the smallest remark.....and it stays with us and changes us. There is so much power in the written word.....as well as the spoken ones.

  25. It is so amazing how powerful the gift of encouragement is! I have received little gifts and cards that I am certain the giver never knew meant so much to me!

  27. Oh Vee your lovely apple orchard pics bring beautiful memories back to me!
A few years ago I visited a similar orchard in France on a kindy trip with one of my granddaughters.

That is such a grounding quote from you today - Yes God certainly is 'All Knowing".

  28. We have orchards near us but we have never gone picking apples! I'll have to remedy that!

That quote is a true statement, and I think true of everyone who hopes to impact and encourage other people.

    Have a lovely week!
