Mums

A chrysanthemum by any other name would be a lot easier to spell.

~ Robert Savage

Only two of these are mine, but that doesn't stop me from taking photos of mums wherever I find them. They are so gorgeous this year!

  2. Mums remind me of Homecoming from my high school days. There were always mum corsages for for sale for the guys to buy for their girlfriends. I enjoyed them from afar...

  6. Last year I planted 3 different small mum plants I bought at Trader Joe's. They were on the table and then went to the garden. They are now about 2 feet across and are just opening. Two are yellow flowers and the third looks like pink tips. They should be fully open in a few days to tell me the color.

    I too love mums.

    Beautiful collage.

  8. Vee,
You and I had the same idea! I had my post on mums all ready to go when I saw yours...they really are the flowers for fall, aren't they? You know what they say about great minds!! Have a great week :)

  10. Mums are a pretty fall flower and come in so many colours now. Do you plant yours in the ground to keep them going? I used to do this but prefer to have fresh busy plants each fall.

  23. Mums are so pretty to have on the doorstep. I have a couple of pots out front and one in the back. It's nice to have color as everything is on the wane. Robert Savage had the right idea!

  26. They compliment autumn tree colors perfectly. And they come back faithfully each year here. I buy the "inside" and "outside" one and both are planted outside and do just great.

  35. Vee, I love mums too. I have been meaning to buy a few for my front steps. I'm afraid I am not very good at keeping them healthy though. I think I have too much sunshine.

I haven't bought one mum yet. At the rate that I'm going it will probably Thanksgiving before I get one!

  40. What do you do with your mums? I've always planted mine, but haven't any place to do so now. For that reason, I haven't bought any this year. I think it's time to move.
