Tulip Time Dishes

This is mostly a picture story, a
dish story, and a friendship story.

Some weeks ago now, Kimberly at Camp and Cottage Living, mentioned some dishes that she had found. If you'd like to read the back story, you'll find it *here.*  As a result of that post, I now have some beautiful gifts from Kim. I had offered to pay for the dishes and Kimberly told me that I must receive them so as not to steal her joy.

The box contained dishes, linen, a towel for draining dishes, a field and forest cupcake party pack (which will be getting good use shortly), two "green" bags for groceries, and a sweet thank you card. Who should be thanking whom around here?

Kim wondered what I might do with the chipped pieces...have no fear, I always have a plan! I simply extended the line. (I used a cropped photo of the dishes in my header.)

This card tickled me because I think of those who periodically tell me that they must clean their screens of coffee spurts. ☺

Thank you, Kimberly! You're a Dear Heart.

Now, please visit Kim to see how she has updated the kitchen in her new home. It's adorable and you'll find it on her post titled My Budget Kitchen Reveal...

  6. What a wonderful gift. I've never seen that pattern, but it's very nice. Love what you do with your chippies. Coffee spurts? I now have a name for those little dots on the screen. Looks like you have some nice color around your home.

  18. Love the tulip time china. Kim is a treasure indeed! Now I'm thinking I may have to pay you another visit...and check out that 'plate rail' fence. Do you leave your china out in the rain...and the snow...of winter?

    1. You come back any time! Yes, I leave it out in all kinds of weather. These plates, if not chipped, were four for a dollar so I'd not feel too bad if one were broken. So far, so good. Most have been out through all seasons since the fence was built a couple of years ago and prior to that they hung by plate hooks for another three years. China is tough stuff!

  19. Yeah, there is a reason I don't drink coffee or tea when reading blogs. ;)

Those are gorgeous! They remind me of when we lived in Holland, Michigan. They had a small delft factory there. A couple years ago, Kristi who comments on my blog asked if I wanted her grandmother's British Castles brown transferware china. None of her children wanted them and she knew I'd love them. When someone gives you such a gift, doesn't it make you want to hug Blogger for the wonderful friends you've made?

  24. Love these Johnson Bros dishes! I love English china--nothing quite like it. I see these were made in England before they were sent to China to be made. Makes them more special. ♥

  25. These are such charming dishes! And blue and white are my favorites....At the moment my everyday dishes are J&J Indies in blue and white....How clever to use these on the fence ledge.

  26. I mean Johnson Bros., not J&J, if that exists.

  30. Now here I thought I commented earlier and see that I didn't. Boo on me!

I love Johnson Bros. china. These remind me of the blue delft my sister in law used to collect. Very sweet and nice.

Your china border on your fence is growing - it looks great!

    What a nice friend!

  33. Confirms my thoughts - bloggers are just the nicest people.
Tulip Time is a beautiful pattern and looks like delft, because of the dutch theme.
I love those linen napkins too - I'll keep my eye for them on your table!
How kind of Kimberley to gift it to you.
I love plates - especially blue. What a creative way to decorate your fence Vee.

  34. I loved this story, Vee ... it's so neat to come across dishes that one treasures. I have given up on any one set of dishes and buy two plates of this and two dishes of that. Then, I put color schemes together for our dinner table. Am currently looking for a vintage green pattern ... any ideas?

  35. Bloggers are kind and generous, I know this too firsthand. The dishes are pretty and I love the plates along the fence. There is a chipped floral plate and a perfect scene plate in one of my beds, they add beauty and conversation to the garden.
