Outside~Inside

You will be happy to know that I am keeping this post simple. If you want complicated, read Thursday's post. ☺

It's snow and ice on the pumpkins, but doesn't it look like sea salt?

Outdoors it's a beautiful Novembery day with a deep blue sky, stormy dark clouds moving fast, lots of shadows, windy, and brrrrrisk. The leaves are skittering everywhere making that dry leaf scratchy sound. I can even hear them from inside where I am puttering as I slowly get the house ready for next week. I've already set the piano to rights.

~Over the River and Through the Woods~

A blessed weekend to you...

  1. Love the staging of the piano! Perfect...
That really does look like sea salt. Great photos.
We've had frosty crunch here. If it was raining it would be snow.
    Have a great weekend.

  2. Now that is frost on the pumpkin! :)

Our windchill tonight is going to be -4. In November! It is coming your way if it is not there already.

  3. Even we are having winter storm warnings this weekend. I need to purchase a sack of potatoes and few odds and ends to hunker down for a few days.

  4. From this I gather you have had some snow (oh yes I just read previous post) and that you play the piano and have some nice vintage music (ditto to me on both of those.) Is anyone coming over the river and through the woods to your house next week?

  5. Vee, I love all your photos, but the frost on the pumpkin is one of my top five fave photos! We are expecting bad weather next week, the worse day being the day before Thanksgiving! I am glad I decided to host Thanksgiving rather than uninvited folks ;0) and drive up to Maine. I will definitely try to get up there in the summer (ah, the blueberries!). Have a blessed and happy thanksgiving. Are you cooking? xo

  6. Oh, what book is the spiral bound one on the piano? And I answered your question at thickethouse in my blog comments. It's hovering around freezing here in northeast Ohio. Snow again soon, I think.

  8. Ah, and photos sing the beauty of simplicity! Terrific setup on all of those, and the second especially makes my heart pitter-patter.

  9. I actually thought that you glittered the pumpkin. I should look through our sheet music, I'm sure that we have a copy of that song too. I'll have to set it up for Flyboy:)

    Have fun puttering!

  11. Beautiful crystals on your pumpkin. I love the vintage look of the music book on your piano. Reminds me of the upright piano I learned to play on when I was 5 years old. Mother was my first teacher for about a year. Pleasant memories.

    Smiles,
    Carol

  12. Good Morning, Well it really is pushing noon :) Can you play the piano? Just seeing it with the open song book just feels like the holidays. We did get 4 inches of snow last night! I also went out and got a few photos of snow on my pumpkins. Summer is already but a memory. We are going to some dear friends for Thanksgiving, they invited all of us :) Except of course my kids in FL. Blessings Always to YOU! Roxy

  13. Hello Vee
I'm playing catch-up, reading previous posts and thinking how neat it is you know so much about your ancestors. My paternal grandparents were first cousins which I thought was supposed to be genetic no-no.
I wish I had a pumpkin to compare to your frosty one from the northland where we are for the weekend. Daughter #1 lives in a snow belt I call the North Pole and it's been snowing for 2 days. :-)

  19. The pumpkin looks so pretty with it's ice and snow coat. I have always wanted to play a piano. When in my 30's I took a few lessons, but my fingers seemed all thumbs.

  20. When first seeing the little icon picture of your blog post I thought the picture was of a bundt cake with icing sugar on it!! : ) We are supposed to be getting some snow tonight.

  21. I LOVE your pumpkin photos! How pretty they look with their frosting on them. And I had no idea you had a piano. I don't recall seeing it before but it looks like a wonderful old one. Who is the piano player in your house? The song page is rather appropriate for your gathering of the clan next week too. Love it!! Stay cozy tonight.

  22. Love the pumpkin photos...
Aren't we gonna have a great time next week with our family !! I can hardly wait.
Mr. Sweet will bring the leaves for the dining table up from the basement tomorrow, along with the two benches he made. We will have 14 sweeties with us for sure with a possible 2 or 3 more. I have breads and cakes in the freezer; the cakes waiting for frosting when thawed Wed. night...grandson is making our pies, as always...daughter and DIL will bring their favorites to add to our menu....I can hardly wait. :)

  23. Your pictures are stunning Vee - I really love the one of the pumpkin with the long stem - so artistic! It does look like coarse sea salt for sure. We're getting some of that stuff over here today with high winds and dipping temps! Enjoy your week as you prepare for Thanksgiving.

  30. Now that you mention it, it does look like sea salt, pretty photo. Awe, I miss our piano, when we moved here to Wisconsin we gave it to our daughter, technically it was hers anyway, we bought it for her when she started taking piano lessons.

  31. Yes, it does look like sea salt.
This is a favorite song to me.
I use to make my children sing it to their G'Parents
    on Thanksgiving Day.
    Love your banner too, Vee.

  32. I sure miss having a piano, I didn't remember you mentioning having one before now. Do you play?

Great closeup of the frosty pumpkin!

  35. One of my favorite childhood songs! And as "they" say, "the frost is on the pumpkin" here in Ohio. Beautiful snow flurries whirling in the sky yesterday. I feels like the holidays!

Blessings to you and yours Vee, Edie Marie

  37. As always I seem to be running to catch-up, hopefully one day i will!~smile~ I posted on the notecard Party and forgot to comment on my hostess post, your photos were beautiful, and as always present such warmth and drawing me to want to sit with you with a hot beverage and just chat!
Love these photos especially the piano with the music sheet, just waiting for your family to gather round and sing this beloved song, this is just what I am singing today, as my mother is having her Thanksgiving dinner early, and we will be going over the river to her house.
    Hugs,
    Sue

  42. It does look like kosher salt crystals on your pumpkin, Vee! Very pretty photo! The weather has cooled off here but I can still wear a light jacket--it never feels as cold as the thermometer says as it is so dtry here. I love it!

Busy, busy, week ahead --lots of cleaning and cooking --- ready, set go! :)
