Meet the Hairdresser

Yet another simple picture story about my hair. (It's an ongoing theme.)

1. The Problem (Why, yes, I did run this photo through the diffuser. Too bad I couldn't find the plastic surgery option.)

2. The Solution

< Imagine a beautiful woman of about 40 with layered tresses and weighing 97 pounds. >

3. The Goal (What? Too much of a stretch you think?)

4. The Hairdresser

5. The End

Have a lovely weekend!

P.S. Thanks for being so sweet. I tried to follow your advice! (I found the plastic surgery option.)

  1. I love your photo of your hairdresser! And that's a great inspiration photo, too. Now all you need is a curling iron!

  4. Oh- You are a brave, brave, brave woman. My hair is the ongoing joke in the family-TOO much-TOO long-TOO crazy-you name it and the family has all said it. I think your cut is pretty close and a bit of curl and it should look like the model! xo Diana

  5. Is there anything this man cannot do! Just needs curls. If he tells you he has a tool for that make sure it doesn't involve propane. We'll never forget the Christmas that Handyman scorched the sugar on my creme brulee with a welding torch. He almost set fire to the table cloth and completely cleared the kitchen! He admits it was overkill, but the dessert was delicious.

  6. What a lucky girl you are ... a live in handyman/hairdresser ... doesn't get better than that!

  7. Your hair looks very nice as does your hairdresser!!

  8. I'd say you are blessed to have a hubby so talented. Your hair looks very pretty and I know it feels better....I had a cut yesterday and it felt great to lose some of the fullness!

  9. This was an amusing post. First of all my friend, I think we see ourselves very differently then others. My first thought on the photo that you thought needed a plastic surgery option was "my, what youthful looking skin Vee has". I had to show this post to my hubby who found the concept of a husband cutting his wife's hair foreign, unless said husband was a barber. ~ Abby

  10. Well, I like it so yet another reason the hunky hairdresser is a keeper.

And this post made me smile. I came here a little crabby, but now I'm sort of grinning.
And a stretch? Nah... perish the thought.

  11. Guts! You both have them. Trust for you, courage for John! :) I can't even imagine my hubby cutting my hair, he probably can't either, so my hat's off to you. Btw... looks like you have thick hair, what a blessing.

  12. I like how John's face is right next to the word "Blessings" -- very appropriate! You do have great, thick hair. Pinterest is a great resource for styling/product information (I know this because I have a teenage daughter in the house;)

  13. It looks pretty....just a little curling iron to the ends and I think you'll have your new look. I need a hair cut...can I be next? Hugs!

  14. Is there nothing that John can't do? LOL! He did a might fine job there. I wouldn't trust Mr. Jim to do mine. I will ask him to trim up my neck hair now and then, but that's it.

  15. Great picture of John! I am envious of your hair Vee. Trust me, you have beautiful hair. I have none....:-(. I have had almost balding hair since I was about 14. I would love to have a head of thick, unruly, curly, straight, coarse, long, short, brown, red, gray hair - really just more of it and I would be so happy.

  16. Love the smile on that hairdresser's face! Does John usually cut your hair or is this a weather related scenario? I love how everyone just says a curling iron will do the trick. A curling iron in my uncoodinated hair hands would probably end in disaster...

  17. Well, I had to laugh Vee! Not at your photos or hair but at the hairdresser! That really got me. Get out the curling iron and go for it. Perhaps you need your layers thinned to curl it easier. I hear there is a new tool on the market. It somehow wraps sections of ones hair into a heated tube (?) and makes a curl. My luck it would rip the whole chunk of hair right out. You are blessed with a great head of hair. Oh to have more on top of my own head. My hairs are getting to be 'truly numbered' these days!! I have to take at Murray's hair this afternoon. He's long overdue.

  18. I would never have the courage to let Earl cut my hair! Yours looks good and I love the cut, I think it would look just like your inspiration photo once you curl it.

  19. You are a brave woman. I'm grinning ear to ear.

  20. Curling iron, and some product to bring back your lustre - I use Morroccan Oil and cannot say enough about it, esp in the forced-air-heated-dry- static-world we live in - called WINTER. You aren't far off of that goal. Her hair is longer and she has a crap-ton of shine product in her hair, trust me.

My daughter is a hairdresser. I listen to her rant about how no one uses enough product.

I love the lightness of your hair, and I think your stylist did a great job. No worries, mate. Hugs.

  21. Love it! I have had a week of hair crisis, culminating in a really good cut from a new stylist. Like so many others, I don't have a lot to work with, and I don't know that my husband would approach the task of cutting it with quite the ebullience of your Dear Husband!

  22. I wouldn't let my husband of 44 years anywhere near my hair with a pair of scissors in hand!!!
Like I won't let him near the hedges with hedge trimmers any more - he gets far too carried away and before you know it - there would be no hair or hedge left!!!!!!!!
John is a trustworthy soul - great shots of both of you and I also have a chuckle with your humor!

  23. Nice job. I wish my husband could cut hair. I can but, unfortunately, this one thing is beyond his many talents. My hair was ultra-short about a year ago, when I was so ill all the time. After this last surgery, since the pain stopped, I decided to let it grow out. Now it's down to my shoulders. I am tempted to cut it short again but I'm kinda enjoying my "hippie" stage. *lol* My moods are like the seasons, though, who knows what my style will be by next summer. ~:)

  24. Looks good, Vee. If I had been there, or been you or your hubby, I would have spent most of the time rolling around on the floor laughing. I kid you not. Speaking from experience.

  25. I'm agreeing with Michele- get some shine on those tresses and I think the hubs got pretty darn close to where you were aiming for!

  26. Just some curls and you could have that harido. Very nice. Ken used to cut my hair all the time. Now that I go to get it dyed though I just have Sherri trim it. I can't believe how little she charges compared to what I used to pay!!!!

  27. Wow, he's hired!!
    John did a great job.
    I love the colour Vee.
Like someone said, just a little curling
and you will have your photo hairstyle!

  28. You're a heck of a storyteller Vee. The hairdresser looks happy with his work, and it wasn't until after I showed Glenn your post that I noticed a new colour! Very chic, or as BJ said about her hair one time, "sassy". After her encouraging post, at my next appointment I told my hairdresser I wanted to look sassy. It didn't go over so well, I think she thought I'd gone off my rocker. LOL

  29. I have long hair and 95% of the time I wear it in a bun why it easy and cool but every now and again[about every 10 years] I get it cut permed and look completely different for a while but that requires effort and I soon get sick of that so it's back to the bun.

  30. I love it!! Are you saying John is your hairdresser??? I can NOT imagine letting Louis Dean touch mine - and I am not at all picky!!! That reminds me - I need to give HIM a trim before church in the morning!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I am looking for the plastic surgery difffuser also!! I would not let my hubby touch my hair....that is, when I have hair!! You are very brave!

    ReplyDelete
  32. BTW... I was so shocked that you let your husband cut and color your hair I forgot to mention the color turned out very well. Put some rollers in there and curl it up.

    1. Are you not seeing the P.S. photo, Jeanne? It was added over an hour ago, but I can believe anything of Blogger.

  33. Whoa, your hubby there did a pretty good job. I can't say that I'd trust mine, the only kind of hair cuts he knows how to give is a buzz cut.

  34. Hi Vee!

I think you are just amazing and very trusting...I wouldn't let my husband touch my hair! Although, he has not been to a barber in almost 40 years...I am his barber!!

Now, what is this about the plastic surgery option? You are gorgeous just the way you are...just beautiful!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  35. You are honest and open and not pretentious at all, and that make you beautiful in my book. Seeing that my blog name is connected with hair (actually, just my nickname), you would think I would be good at it. Not so. Nor my husband. But I can say that you will get close to the look you admire on that actress by curling your hair up and away from your face, especially from the front-middle part of your head. It will then fall gently down around your face. Then hairspray. I have some friends who love for this untrained wanna-be hairdresser to fool with their hair. Now, if I could just do my own or borrow your husband, perhaps?

    XO,
    Jane

  36. You are so brave! I used to cut my husband's hair every month, but not anymore--thank heavens! The itching was terrible! I would never trust him to trim my hair, but I often do it myself--Yeah, I'm sure it looks like it! My hair used to be dark, but now I'm not even sure what color it is! Lots of gray and I use some Loving Care blonde to blend it into a kind of light brown, but I don't even look like myself anymore!
I think your photo is quite attractive! Maybe John should start a new career! V

  37. You have me smiling over here! Tell John he did good. Is there anything he can't do? I know I would never let my hubby near my hair. But, I cut his all the time...have for all these many years.

  38. Beautiful results on a beautiful lady. I love getting peeks of your lovely face.
John...what a talented man. Who knew?
Lately the hair cutting at our house has brought some tension as Warren remembers he wants a hair cut as my eyes are glazing over at the end of the day. I tell him that the results are his consequence for remembering so late. :-)

  39. Love the color, send your hairdresser to my house, would you? THank you!!

  40. Good grief, John....you have many talents...I'm ALmost afraid to see the other hidden ones. :))

  41. You look FABULOUS dahling!! You & John did a great job AND saved a lot of $$. There's nothing better than a new "do"!

Have a great week Vee! hugs, Edie

  42. Wow your John also cuts and styles hair? What a team you two are. It looks lovely, really!

  43. Where do you find that plastic surgery option?! I think your hair looks great and to think you have a hairdresser right in your own home. I need mine cut and I'm thinking that the man in the house might be an option.

  44. John is truly a jack-of-all-trades. I've asked Tim to cut my hair a few times over the years, but he won't touch it. (Too scared of repercussions, maybe?) I cut his all the time.
I love the PS photo of you and your lovely smile that shines out of your eyes as well.

  45. Wow, I'm impressed by John and he looks so pleased with himself, Vee! Your hair looks so pretty and so do you!!
p.s. Somehow I'm not receiving your posts emailed to me any more, along with a few others. I don't know what the deal is with Blogger!!

  46. I love this post, Vee!! I am both amazed that you would let John cut your hair, and amazed that he would do it! And he looks so happy about it, too. He is such a sweet man...you have a keeper!
Your new haircut looks fabulous...love this picture of you!

(So I have "laryngitis" for days...and then when I start to speak again, I am overcome with exclamation points. It's all or nothing with me!) :)
