A Haven for Vee

Brooks, Schools, Pinwheels

Though I tried repeatedly to get the code for button making to work, I failed. After three hours, something has got to be more important. Picking fluff from a cotton ball would be more important. So, if you'd like a new Note Card Party button, feel free to snag this the old-fashioned way. You may link to the home page here or you may link to the *directions page.* Thank you so much for linking; it is much appreciated.

Tomorrow Mr. Linky will be up between 2 and 2:30. After this post is published, I'm going to start having some fun with this month's Note Card Party. I have my props all gathered. It will be different anyway.

~~~
This is the final picture showing snow-melt progress in just two short weeks. I can't believe that two weeks ago, it looked this way:
And now?
And, though that is bad, it is a huge improvement. The burlap has been removed from the rosebushes and, when the forsythia blooms, I shall be pruning them. The azalea bush needs trimming even before it blooms because of broken branches. It'll be looking good in a month. I hope. You will be happy to know that I am sparing you the weekly installments henceforth. ☺
Here's a photo taken this morning  showing the little brook that winds behind the house. It passes through a culvert under the road and into the river. That's why it looks as if I'm standing in the brook.
The little red schoolhouse on the hill. Soon, it will be invisible from this vantage point.
Snow plow damage. It turned this sign into a pinwheel.
Well, that's it for today. See you tomorrow!
  1. Well good morning, Vee. I do like what I'm seeing in the new photos from around your home. Wow that damage on that sign puts some perspective on how high the snow gets! Thanks for the reminder on the note card party. I'll have to do some scrolling to see what I've got for this round. Have a wonderful Monday!
  2. It looks like your spring has finally arrived Vee. I planted my herbs this past weekend and now we are suppose to get a freeze Tuesday and Wednesday night, so I will be covering them. Yesterday was 78 and sunny. Today it will be in the low 60's and raining.
  3. Boy those are some serious blue skies, Vee- and that poor sign! It's a work of art though, haha.
    We had 3 glorious perfect low 70s, low humidity days - oh how wonderful - fall the little buds and flowers coming to live again - and perfect timing or Palm Sunday and for a ladies reception tea I helped with yesterday.....but today is gloomy as your pics and threateneing SNOW tomorrow. Guess I will have to shut all the windows again. And turn on the heat again. The cat has loved watching the birds from his favorite perch at the open window in my office.
    Had blogging and domain issues most of last week we were finally able to iron out, so hopefully I am back again. Forgive me once again for being absent, it was maddening!
    Have a truly special and blessed Holy Week, my dear Vee. Looking forward to the card party! Hugs!
  5. The sign is actually now a government sponsored art installation.
    It still needs a title and a small little board explaining the artist's intent, point of view and message.
  6. Nothing like seeing the grass again, I bet...how exciting! What I could see of the little red schoolhouse looks like a very cool building...I remember seeing many of them around in the country when I lived in Ohio. Looking forward to tomorrow's note cards!
  7. What an amazing change in your surroundings! So much snow...and now almost none!
    Thanks for the note card party reminder. I'll have to get busy finding some photos...hmmm... You have me curious about yours now! :)
  8. Vee, you crack me up. Picking fluff off a cotton ball? Reminds me of the song House at pooh corner by Kenny loggins. "Count all the bees in the hive, chase all the clouds from the sky....."
    I definitely see green on your lawn.
  9. oh to see grass again, what a winter!!!
  10. Our azalea's are wearing their full regalia. I look forward to seeing the colors in your area. Is the old schoolhouse still in business? I wouldn't mind seeing some close ups of the building. I enjoy old architecture. The Methodist church we used to attend here in town is a brick building built in the early 1900's or so. It was creaky and worn but still interesting. Hope y'all stay warm and cozy this week. ~:)
  11. What a pretty button for your notecard party.
    And it must be encouraging to see that yes, Spring is truly on its way, when you see the difference in the snow banks. Your creek looks a delightful place to explore. You'd need a great pair of old-fashioned rubber boots to play. Any pussy willows?
  12. You would think all snow plow driver would have their tooth shook loose what with all the things they run into.:):) Aren't you so happy that darned old snow is melting? Wow, it's hard to believe it is snowing again up north. Our grass is greening up fast. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
  14. It's amazing the changes that can take place in just a few weeks. I'd love to take a walk around your neck of the woods. Enjoy the first of spring pruning.
  17. I have enjoyed seeing our landscape change this spring as we truly had a very long winter too, our lawn is green, fruit trees are in bloom, flowers are beginning to pop open,and now the weatherman is calling for a freeze tomorrow night, and three nights of 30plus degrees, so i guess the lawn will turn brown , the fruit trees will be covered, and the flowers will just have to pop back underground, and so it goes here in the south! Your stream looks so beautiful and peaceful! Enjoy your fresh spring, I am looking forward to seeing your blue Morning Glory again this year!
    Thanks for the reminder of the party, got to get busy.
    Hugs,
    Sue
  18. Yay for the snow being mostly gone! Spring is here! Finally! Your place always looks good and it will in a few weeks with some leaves on plants and flowering shrubs!
    We are always amazed at how close a farm field is to us - we can't see it at all during the summer!
    Windy day here but sunny! Are you going to try to see the lunar eclipse tonight or rather early morning?
  20. Notecard time again?? Already?? Oh my. I'm so far behind. Well, I'll try to find something to post about. I can't believe your snow went that fast!! Lucky you. Your little brook is very pretty. I'd be out there wading in it or sailing little boats down it. Any fish in there?
  33. Don't you just want to WIN once with the computer sometimes? Then realize it's just not that important? I loved your pictures of almost spring in the neighborhood. And that schoolhouse especially.
  34. OK, now I'm miffed.
  35. Yay for the snow melting! Yay for warmer temps! Yay for spring...I think it's spring...we had thunderstorms Sunday, but snow showers yesterday and freezing temps last night. Sigh. At least the snow didn't accumulate and the sun is shining today even tho it's still chilly.
    I can't believe it's Note Card party time. I'd better get busy scouring the archives and see what I can find. See you, hopefully, at the party!
