Holding a Footprint

Whenever I wonder what to post about, I wander through recent photo files. It usually helps.

The weather story around here is green rainy. It has rained for days on end without many sunny breaks at all. Yes, I'd love to share it with you parched folks who'd love to have some.

The next weather story will be cold with temps not able to get out of the 50s. I'll be saving some cozy for tomorrow.

Our Memorial Day plans fizzled when one of the grands became ill. Poor kid. Life can be disappointing sometimes. And he had to miss his baseball game last night, too. I went to watch the other play and had myself a spot right behind home plate. It was fun to see him tap that home plate, wait for the ball, and send it sailing. Rained out in the second inning, though.

Made myself a snack mat with the fabrics *Niki sent back in December 2012.* (Niki, I don't know if you still read or not, but the fabrics worked up beautifully and I'm so going to enjoy my snack mat. Hope that you are well!)

I baked some over the weekend, one a recipe I've linked to before, but have changed up so much that it really is my own now so I'll be sharing that soon. Still working on the tea-towel tutorial, but need supplies (how does a gal run out of thread?)

Not the most fascinating of posts, but something to hold my footprint. Now I'm off to see how your weekends went.

  3. Sorry about the sick grandkid, but sounds like you had a pretty pleasant weekend otherwise. And rain is a good thing, right? Makes those peppers and tomatoes grow without getting sunburned. You should link up that beautiful fence to Fences on Thursday. Beautiful! And the reason I post so much about rusty stuff is that I have an abundance of subject matter. LOL

  4. Hi Vee,
I hope your grandkid is feeling better. I love rainy days, and believe it or not, I miss the cooler temperatures already. Just back a week, it's crazy going from a cool Springlike temps to full hot summer weather. The nicest think about all the rain is that everything looks so green. I miss that. Love reading your post this morning.

  7. I'm hanging on over here, too. We understand the rained out baseball game concept here in the Northwest. Some years are really bad that way. Blessings on your day!

I am sorry that the little guy was sick. I hope he wasn't too disappointed...and that he is as right as rain really soon! Glad you were able to see the other grand play ball. It sounds so precious the way you describe it.

  12. Sometimes these chatty posts about nothing in particular can be most enjoyable - like a quick visit with a friend. Sorry to hear the grand was ill. We're in a patch of cooler weather these days, too, and some rain. Everything is green, green, green. Soon it will be parched and brown, brown, brown.

  14. Sickness? Boo hiss! Hope he is feeling better today!

I spent many years at the baseball fields when my brothers played. Now I am married to a non sports guy.

We are having warm weather and this afternoon expect Thunderstorms. I am off to get my hair cut soon, and then to a cello recital of a young man from our church.

    Cozy up!

But when it wasn't raining it was lovely. Sorry the grand kid is under the weather. Hopefully he will be back to his old self soon. It's soo green there, and it is just gorgeous! Hope your day was a good one!

  17. Mats just for snacks? Who'da thunk it? I'm so classless I use paper towels. *giggle* It's been raining in the afternoons, which is nice in the Southeast. It's been so dadgum humid already. A girl can't keep hair straight in this neck of the woods. ~:)

  21. When we returned home, the grass had grown 4 inches and the daylilies are up that much more, too!! The fabrics in the snack mat are lovely. A snack mat might be just the ticket. I tend to snack on the run. That would make me sit and enjoy. Does it do that for you?

  27. I love personal posts like this.....makes me feel as though we are truly visiting you. Thanks for being YOU - real and unpretentious and just plain AWESOME.

Hope it stops raining for you soon, it rained 9 straight cold days here and I thought I was going to lose my mind.......it isn't nice here often, but as I said it's been GREAT for a few days - all through the holiday weekend, too. We NEEDED IT so much.

  28. I like your yard, your snack mat and your post. We may need some of your rain as we keep missing all the chances we've been given. We've only had a sprinkle or two lately. My weekend was a busy one and I'm so pooped that I haven't had the energy to write a blog post. My aunt is needing me to take her to the doctor tomorrow, so we'll see what happens. Sorry your young grand was sick, poor fella. Hope he's feeling better by now.

  29. I'm admiring your moss phlox! I have some in my garden but the rabbits have taken a particular liking to it so it hasn't bloomed in years. I'm thinking if removing it. Sometimes it's just easier to surrender to nature. Sorry your grand was sick on the long weekend. Hope he's feeling better. xo
