Bookmarks and Things

This morning I was on a mission to be dressed and out the door to capture that fleeting two-hour window when our post office is open in the morning. Has your post office cut back its hours a lot? Ours sure has.

~morning light~

Then I remembered that I had received beautiful gifts last week from Linda at Linda's Life Journal that have gone unacknowledged.  Linda is an extraordinary woman who really does it all. In addition to being the grandmother of quadruplets and other lovely grands, she is an artist, a decorator of her charming abode, Love of her Beloved, and a wonderful daughter, mother, sister, friend. You would be blessed to visit her blog where you can read all about it. If you like a prolific blogger, Linda's your gal!

These are my precious bookmarks. My address book of blogging buddies has become a scrapbook of sorts, though my bookmarks are being put to good use elsewhere, trust me. You can find the little artists in training right on *this post.*
I love these kiddos and family and can see a lot of promise in these budding artists.

Thank you so much, Linda! Hug those quads for us!

***

This morning I was shipping a few things off to my friend Vickie who, like Linda, also happens to live in Texas.

These little cottage-style tea towels are fun and easy to make. They also are charming little Christmas gifts, don't you think?

One time, when I had featured a little box of Bell's Seasoning, Vickie commented how much she loved the graphics. I do, too, and often have it sitting out as a little Thanksgiving decoration. Can you get Bell's where you live? I think it may be just a New England thing. Anyway, Vickie will have a wee box of her own to display this Thanksgiving. When Vickie blogs, she does so at Sand Flat Farm

Another connection between Linda and Vickie is that they are both artists. You will find a link to some of Vickie's work in her sidebar.

Consider this a warning or a promise and act accordingly, but if you come back tomorrow, Friday at the latest, I have another Pilgrim story to share.

A happy day to you!

  1. Hi Vee- that's funny that you mention bookmarks. I made some cards yesterday and was thinking of making Christmas bookmarks to give the ladies in my civic women's club at our Candy Cane Gala.........the scraps I have are perfect for it and were gifted to me by a fellow women's clubber/scrapbooker.......I need to get heavier backing though so that's where it ended.

I just said goodbye to yet a different friend from that group who came to borrow a bunch of my Christmas china and glassware for two teas she's having in early December. We had fun picking out what she wanted to take. Choices makes it difficult. I really must keep downsizing, seriously have issues with collecting china. (But I am loads better, really!!)

I think your cottatge-style tea towels are SWEET - you bring such joy to those around you. ♥

Hope you are well, dear lady. Have a blessed day. Hugs.

  2. Good morning, Vee! Have I told you that I love your header? If not than let me tell you now...I just love your header! :)

I don't think you can have too many bookmarks and yours are simply lovely. And speaking of lovely, your tea towels are very sweet! The strip of rose fabric is quite charming.

    Happy Wednesday to you!

  3. Good morning, Vee! Your tea towels are so pretty. Every time I see one that you've made, I think, oh, yes, these would make wonderful gifts! Perhaps this is the year.
Bookmarks are among the most useful and misplaced items around here. I have a new intention (not quite a vow) to not turn the pages of my own books to keep my place. I'll be breaking a lifetime habit if I manage it.
I'm off to decorate the Angel Tree at our church this morning and am teaching one class each of Canadian History and English (Romeo and Juliet this afternoon). It's a busy week and I really want to get to my sewing! Duty calls.
    Have a wonderful Wednesday.

  4. Vee, I adore Linda..She is one busy loving lady. I like the towels. I think any gift made by hand is a special gift. Oh I do not want to lose any of our post services. It is getting a bit scary to think about. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  5. Hi Vee, Such nice gifted bookmarks from Linda; I intend to check out her blog momentarily. :) I love these daily posts that you do which are just about the details of your morning. The images are so cozy and seem to tell their own little stories. I love your transferware pitcher and the tea towel is CHARMING! Lucky the person who receives that for a Christmas gift!! Our post office hasn't cut their hours back a lot -- yet -- although I imagine they will eventually. I look forward to your pilgrim story, Vee!

    Warm hugs,

    Denise at Forest Manor

  10. Lovely gifts! Great work on the tea towel too. I'll check out those other bloggers later on. Please pray for Mr. Jim. He's at the hospital again. Still in ER, waiting on test results. Just cancelled the 1st part of our trip next week. The rest is unknown.

  11. The first photo is lovely and so are the bookmarks and tea towel. Our local post office has cut back on hours too...just realized that a few weeks ago when I went to mail a package and they were closed! It's inconvenient, but oh well...

  15. Although I do love your beautiful header, that pitcher with the arrangement is so pretty. Sweet bookmarks too. I don't think we get Bell's seasoning around here but the box is really nice...oh so vintage! And well, those little tee towels are just beyond adorable...lucky Linda :)

  16. Our post office has whacky hours also, but even worse we can't figure out when our delivery of mail is. Beautiful book marks--I love handmade. Hope your day was joyful, XOXO

  17. I like these tea towels. Do you buy a towel and add fabric to it or do you sew the whole thing?

Thank you for the link to Linda's blog and Vickie's. I'll try to pay them a visit. I like finding creative bloggers.

We've made some watercolor bookmarks using watercolor paper and my laminator. A nice simple project and useful!

  19. So much in this post that I want to comment on, but first... your header is lovely. I think it every time I come here and feel I have neglected to tell you.
I'm spending more time at the PO since acquiring a PO box for the business. I believe the hours remain the same and it seems to be a busy place most times I visit.
Lovely gifts you have given and received. The dishtowel is pretty and cheery. Sure to brighten Vickie's kitchen.
I don't think we have Bell's seasoning here. I will be looking next time I'm out and about.
I am glad you shared your blogger address book. Great idea and sure beats my system for little snippets tucked here and there.

  24. I love the pretty tea towel. I always think....I could do that! And try to remember it for later! I used a lot of bookmarks and tags that I've gotten from blog buddies over the years. All the pretty things make me feel special and I know we all feel that way. Enjoy your evening! Hugs to you and John, Diane

  25. Blog friends are so special aren't they? I've not seen that cute box of soda here. I love it though. My friend and I made gift tags today. We are not pros at this and don't have all the necessary tools but we had fun. I can't wait to hear your pilgrim story! xx

  26. So, dear Vee, do tell... what is Bell's Seasoning? Is it something every kitchen should have? If so I'll look for it next time I'm in Maine. Is it found in the average supermarket??

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It is a poultry seasoning sold only at this time of year...at least, that's the only time I can find it. John thinks every kitchen should have it! =D Yes, it should be in any grocery store. It was in my local IGA and I have found it at Wal*Mart.

  27. So nice to see/read you again Vee! I have not heard of Bell's seasoning - the box sure is pretty. I love your cottage T-towels - what a wonderful thing to gift for sure. I've been sewing some fun kitchen hand towels to give as gifts - not as pretty as your T-towels. Looking forward to your Pilgrim story! Blessings as you prepare for your Thanksgiving!

  28. Bell's Seasoning??? It must be a New England 'thing' - I have never seen it before and I would KNOW if I had! That's Amber's last name!
I am so glad you like the bookmarks! And THANK YOU for the idea of the address book for blogging buddies! Iam going to make one. I went back for one last look at your photos before posting my comment and started weeping. I really NOTICED your address book and saw the names and weights of the quadruplets and notations.......thank you once again for the prayers of you and John. I know in my heart y'all are part of why they survived and are healthy children. There! I said it! CHILDREN! They really aren't babies anymore. Love and prayers for you and John!
