Odd and Sundry

Yes, this will be the oddest and most sundry post of late or maybe not. I'm pretty all over the place on my best day. Anyway, I have three things to discuss: strawberry cheesecake, who is that woman, and playing with Fotor.

My friend Diane, who blogs privately, directed me to a strawberry cheesecake recipe. I thought it sounded divine. It does not taste as good as that; however, it is nearly gone and there has to be a reason. I think it helps to think of this dessert as a strawberry something, but not a strawberry cheesecake. It does not have the texture of a fine cheesecake, but is good for what it is — easy and light summertime flavors.
~strawberry cheesecake~

This next bit falls into the category of searching for the answer. I used to drive myself bonkers in the long-ago days before *oogle. Now it is a piece of cheesecake to find the answer to the question.

~who is this woman?~

A ha! Tessa Peake-Jones who played in So Haunt Me way back in 1992–1994 and who played this barely recognizable character in Granchester (2014). Phew! I can't have too many unanswered questions on this old brain; it starts to overheat.

Lastly, as I was visiting Mosaic Monday offerings, I noticed many new kinds of collages. *Judith* explained that she was using Fotor. So, of course, I wanted to use it,  too. What I have found is that, on my computer, it is not as stable as Photoscape ( a free, downloadable program), yet for a program that does not require downloading, it is good. I prefer to use it on my iPad so there is an app for that. That's where I created this offering using photos recently used on my blog.

~playing with Fotor~

Playing with Fotor was a lot of fun!
Now it's back to the dungeon for me.

Thanks for popping by...have a great Wednesday!

  1. Thanks for the smiles...I thought I was only one who went 'off the reservation', LOLOL. Just teasing...I always look forward to your posts, no matter what the topic(s) is/are. Blessings

  2. I tend to be Hodge Podgey in my thinking too. Hubby has hard time keeping sometimes. I always enjoy your musings. Tessa Peake-Jones is a good actress. She seems to be a real thespian, and not one of our American posers (i.e. Movie "stars" who can't act). Gotta try the Fotor. Very cool pictures. ~:)

  6. When life settles down a bit (next week? I hope?), I am going to have a look at that luscious looking summery dessert...and a look at Fotor as well. When I have some time to play!

I am not good at recognizing actors and I am impatient, so as soon as someone says "Who is that?" or "What else was he in?", I am off to IMDB too quick to talk about! :)

  7. I don't think I have ever heard of Fotor...I will definitely be checkin' it out! That strawberry-not-really-cheese-cake-thingy looks really good!

  8. Yeah I noticed Judith's mosaic…but didn't know what she did. I always learn something on your blog and today is no exception. Since I enjoy driving by houses at night and seeing lights in houses and thinking how cozy the people must feel tucked inside, I like your new header.

  9. Mmmm... the strawberry cheesecake looks quite yummy and oh-so-refreshing. Your photos look simply lovely, Vee! Have a beautiful day. Hugs!

  10. Good morning! Thought I'd make a surprise appearance here and shock everyone! I'm making 4 oz jellies today (can you believe that I volunteered to make 150 tiny jars of jelly for wedding favors for Hayley's wedding? What planet was I on that day?) I've got 3 1/2 doz. done and lots more to go! Anyway, I'll have to try that Fotor and Photoscape both. I haven't done any mosaics but you always have some nice ones! That strawberry "fluff" looks pretty and good - no wonder it's almost gone! Sadly, I haven't gotten into the british dramas. Just lack of time, and I don't control the remote. Maybe one day I'll watch all of them on Netfl*x!

BTW, I hope everyone visits to see your beautiful header and the wedding photos and the new grandgirlie sitting up all by herself.

  11. Your strawberry 'dessert' looks delicious and I'm sure is a refreshing summer treat. I must check out Fotor. Your mosaic is so beautiful!! Enjoy your afternoon in the dungeon. ;-}

  12. I'm so glad the strawberry something survived the taste testers approval. . .or maybe it just 'hit the spot' at that time.

I need to check out Fotor. Love that collage!

  13. The strawberry dessert looks light and fluffy...I was at a strawberry social this morning for the Christian Women Connection group I attend and the biscuit served was a stick in your throat dry type. :-( Lots of tea washed it down though.
I think we're all kids at heart when it comes to playing with software to create pretty things. It is odd about Fotor not being stable but I think I know what you mean whenever I use it. The collage above turned out nice and you were even adventurous enough to add polka dots to the background.
We're under a tornado warning but so far the sun is still shining.

  14. Well the strawberry dessert sure looks tasty, Vee, and I had told Judith that I wished I could take lessons from her. I'll have to check out Fotor on my iPad, as your mosaic is so pretty.
Enjoy your day, and I hope you're out of the dungeon soon!

  15. Vee, I must check out Fotor--your collage is lovely. I'm just learning how to use PicMonkey. It's great to just be able to check out facts online- Glad you solved your mystery. Now, don't stay in the dungeon too long! ♥

  16. That is a lovely collage, indeed. Great find.
Strawberry cheesecake sounds like great idea. Sort of. No, definitely. Yum.
Glad you figured out who that woman was. My brain nearly explodes sometimes when I run into those situations. :-)

  17. Strawberry dessert of any kind sounds good to me on this hot/humid day in GA! Thx for sharing about Fotor; I'll take a look. My brother loves to watch the old Perry Mason shows and figure out who the actors were back when they were "puppies" as he refers to them! It drives me crazy to recognize an actor's face or voice and not be able to find out.

  18. Your yard looks pretty and I enjoyed seeing your mosaic. The cheesecake looks delish, light, and refreshing. Perfect for a summer dessert. Enjoy the rest of your week, Vee. :)

  19. Odd and sundry posts are among my favorites. It's more like conversation with a friend isn't it? When it comes to dessert, good is good enough. I would eat that strawberry whatever it is, and enjoy it I'm sure :) The actress I don't recognize at all. I think I lead a rather sheltered life. Fotor is new to me. I'll have to give it a look see, I do like the polka dotted dividers between the collage. You have shared things that are all new to me. How fun was that! You have a great day too ;)

  20. I hope you've had a good day and got lots done! I'm off to play with some photos in this 'new' editing site. So if I don't get anything done....who can I blame? hahaha! Sweet hugs, Diane

  21. That strawberry something is a recipe I would like to see. I didn't see a link to it. I want to see that tv series, I am sure I will like it.

  22. I have a new discovery of a rhubarb pie recipe to share. It's very easy and I'm not even making home made pie crust these days. I used Pillsbury. Cut up enough rhubarb into short pieces, enough to generously fill a pie shell.Beat well 2 eggs and a cup of sugar and pour it over the rhubarb and bake as usual.

I really enjoyed that actress in Grantchester and never connected her to any other character. What an excellent memory you have, Vee.

  23. I need to go visit Fotor..
your strawberry pie looks so delicious...

  24. Dear Dungeon Resident, So glad you escaped for a few minutes to blog today. That woman! I've seen her in other stuff besides Grantchester, I'm sure. Now I'll have to look her up on IMDB, now that you gave us her name. Tessa-Peake (as in Chesapeake, good grief!) Anyway, I'm sure she's been in murder mysteries, never as the perpetrator, never as the victim, but maybe as a maid. Hmmm. Now I'm hungry real strawberry cheesecake. My strawberries should be in in another few weeks. I sure hope I don't make the cheesecake. I can't stay away from that stuff. It's my favorite! Are you shackled in the dungeon, or free to roam around in the dark?

  25. Fotor looks like a lot of fun. Your mosaic is great. I wish I was braver about trying new things online. We have a theory that Great Britain only has a total of 25 actors and actresses that keep being recycled everytime a new series comes up! Glad you got out of the dungeon for a while!

  26. Fotor looks like fun! I'll have to check it out. I'm glad you solved the puzzle of the actress, and that dessert looks good but not like cheesecake.

  27. Good luck on your dungeon!! How is it going with your cat?
I think I have our home smelling sweet again after all that musty water. I use every kind of home fragrance imaginable from fresh flowers to candles to lavender oil to plug ins to sprays to bouquets of fresh rosemary and mint.
I loved Grantchester!!! I can't seem to find anything to watch on TV these days!

  28. What? You didn't save me a piece of that strawberry cheesecake?! I would love to have a slice right now, but it's definitely the wrong time of day...er, night...to be eating. Hope all is well with you and yours!

  29. Well considering I love strawberry anything I will definitely be checking out that recipe....and yes old google solves soo much doesn't it? Fotor looks like fun so I'd better check that out too...But for now I am headed to bed. I'll look these up tomorrow!

  31. Your collage is great isn't it! Always good to try new things. I know what you mean about recognising actors, it is so annoying when you think, I know that person and can't remember their name! xx

  32. Thanks for the Fotor suggestion. I will look forward to experimenting as well. It's good for the rain and so much more fun than doing a crossword puzzle! Have a great day Vee !

  33. I use all kinds of photo editing sites...love them to pieces...takes an ordinary photo and adds color, brightness, interest....just fun to play with. And, now, I am hungry for anything strawberry and time for breakfast...Eggo with strawberry syrup and ham.....uh hu...sounds like a plan to me...

  34. I was like that as well pre-google: where oh where did I see them before? Now I don't even try to remember, It's straight to imdb. Did you like Granchester? I wasn't sure about it at first but it gradually grew on me.

  36. Hi Vee,
Yes, your Strawberry Dessert looks too light and fluffy to be a cheesecake, but it looks delicious nevertheless!

I have not heard of FOTOR, guess I'll have to check it out too. Your collage is lovely!
