Selfie Overload

Baby Me

Bigger Baby Me

Grade School K – grade 9

(My favorites? Kindergarten, grade 2, and grade 9)

Yes, I wrote on this board. I think it used to have one of those fancy frames like below. My cousin told me about asking a family member to please write on her pictures so that, in the future, people wouldn't have to guess about person, time, and place.

At his next visit, the relative was  happy to report that she had followed his advice. So he picked up a photo from the top of the pile and found written on the back "Taken last summer." ☺ I have labeled my entire life in a nutshell on the back of this. Do you label your photos?

High School

Oh yuck! Least favorite photos...

High School senior pic

↑Do I look a little green to you?

College

Highly pixelated as I lifted this from the yearbook. I am not going to go looking for it buried in some box or other under a bed. The others came to me quite handily in a box Monday evening.

My Kids

The Gallery Wall

The work continues!

Then I thought wouldn't it be torture fun to compare with a photo from today. You'll be shocked. I took three selfies this fine morning.

In a word or three, I feel old, tired, and pruney. One is allowed, I suppose, having reached my age.

Still, a smile is probably my best "beauty aid" at this point in my life. That and a haircut. I'm begging my hairdresser (John) to fit me in to his busy schedule tomorrow.

Thank you for reading/looking today. My apologies for a slow day around here...

Have a blessed weekend!

  1. I like your senior pic, you're so pretty! I am one of those (dufus) people who was sure I would remember my children's ages as I looked back on their photos. Now I can only guess what year/how old they are most of the time. If I could do it again I would AT LEAST jot the year on the back. Good luck with your photo sorting. The other thing I know now is that we usually take way too many.

  2. I recognize this vintage ! And your hair is so pretty. I also grew my hair in college. You must be having fun with all the memories. Oh yes, we are a family with writing on the back of (most) photos. Not working so well with digital. I remember visiting my uncle when he had Alz. I showed him a batch of photos and each and every one he turned over to see the writing on the back.

  3. Good morning! Well I can tell you I thoroughly enjoyed this! I loved all your pics, but especially the Senior one! Such soulful gorgeous eyes! I tell you whenever I take a selfie I am SOOO amazed at the gal looking back at me, lol. I mean I KNOW I've aged of course, but it's still shocking to me. You've still got those gorgeous eyes, but I agree the smile makes it! Half of my pics are marked with the year, but most are not....some day I will address the mess that is our pics. I've got that planned for our retirement.........never mind that I never worked outside of house so therefore am technically retired, trust me our pic situation is a two man job. Enjoy your week-end Vee. Oh, and do we get to see the new "do"?

  4. My mom began to write long descriptions on the back of some of her photos in her later years which was lovely to read once she was gone. On the other hand, it was quite a change from most of her photo keeping which are in a large box waiting for me to deal with them. There they sit along with my own photos gathering dust and waiting for the spirit to move me. I applaud
you for jumping into action with your family photos. I look forward to seeing your gallery wall. Perhaps it will be just the inspiration I need.
It was fun to see your photos through the years. Two things came to mind in every single one... beautiful hair and gorgeous eyes! I think my very favorite is "bigger baby me". How adorable!

  5. I read this post on my iPad yesterday but figured I'd comment later from my laptop but when I tried, it was gone. Now I know why! :-) you must have been adding photos. It's fun to look back at our hairstyles over the years and I wish I had my grade school photos but my parents never purchased them. My worst nightmare was the Afro perm I had in the early 70s. LOL
Had a discussion about wrinkles with a few ladies earlier this week and one who is about to turn 50 is devasted by how her skin is changing. Boy is she in for a surprise as the years tick by, us older gals told her wrinkles show wisdom, character, laughter and life. Look in the mirror again Vee and I'm sure you'll see these qualities about yourself too.

  7. I often have a hard time accepting the changes that aging brings, but I've known so many vibrant people who are in their 80's, including my dear mom. I hope to be one of them.

  8. Aww...it was great seeing this little pictorial tour of you through the years. I have gotten the impression as long as I have known you from blogging that you were trying to hide your face in your profile pics. I'm glad you decided to let us see how beautiful you are...love that last pic!

  9. I enjoyed seeing you through the years, Vee. I believe some of your grade school photos looks like one of your grandchildren. I love your last photo. It's nice to see the woman behind the words. xo ♥

  10. Thank you for sharing all of these "selfies". How fun to find all of those pictures and re-create your school years. I believe your children and grandchildren will be so glad to have these. I love the smile in your last picture. If I had long hair like yours, I'd be putting it up on my head and looking like Aunt Bea!

  15. I loved seeing all the pics through the years, Vee! I loved your high school and college pics, and seeing your hairstyles, which were very similar to mine, back in the day. I saw Christie Brinkley on the Today Show and she said that her best advice on aging is to smile, and I see you sent the same message to us. I love it!

  18. This post gets an A rating from this viewer. I loved looking at all your stages of clothes and hairstyles but always the same dear smile. My mama always said.. "you look prettier when you smile". That is one piece of advice that seems to become more true every year.

  19. You are as adorable now as you were then! And you do have a great smile! Thank you for sharing these cute photos!

I had my hair cut again yesterday. It had been 6 weeks, and my hair stylist Julie couldn't believe how much my hair had grown! I'll need to get it cut again before the wedding!

  20. Vee you were and still are beautiful. I walked with you when you cared for you mom and grandmom, I know your heart and it is full of kindness and love for others. It shows in your eyes. Blessings to you. I always told my children if you always wear a smile no one will ever notice what else is going on. Great respect for you Miz Vee.

  21. Oh Vee - you are just so cute! The baby pictures are such a treasure and what a beauty you are. Your beautiful smile lights up the room!

  22. Vee, You are still cute and still you. My SIL wrote the age of people to the fraction on photos. I used to make fun of her for that...now I am the sad one. I wish I had written on all photos. At least the year. LOL. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  23. Oh Vee. I loved seeing your photos from your childhood days. You grew from a cute little girl to a pretty young lady.
Honestly, I'm feeling the same as you whenever I see myself in the mirror. All part of aging, I guess.
So you are getting your hair cut....We'll have to see a selfie of the new do!

  26. Cute girl and a lovely lady! If I remember right, I'm around 10 years older than you are so you can imagine how I feel when I look in the mirror! I'm like...who is that woman? I don't know her. lol! You are a beautiful person inside and out, dear friend. Take care and enjoy your day!

  27. I enjoyed looking at all your old photos. Writing on the back of photos is a good thing, I have a box of unidentified photos to prove it. One of my goals (someday) is to scan all of my old family photos and label what I can.....someday!

  28. awww, it's always so fun to look at olden photos...and, yes, my mama told me yrs ago to write names and dates on the back of photos. I did....now, of course, they are all on my computer.

  29. Well this was fun, and I didn't have the slightest inclination to punch anyone in the throat! Lol. I'm going no one ever sees my fifth grade photo. By the way, I do love that first grade photo of you!! I used to be good about labeling photos. Now they're all labeled but digital. It's terrible. If the grid goes down, all will be lost.

  32. Oh, I love that last picture of you! You have such a pretty smile and such twinkly eyes. I can definitely see your sense of humor and kindness here. And I think I had all the same hairstyles as you, haha. Thanks for sharing your pictures with us. xo Deborah

  33. Why Vee you were a beautiful baby, child, young woman and now you are a beautiful mature woman with the prettiest smile! I cringe when I look at childhood photos of myself as I was the skinny awkward tall girl with glasses, too short bangs and permed hair. I did improve in appearance as a young woman and mother when I had more control over how I looked. Now when I look in the mirror the face I see --when I can see--lol--is more and more like my mothers face. It's best to keep smiling--not only does it make us look better it also helps us feel better!

  34. Hi Vee - it's always kind of fun to look back on the way we were. You have aged well and are now a beautiful mature woman. Your inner beauty and character shines through.

  35. I am a little late getting here this evening, Vee, still having some blurred vision,(expected)! FYI I smiled alll the way through this post, loved all the photos, especially the senior one, Oh!!! and the baby photo was precious too!
I am now wishing I had labeled my photos, simply because of my senior moments! I am told the memory thing doesn't get any better!~smile~
Thanks for your prayers and encouragement!
    Love,
    Sue

  40. Loved, loved, loved these photos of you, dear Vee! Such a pretty baby, girl and young lady! Now then, before I read all your post and you posted current pics of yourself and complained about your looks.... I thought to myself and said aloud to your PICTURE - "Vee, all you gotta do is SMILE!" You're still beautiful YOU!
