A Haven for Vee

A Winner!

And you didn't even know I was having a Giveaway! I'm sneaky like that. When I first showed you my lovely puzzle, a win from Catherine Holman, I asked when you thought it might be finished. There were a number of guesses. The guess of eight days was the closest. I actually finished in nine, last Friday to be precise.

Probably should have taken a little more time working it because being hunched over  the table resulted in vertigo. I was pretty much out of it for Saturday, but by Sunday, after wearing a collar to remind me not to bend, I was feeling ever so much better. This getting older stuff is for the birds.

Probably now is not the time to mention my number one thought for last night's Downton Abbey... Life is short and death is sure.

I have a little package for
Deanna of Creekside Cottage
for guessing eight days! It will include the puzzle (of course), a wonderful cleaning cloth that I have fallen in love with over the past several months. Not mine! A new one! (It was shared with me by Lovella of What Matters Most. I like to think that this is a pay it forward kind of gift. Thank you, Lovella, I have already gotten at least three more gals to fall in love with them, too. It does all that you said and more.) And perhaps a wee surprise, if I make it back into my sewing room in time.
Many thanks to you, Catherine for all the hours of fun.

Let's enjoy a wonderful February!

  2. Oh no! I'm so sorry your weekend was spent so uncomfortable. Glad to hear you're on the mend. Glad you're not giving away your used cleaning cloth, I was worried for a moment. Well . . at least you finished the puzzle before the vertigo set in.

  3. What a gorgeous puzzle! My darling mother used to love puzzles and me...no! I cannot do puzzles...makes me crazy! Good for you! Hope you feel better Vee....Vertigo can be horrible I hear! Stay warm and have a lovely week! And yes...finally there was some excitement on Downton!!!

  4. Beautiful puzzle, sorry it gave you vertigo. That can't be fun! Of course, last night Downton just wouldn't come in, (we have an antennae, no cable) and I was exhausted from a sleepless night the night before and couldn't keep my eyes open. Now I need to get online and see that episode and see who died!

  5. Good morning! I am loving the puzzle! Good work! However sorry to hear it gave you vertigo! Yes, I agree aging is the pits. Haven't seen last nights episode of Downton yet but I am gathering someone must have died...oh no....We will watch tonight. Enjoy your day Vee

  6. Oh, the finished puzzle is just gorgeous! It must have been so much fun to work on. Vertigo is one of the most difficult afflictions, I think. And I do find it can come on if I bend my neck at just the wrong angle -- either down (hunched over a puzzle) or up (cleaning a ceiling, reaching into a high cabinet). Glad you are feeling better. And congratulations to the giveaway winner!

  7. Congratulations on completing your puzzle so quickly! I followed your lead and brought a flashlight to help me build Highclere Castle behind the cast of Downton characters. I was able to pop in about 40 pieces last time I seriously sat down to work on it. Progress is slow but I will persist. It's time to set up my sewing machine again... How nice of you to pay your puzzle and a spiffy cleaning cloth forward!

  9. The finished puzzle is so darn cute. I think you have solved the question of what to do with a puzzle once you've completed it. Sharing it with someone else is a great answer and I imagine Deanna will be delighted with your surprise giveaway.
Sorry to hear that you spent part of the weekend dealing with vertigo. That is no fun at all.
I am now curious about these cleaning cloths. Have you done a blog about them?
    Happy February!

  10. Congrats to Deanna on the surprise give-away!! (Yes, you are a sneaky one, Vee! Sneaking in goodies like that!) :)

I am glad that your vertigo is better. That is a wretched condition.

  11. Last night was pretty graphic wasn't it? I love your header, it seems to say, "come in, don an apron and let's have a cup of tea." Congrats to Deanna, she's a perfect one to use that puzzle. Yes, let's be optimistic about February.

  12. Please tell us more about the cleaning cloth. I love anything that makes cleaning easier and a bit more fun. I've been using Fly Lady's cleaning cloths, but am always open to something new to try.

The puzzle is beautiful. All of her artwork is wonderful and I think it's great that she' diversified and used other useful ways to share her work.

  13. How nice you are to sneak in a gift like that. The element of surprise...I love it! Congrats to Deanna! I must check out the cleaning cloth you speak of.
Vertigo is so dreadful..I do hope today finds you more balanced. ♥

  14. Love that puzzle. You sneaky little minx you. I ended up with a pinched nerve in my neck due to the close work of making jewelry. I had not thought about wearing a neck brace but I am out to order one. I have not made jewelry, crocheted or watch my Kindle with my head down for about 4 months and I am better. Don't want to get in the same situation again. Have a good Fed. Vee

  15. Nice of you to sneak in a giveaway like that. : ) Congrats to the lucky winner.
I've just started yet another puzzle!

  16. I hope Deanna doesn't take the Downton quotation too personally. LOL Congratulations to her!! Sounds lovely. I have the same problem when working jigsaw puzzles. Kills your neck.

On to Downton, this is one episode where Julian Fellowes left me doubting his honesty in the outcome of the event. I just don't believe it would have happened like that in that time period. I won't say more because I know there are those who watch Downton later and don't consider it appointment TV as I do. :-))

    1. Deanna is just a sweet young thing with a family who will help with that puzzle. It won't take them a day!

  17. Congrats to Deanna! I'll have to check out this cleaning cloth now.
That DA quote had me thinking too, Vee. I agree with Linda, Daisis a brat!

  18. The puzzle turned out great! What a fun project (minus the vertigo, of course) for the depths of winter.

  19. Well how sneaky you are. About last nights episode... I don't think I ever had a more gasping reaction to any of the episodes yet. I was so so happy to be able to see the rest of the season on the heels of that one! Katie and I marathoned it on Saturday. Don't worry, no spoilers!

  20. Your puzzle really has a beautiful scene on it and lucky Deanna for winning it! I'm still puzzling but haven't done any for 3 or 4 days. Today my neck and shoulder is stiff from making a snowman.

  21. What a pretty puzzle! I have found an app on my ipad for jigsaw puzzles and I love it! I spend way too much time there, though! I also tend to hunch, especially at the desk computer and I have to remind myself to stretch every little bit.

  22. Hi Vee!

Your puzzle looks beautiful, eight days is awesome, it would have taken me a month. So sorry to hear about the vertigo, that's no fun!

Gotta love DA! I will be sad when it's all over, it keeps me dreaming!

    Have a wonderful week, Vee!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  24. Your puzzle is a delight! Well done, except for the vertigo. I have an occasional vertigo from lose crystals in my ear but changing position can stop it quickly. I hope you find a way to stop having this yourself. It's really not fun! Be well, Vee!

  34. Great job on the puzzle...it's beautiful! I know that putting so much time in a long project like that can really take it's toll on out aging bodies...as much as I try to deny I'm getting old =] And about that Downton episode...I saw something coming but never thought I'd see that. Wow....just wow!

  37. What a cute puzzle. We started one when two of the grandchildren were here this past summer, we didn't finish it because the 7 year old who is the puzzle whiz was not here to help us :) Enjoyed catching up on your blog.

  38. Woo Hoo! Thanks Vee!

I'm sorry about the vertigo! Our friend Becky has been struggling with that too, but hers is related to having some fluid in the inner ear, I believe. Glad you are feeling better.

That puzzle is so cute! I'm looking forward to it! I'm sure I'll have lots of help with it, whether I want help or not!

    What fun!

  39. The puzzle is very pretty and I'd love to be able to put one together, but I have too many cats. If I set it up behind closed doors, they would tear the door down to get in. :) The brats. Yes, they have me trained very well. Vertigo is no fun as I know only too well. Glad yours is better now. Take care and have a nice week!

  40. Hello Vee, so sorry about the vertigo, so glad it is better, Yes getting old is rough sometimes. Love the puzzle and round toboot, what no corners now that gives me vertigo!

  41. That is a beautiful puzzle. I would have thought that it would have taken a little longer, but I can't imagine working a round puzzle anyway.

  42. Good job finishing that puzzle so quickly! It has such a charming design. Congrats to Deanna for winning it. Hope your vertigo went away for good--not a pleasant aliment.

  43. I'm remembering here the sweet apron you sent me so long ago. I have used it to copy the pattern to make aprons for my friends. I love how we can connect and then pass it forward.

    Very neat puzzle!
