A Haven for Vee

This Week's Offering

Like many of you we are enjoying biding the
snow~on~daffodils weather today. It is a frustration just because we have been so thoroughly spoiled by the mildest winter in recent memory.

Still, it is not nearly as frying as finding that my  icon blog roll took it upon itself to dump many blogs. I have been busily trying to reconstruct it. Just thought of another one! Little Birdie Blessings is gone. Coffee Tea Books and Me had been, Creekside Cottage as well...oh-oh and Hospitality Lane is another. See, I should get a list to remember them all. I used to think it was just a few and now I know that it has been several dozen. Yikes! If I am among the missing in your corner,  please ring a bell and let me know. My poor brain is just now coming out of its month long fog.

Okay, moving on. I may not have the energy it requires to explain these random photos. With the exception of the one below, they are a collection of my week.

~↑my wee house↑~

I showed my view last week, which happens to be my neighbor's home and tricked a few people into believing that that big, beautiful home is mine. Not so, this is my wee haven pictured in January from beside the flag. We never had more snow than this. There's my kitchen window and the main entry to my home because the front door is not used.

Back inside on the kitchen windowsill...a can of herbs growing...basil just up. The fork in the tea pot is being used as my garden rake.

This is how John takes care of Daylight Savings Time. We like the additional light at the end of the day, but I know that some do not. Either way, I hope that a week of DST has helped with the adjustment. We noticed this morning that we are back on schedule after a week of being a little off.

This was my nod to St. Pat's Day. It's a
It was delicious and we really enjoyed it as toast.

By the time I return next week, Good Friday and Easter will have been honored. May you have a blessed springy week.

(Yes, some fine day, I hope to have a real post, whatever that is. )

  1. Good snowy spring morning Vee! Yep, we're getting it too, and bad enough the schools are closed again. Murray is working from home today which I like. I'm sorry about the loss of all the blogs you follow. So strange. Mine appear to be intact and yours was right at the top of the list. DST threw me for a loop all week too but I think I got caught up as I feel much better this morning. We (Murray mostly with band practice) have a busy week and Easter weekend ahead with 3 celebration services at church. It is such a special time of year. I wish you and John a blessed Easter. Hopefully the snow will be a memory (although I see more coming on Friday!). Blessings, Pam

  3. I can't believe this cold weather. It's gonna kill all the buds and things. Well, we get what the good Lord sends our way and try not to complain.

  4. Vee, crazy weather all around the country feels a little odd. The heat is back on after a three week respite. I love the little teapot with its wee rake. I'll have to give the tea brack a try--sounds interesting. Blessings to you and yours this Holy Week. ♥

  5. I think the weather had been crazy worldwide. Here in the UK the winter was so mild daffodils were starting to bloom in January. Have a wonderful Easter.

  6. If the snow is still on the ground on Easter have the grandsons over for an Easter egg hunt using only white eggs!

  7. I love your cozy cottage. We are at the point of considering downsizing. We have a lake lot that was given to us by some dear friends and we may be building a small (under 1000 sq. foot) home. We've never built before and don't know if we could survive it.
I just googled Garden in a Can and will have to try that out! I love the idea and your little fork/rake in your tea pot is so cute!
Glad to see you are feeling somewhat better!

Hope you have a wonderful Easter week filled with joy and peace!

  9. Hi Vee, the weather is strange here, too. One day it's in the 70s and then the next we might be shivering from the cold.
I hope you get your blog roll figured out. Is the same list on your dashboard?
Nice capture of John on the furniture...looks like something my hubby might do! lol!
Happy Easter to you and John and have a wonderful week!

  10. We have been lucky here in SC with warm weather. Though the next few days there are freeze warnings out for the night. Sending you warmer weather wishes!

  11. Spring is still sprung over here in Snoqualmie! The ground is very wet outside this morning but it's currently not raining. Still your photos bring the Springtime!

  12. Nice pictures, liked the teapot in the kitchen window and the one with the postcard, teacup and books. Of course John standing on the furniture with his shoes on, good one. I'm glad you noticed I was missing on your blog roll, but I assure you, you haven't missed much. Snowing here, no school. Have a delightful day.

  13. No snow here - haven't seen a single flake this winter. DST didn't bother us too much this year since we were both off work and taking a bit of a holiday - sleeping in, staying up late (to 11:00 a couple of nights - oh my!). Now Tim's back to work and the alarm this morning jolted us back to reality.
John's perch looks a little precarious, shoes or no shoes. The teapot, and composite photos are lovely glimpses into your cozy home. I hope you get your blog roll sorted soon - are you using bloglovin or feedly or the blogger list? Have a great week, Vee.

  14. I think we only got a flake or two of snow this year. But it's chilly again today after warm weather last week brought spring full blown. I like your every day posts!

  18. Oh dear, these wayward and random Blog glitches can be so annoying! My daffodils are coming up too, but so far no...I'm not going to say it, but you know, that white stuff. Oh John, you are so busted standing on the furniture with your shoes! Lol. Happy Easter sweet Vee!

  22. That's so weird that your blog list disappeared! I think Blogger has been acting a little slow lately but nothing worse than that, thankfully. We may get snow this week too :( Just started my basil so it will be a while before I see little sprouts like you have. Have a Happy Easter, Vee!

I hope we have just had the last of the snow here last night.

  25. How very strange that your blog list took it upon itself to clean house. I often find myself checking out your list when I'm out visiting. I've never been one for using a reader. I still enjoy visiting from the good old-fashioned blog rolls. Perhaps that is becoming an unstable method.
Your little tea pot in the window is so cute. I figured the fork was there to look like smoke swirling out of the chimney.
I'm off to check out your recipe. It looks delicious!!

  26. We are having a variable spring--70's one day, snow the next! It sure keeps life interesting..lol I eliminated a blog list on my blog sidebar a couple years ago when one of them was infected with a virus and Google was picking it up as being on my blog. When I took off the blog listings the virus went away and I never put it back on. Now I have problems with my comments being bounced back to me and not going into bloggers mailboxes. I think a few people don't comment on my blog any longer as they don't read my comment on their blog interface, where it stills shows up, but only click through through e-mail, and therefore they do not see my comments..sigh. Or, it could be that they don't like me any longer---yikes! One thing I've learned is not to take anything like that personally--life is too short!

Have a very Happy and Blessed Easter!!

  27. Not a single snow flake and very little frost. My geraniums all survived in their pots, outside and without any protection.
As for a real post - well this one seemed just right to me.

  28. Bad John, bad!!! (grinning and giggling) No standing on the furniture with your shoes on...it snowed here all day yesterday, but most of it did not stick. I love the photos you posted and I love your house...truly I do. Blessings

  35. Happy Easter Vee! Everything is white outside in our world. It's to be expected but still goes against the grain when we could see a brown world last week...oh well our turn will come at some point this spring. In the meantime blogs are great places to spot signs of spring!

  37. I've made that Tea Brach before. It is very good. I'm pondering just what baked goods to take to our Easter breakfast at church (assuming I'm able to get there). Too many good recipes to choose from! A crazy week here with eldercare, probably with several more crazy weeks to come. Hope you and John will have a truly blessed Easter.

I enjoyed your post...we are all looking forward to Easter altho I'm not sure we are going to be feeling very well...my hubs just made an appt. to see our doctor as his chest is congested this morning and coughing his head off...we could just close the doors and draw the curtains for Easter except that a grandson is making a trip home from Oregon and we just CAN'T be sick while he's here....booo hoooo

  41. Hi Vee!

We got snowed on last night - about 1/2 inch, not much, but enough to remind me that it's still only March. Your wee house is beautiful! There are really large homes behind me, and whenever I go to one, I'm always thankful for my, wee home! They are just beautiful, but I wouldn't want to clean them!

I am one who does not like Daylight Savings. It really throws off my internal clock. I agree that the extra daylight in the evening is nice, I just wish it would hurry an get warm so I could enjoy it!

    Have a wonderful Easter!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  42. How I wish I knew you personally. I want to thank you for the comments on my Soulful Friday last week about the scandal in our church. Many folks don't want to even talk about it but I am a realist and cannot help it. I love your home. I call ours our nest. So happy you and John have yours.

  43. Hi Vee
I'm wondering if you were dumped on with that snow storm reported on the news...Hopefully you won't have a snowy Spring to make up for such a nice Winter. I tried to keep my herbs over the winter in the basement, but they look pretty straggly. I guess I'll throw them in the ground and see what happens...Have a blessed Easter. Every coming to your place?

  48. I followed over here from your comment this morning and this is the first time I've seen this post! I must check my blog list and make sure YOU didn't disappear! One time I decided to clean up my list! I was on my iPad and was new to using it! I accidentally deleted some I didn't mean to and could find no way of figuring out which ones! I was determined to get the blog that came up all the time - a commercial blog I did NOT want to follow - OFF! I did that and then some!
Love all your photos and the tea cup, Bible and cross was my favorite!
    Wishing you a wonderful week!
