Fishy Hodge Podge

1. Have you ever been fishing?

yes

 Did you catch a fish?

no

If so did you keep it or throw it back?

If I had caught a fish, I would have kept it.

If you haven't been fishing is that something you'd like to try?

Since I did not catch a fish either time, I have never wished to fish again. Perhaps I gave up too quickly.

Fish out of water, big fish in a small pond, living in a fishbowl, packed in like sardines, this is a fine kettle of fish, plenty of fish in the sea, or cut bait...which fishy phrase most recently applies to some area of your life?

this is a fine kettle of fish

2. What's something you're always fishing for in your purse, wallet, desk, or kitchen junk drawer?

keys

3. Your favorite fish tale or movie?

John 21 when Jesus prepared the fish and bread for His disciples to eat. What a meal that must have been!

4. Are you sunrise, daylight, twilight or night? Explain why you chose your answer.

My brain is not bending this way this morning...that must mean that I am a foggy morning before the sun burns off the confusion, but knowing that a better day is coming.

5. What's the oldest piece of clothing you own and still wear?

My "good" winter coat is 24 years old! Yes, I still wear it from time to time.

6. We've got one more month of (officially) winter here in the Northern hemisphere. Are you feeling the need for a getaway? What's been the best and worst part of your winter so far?

Since I must travel the old-fashioned way, I'll just stay home. The worst part about this winter of my discontent has been the isolation caused by high walls of snow and ice dams both literal and metaphorical. The best part is hope for a brighter future. After a winter in the northern hemisphere, everything will be looking up soon.

 7.  The Wednesday Hodgepodge lands on National Margarita Day...will you be celebrating? Frozen or on the rocks? Are you a Jimmy Buffet fan? If so, what's your favorite JB tune?

No, I do not drink anything stronger than a virgin daiquiri because I like drinks to taste sweet like soda. Might just as well stick with soda for a special beverage since that is the case. Jimmy Buffet... wouldn't describe myself as a fan, though his music is catchy enough.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

My fondest wish is that everyone would calm down and allow the Holy Spirit to do His work.

have so much chaos in my life, it's become normal. You become used to it. You have to just relax, calm down, take a deep breath and try to see how you can make things work rather than complain about how they're wrong. ~Tom Welling

Yup, I'll be taking Tom's advice to heart...

Alas, I have no time to participate in the Hodge Podge today, but I hope that you do! Give it a try. It's fun and the work has been done for you!

  3. Hi Vee, My answers re fishing and Jimmy Buffet would be the same as yours. I agree with your random thought completely. I hope your snow situation improves soon. Remembering you in prayer today. xo

  4. Excellent fish tale! I chide myself that my head didn't go there first. I saw 'Movie' and that's what I thought of. I hope you're feeling better soon...being a northerner myself, I understand the isolation.

  6. Always love your Hodge Podge posts, Vee. I do hope your snow piles are melting and you feel less isolated. We are enjoying a week of "just above freezing" temps - so assuming you are as well. Take heart dear Vee, Spring IS on its way! Won't be long now.

  7. I enjoyed your fish tales! I'm with you on your random thought. Praying the Holy Spirit calms me down as I face a drive across the snowy pass. I suppose I won't be able to get around and visit everyone today. oops. Our kids got an ice dam on one of their sky lights and the melting water on the roof came in instead of down the roof. OYE. Not fun. Hope things get bright for you!

  8. I can't imagine the snow you are having over there. We are having a really mild Winter. I am not a gambling woman but I would money on your coat been better made than what you buy these days. A classic style is always in fashion. Take care.

  10. Vee, I love your fishy tales....

    1. Have you ever been fishing?

yes...oceans, lakes, ponds. I actually have a small fishing pond in my back yard. YAY!

    Did you catch a fish?

    Yes

If so did you keep it or throw it back?

I it's big enough to fry I keep them!

If you haven't been fishing is that something you'd like to try?

Living in a Fish bowl right now Dear Vee. Since my mini stroke needless to say my sweet man and three daughters tend to watch me like a hawk! Love them for it but it's time to loosen up the straps. LOL!

    2. What's something you're always fishing for in your purse, wallet, desk, or kitchen junk drawer?

Oh it is indeed my keys. I am just like my granny used to be...I fumble in that purse so much that I irritate myself.

    3. Your favorite fish tale or movie?

Ooh I love that story too vee bout the boy and the fish. We are actually going to be talking some about that tonight in Bible Study. I must say that the movie I loved so much and enjoyed watching with my grands was Finding Nemo!

    4. Are you sunrise, daylight, twilight or night? Explain why you chose your answer.
    Daylight sounds good!

    5. What's the oldest piece of clothing you own and still wear?
LOL! I have this basic black dress that I love. Knee length, sleeveless and fitted. When I felt my arms had gotten to flabby for the sleeveless I began to wear little jackets, sweaters, or even open front tops. But I have dressed that little black dress up with many different colored scarves, broaches, and colors. I love that dress!
    6. We've got one more month of (officially) winter here in the Northern hemisphere. Are you feeling the need for a getaway? What's been the best and worst part of your winter so far?

In Florida I am not we qualify for Winter per say! We've actually not had enough winter for me to complain about. But...I would love a getaway!

I'm not a fan per say either Vee but I do like some of his songs. My favorite was Brown eyed girl. And if I was going to drink a margarita it would be on the rocks. Been so long since I had one of those that I'd probably pass out after the first sip! LOL!

    8. Insert your own random thought here.

Today is the day that the Lord has made. Let us be glad and rejoice in it.

Hugs to you today Dear Vee.

  11. Hope the weather is milder for you soon and you can get outside. It's been like spring the last few days, but it's supposed to be cold again this weekend. Hugs!

  12. I enjoyed your answers...very straightforward and to the point...I like it! Also really loved your random thought and Tom's advice :)

  13. #3 was the same as mine; your answer to #4 was very good. "Foggy morning before the sun burns off" should definitely have been one of the choices! Loved your random thought. Much more profound and meaningful than mine!

  14. Fun fishiness here. I do hope the ice walls, both literal and metaphoric, melt for you soon.

    ReplyDelete
  15. That was fun, Vee. As spring begins to slide in, as it always done, I hope those big ice dams and ice walls slide out!

  16. Too funny! I loved reading all of your answers! It sounds like you have way more snow than we do here in Southern NH and even what we had was PLENTY! After the beautiful day we had today, I am quite ready for spring. So if it arrives early, I am fine with that! Hopefully a lot of your snow will melt as tomorrow is supposed to be quite warm too! Enjoy the rest of the week, Vee!

  17. The quote from Tom Welling -- very good. I saved it for future pondering.

As for the dreary winter -- it will eventually end. Hang in there. Keep up the blogging. I love to read your stuff!!

  18. Hi Vee!

I really enjoy these, Hodge Podge days! I love to fish . . . although I usually do in in the comfort of my own trailer, while everyone else freezes on the river! And, I agree with, Diane. No. 8 was perfect! I have skirt that I wore to my daughters wedding 20 years ago - I still wear it, why not?!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  19. Winter with walls of snow and ice something I could never imagine, winter here is cool and sometimes very cold but none of the white stuff, but our summer this year was hell on earth so so hot.

  21. There's just something about a good winter coat, isn't there! BTW, you mentioned that your snow is melting 'at a remarkable clip.' (I think that's what you said. ANYway, I was just using that expression about walking, 'I walk at a pretty good clip.' And I definitely heard my dad's voice, in a sense. I'm sure that expression came from him. SO, I'm wondering, do you ever hear anyone else using that, or is it just you and me?? I think we need to use it more often. I agree with your random. (and probably lots of other stuff too).

  22. No fishing for me but Louis Dean and I read that passage in the Bible this morning!
I'm a big Jimmy Buffet fan and we enjoyed going to Margaritaville in San Antonio. They really do have the BEST margaritas!!

  23. Good hodgepodge!

I'm a soda drinker, too, for a special drink. I like the advice in the quote!

    Praying for Spring for Maine!
