A Haven for Vee

Tuesday, September 30, 2014

Hello

Here I am as promised. I am well; thank you for asking. I did enjoy my time away. As you may remember, I'm working toward finding the balance between being in Blogdom an inordinate amount of time and not being here at all. My head and heart want to be here; my body can't handle it.
Today I'm documenting September using Cheryl's Gathering the Moments. (Linking to, but not participating in, that is.) Though these photos have not been featured, they'll look familiar. ☺

Taken the last Sunday of September ↑. We're still in "low" color mode. I'm sure that will change quickly.

Sometimes we look over hill and dale for color and find it right under our crunch wraps.

Around the block and in the neighborhood ↑

Oh! Sneaked that crunch wrap in again. These are some of my late September flowers and some taken at the Community Garden.

September in the dooryard...why, yes, the leaves did just line themselves up that way. The bright red berries are the Jack in the Pulpit. Hope that he comes back again next year.

September in the house and through the windows...

September on the deck...

Enjoying September on the deck all Sunday afternoon when the temperature was 80F, the humidity was low, and the bugs were few.

September Soccer Games... the grands don't play on the same team this year so there's brotherly support from the sidelines.

September Sam is enjoying his position as goalie...

And if I had been around to participate in Donna's Photo Challenge, this is the photo I might have selected: Pizza making!
A happy October to you! I am, you guessed it, taking another month. As always, many blessings.

  2. Oh, leaves turning in your neck of the woods. Not so here, yet. But, I am going to be going to the mountains in a couple/three weeks and they should be fab. then. Have a great week. Good to see you back.

  3. Enjoyed seeing all your September moments! Great pictures...soo pretty! I've miss you! I am glad your doing better though. HUGS to you!!

  4. Nice to see fall colours where you are and a couple of teacups that look like they might have an autumn pattern to them. Did you have to coax that smile from John? A nice progression and end result.
Enjoy your next month of keeping busy - pumpkin cookies in the oven perhaps.
Oh yes, and Glenn says hello to you after I read your post title out loud. :-)

  7. How lovely to hear from you Vee! Thank you ever so much for sharing snippets of autumn where you live! Many blessings to you!

  8. So nice to hear you're still out there. I've been thinking about how to blog less and enjoy it more. Have a good and productive October, Vee. When you have tons of spare time, check out the book I mentioned in a post a few days ago, I & II Thessalonians commentary by Grant Hughes (I think). Our Bible study group has been working our way through Thess. and this book is excellent!

  9. It's nice to see a post from you, Vee. It looks like ou have had a pleasant September and I love your fall photos. Have a blessed day!

  10. Nice to see your post Vee. Fall is starting to look really pretty in your area. Love the photo of the leaves lined up on the step/deck.

  11. Oh, it's so good to see you here in your Haven...and to know that all is well. John's smile (he has such a nice smile...warm and genuine) affirms that all is well. :)

September looks lovely in your corner! Could there be a prettier place than Maine in autumn? During the peak of color, I think I'd just be going from one spot to another, soaking it all in.

Loved seeing the boys playing and cheering one another on! Loved peeking inside your home! Loved seeing that Friendly Village tea cup! Loved the views outside your window! Loved this post!

Thanks for popping in for a visit and for "gathering" your moments to record and to share. Happy October! :D

  12. And a BIG hello back to you, Vee! Lovely to see you. I'm glad you've enjoyed your time away and hopefully you've discovered (or are discovering) your blogging/rest of your life sweet spot.

Many hugs ... enjoyed your photo catch - up, especially John smile in the making!

  13. How wonderful to find you here. Your photos are wonderful. It's looking as if you'll have a gorgeous autumn.

Please, when you find the balance between home and blogdom, share what you've learned.

  14. Hello Vee,
So good to see what your September was filled with. Enjoyed the progression of John's smile. Happy last day of September...

  15. I am pleased to hear you are well. I'm enjoying my blogdom sabatical as well. I think I needed this time to "regroup", think about the future (and the past), and make plans. I'm not the type that has to air all my thoughts to the world to make a decision or heal. I gather you're the same way. :) In my case, it's a healing. The pain of losing two beloved dogs so close together and many other things where weighing me into the earth. I hold on too tightly to ones I love. Jesus is graciously healing this troubled heart. Balance. As in motorcycling, it's all about balance. Oh, and momentum is definitely your friend. *giggle* Funny how motorcycling and life are so similar.
Stay focused and never forget to breathe. Have a blessed day! ~:)

  16. Hi Vee! I'm glad you're enjoying your break but it's nice to see a post from you! Finding that balance is tough. Love these gorgeous fall photos you've shared! Enjoy your October and hope to see you again soon! xoxo

  17. Dear Vee, we are called to be wise in all areas! I try to balance my blog with real life and what is required of me. So glad we can all realize different chapters and seasons in our lives. Your Fall pictures were so pretty!
I want to say that this helps others put it all into perspective. We have natures that can become addicted to even productive things or things just for pleasure. I admire this quality in people.
Lovely October to you as we finish September.
My grandson came in one day and he said, well here you are in the same place you were yesterday OUCH....
    Always, Roxy

  18. Hi Vee...so good of you to share your September moments with us! Looks like you are getting some beautiful color...not much here yet but it's coming! Loved the collage of the progression of a smile (I think you should frame it) and that last one of the hands in motion with the pizza dough. I hope your October is blessed!

  19. So nice to see a post from you Vee. You always make me smile, with your crunch-wrap-type comments. Beautiful pictures of a beautiful season.
I really understand the dilemma, well maybe not totally b/c you've been blogging a lot longer. If you come up with a good way to balance our time, let us know. In the meantime, I'm sure many will be happy to hear from you even if you only post once a month. Blessings, Deborah ps, happy-looking husband!

  20. I enjoyed your photos and an update. Glad you are ok and I hope October is filled with many blessings.

  21. And hello to you! It was good to see an update from your haven this morning. It looks like you had a lovely September...behind the scenes. :) There's not much colour in this part of the world as yet...other than green. Enjoy this last day of September...and happy autumn to you and John.

  22. I was hoping that you would gather the moments for September as you said you might. I loved your photos, and your "low color" would be high color here. It has been quiet here in Blogville this month. I do understand exactly why you need to find this balance and take this break, though. I hope you get that balance soon and come back more often. Maybe you can give the rest of us some good balance tips when you do.

(When you look at it, I've only blogged a few more times than you this month, and I'm not on an official break. Kind of makes me look pathetic.)

Oh! And I almost forgot to say that the evolution of a smile is my favorite part. I love love. It's my favorite thing.

  23. Hello, Vee! So nice to see a post from you pop up in my reader this morning. Fall color is slower here, and never as vibrant as in your corner. Lovely photos of what's been happening in your world.
John's smile is beautiful from start to finish.

  24. Welcome back, Vee! You were missed! I love all the red leaves!

Your home is looking beautiful, inside and outside. Love the progression of John's smile, and those soccer playing grands!

  25. I hear you about the balance! Your time away looked awesome and I hope you had some rest and feel rejuvenated with the Fall upon us. XOXO

  26. So nice to see your post today, Vee. You have been missed.
September is looking very nice in your corner and John is looking very relaxed.
I hope you are successful at finding the balance in your blogging. I will be happy for your updates whenever they may come. However, I am secretly hoping that you don't decide to close the haven door permanently.
    Wishing you a lovely October.

  27. You have had a beautiful September. The leaves are so pretty. Our trees are green and will be until around the first week of November.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Lovely fall photos...things are still quite green here in the Northwest!

  29. Hi Vee! I've sure missed you on here this past month. I understand your reason for being absent but I sure miss your wonderful posts. Ah well, I'm glad you shared for the month today. It's lovely to see that you are well and enjoying life. The photos and collages are beautiful and so colourful. Our trees are farther ahead here I think and I don't like to see the bare sticks that will appear in the next few weeks. Take care until next time. Hugs. Pam

  30. Beautiful autumn in Maine! I loved seeing your photos. So happy to have you back, even if it's a reduced blogging and visiting schedule. No one else can tell you what amount of blogging is right for you. You will figure this out for yourself. Best wishes, my friend! :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ah, and such a nice month you had! Enjoy your continued blogging break. One has to find balance in their life, and it is really too much of a burden to post constantly (though a certain someone, who shall remain anonymous, pestered me a while back to post more often). **smile** Follow your heart's direction, sweetie. Glad you are doing well. And yes, that pizza making photo would have been perfect for the September photo challenge!

  32. P.S. I just noticed the glass jar in your header's photo. We bought many of those from the same company during one of our many trips to Maine over the years! I recognized it immediately. And we just got a shipment in earlier this week from Stonewall Kitchen, one of our favorite food companies on the net.

  33. {Sing songing} Veeeeeeee!!!! Very nice to see you. BTW, The leaves here in western NY are beautiful:reds, yellows, purples so far. Blessings

  34. Hi Vee, I too have a difficult time finding a balance between blogville and life...I have so many blogs I follow, have eliminated many, but still could spend half a day here if not careful. Try juggling in being a wife, nana(who is trying to teach 4 granddaughters to sew), blogger, dog walked to Hunter, quilter and bible study attender...it is almost impossible. I hope you have attained a balance-me I'll keep trying to get by others to visit as I can.
    Hugs, Noreen

  36. Hello there! It's so nice to catch up on some of your news. I must say....I've missed you and will miss you even more after another month. But I'm glad you're taking care of yourself. I was very sorry to hear about your cousin losing his house in a fire. It's a good reminder to us to turn things off when we leave the house....even to go outside. Take care of yourself and your sweet John! Sending you both bunches of hugs, Diane

  37. I'm glad I stopped back by. My comments are not getting published again. Was hoping they had gotten that fixed by now. I said something along the lines of...lovely photos and it's good to see your post! John looks so relaxed and I can see he's enjoying the fall season. Hope you enjoy every moment of autumn, too, and stay well and safe in your cozy haven.

  48. Glad to see a post from you, Vee! You've been in my thoughts many times. I can understand how sitting too long can be painful--and unhealthy, so I hope by being offline you are feeling better!

The high country here has had full color already --fall comes early to Colorado! Our weather has been mild on the Front Range, but I'm sure we will get our first snow before long as it is still unusually rainy and wet here almost every afternoon. I love all the colors and beauty of autumn and I think as I get older I treasure it more

Happy announcement--V is retiring from work--his last day is tomorrow! YAY!!

  49. So glad to see a post from you Vee, your fall looks wonderful, I can so relate about blogging,so many changes around our place this summer! I have been in a bible study entitled "Breath", and that is exactly what I have been trying to do lately, especially with a health crisis with my mom!
I think of you so often and have wanted to e-mail you but felt like you needed some space and some time to evaluate, and pray about your blog!
    Much love,
    Sue
    P. if you get two comments just read them both, lol, as Blogger wouldn't let me see the first one.

  52. Hi darlin! Thanks for stopping by! It is soooo okay to take time off. I am wondering why we feel as though we have to constantly be posting? It's not like that at all, and I agree - better to have quality - something pretty or witty or profound or tender............than to just post for posting's sake. Nah, makes no sense.

Enjoy your time. The process of a smile is absolutely priceless. May you enjoy lots and lots and LOTS more of his sweet smiles in your time together. Hugs and blessings to you, Vee.

  54. Hi Vee, Glad to stop by and see you were here, and even if it was just for a short time.. I'd been thinking of you since my season slowed down and I was able to start blogging again and then found it troublesome to say the least. I love your photo's and it takes the pressure off to just post and say this is what it would be like. Enjoy, all there is around you, please take care, we care

  65. It's the truth that we often find what we are seeking elsewhere, right in our own back yard..or in your case, right on your street. I love your photo's. California has very little color...nothing like the east.

  67. Autumn is lovely - I bet October is even more beautiful in your neck of the woods! It is just cooling off down here! C and I hope to get back to blogging soon --we have taken quite a hiatus! We both lost our moms this summer - they were both almost 86 yrs. old! We are thinking that writing might be a good thing for us--even if just a couple of times a month. We'll see. V
