Dear Note Card Partiers,

And all those who might like to be...

After our August party, I hinted that there might be something new in the works. Before any more time gets away, I thought we should discuss it. Actually, some of us have already been discussing it behind the scenes.

~Four~

Just as a refresher, the rule has been to find four previously used photographs that would work well as a set of note cards. The photographs could even be recent additions. Some have felt that using recent additions is too repetitive in such a short time span.

This is the problem in a nutshell: some newer bloggers and some less frequent bloggers do not have a lot of material to work with; some older bloggers do not want to work with the material they have. ☺

Sooo this is what I would like you to consider:

1. Leaving things just as they are

2. Amending the rules to allow one (or more) photograph/s formerly used with whatever new photographs are needed to round out the foursome. (That four card set is very important to me because it keeps the visiting and commenting process easier for all of us.)

3. A combination of both 1 and 2 — do it any way that works for you.

Some have suggested allowing four entirely new photographs and I'm reluctant to do that because there's something important to me about looking back through the archives to find what one can find. That's where the idea sprang from in the first place.

So, if you have an opinion on this, please leave it right here in comments. I'd love to hear from you!

P.S. The new rules are up and posted on the Note Card Party page reached by clicking on the date for the party or the button for the party...both in my sidebar.

January Note Card Party

While looking through winter photos, I found one of Mt. Washington, the tallest in the White Mountain Range of New Hampshire and the tallest mountain east of the Mississippi. Then I thought that surely I had enough to make a set of note cards. On a clear day, there are places in my town where Mt. Washington can plainly be seen so it is always there, not as strong a presence as many of you who live near mountains, but strong enough to be a part of the fabric of our lives here.

In Winter (4)

You may be interested to know more about the weather conditions on top of Mt. Washington by visiting *the observatory.* The weather there is notorious, something about the way the weather patterns converge from the Gulf of Mexico, the Pacific Northwest, and the North Atlantic. Oh, yes, it can get wild!

In fact, until three years ago, Mt. Washington held the record for the highest winds ever recorded on earth at 231mph. I would not have been surprised to learn that they regained that record last week when fierce winds blew through.

Summer (1)

Early Autumn (3)

October (2)
As a point of interest, I am including a map to show where each of these photos was taken. They were all taken within a fifteen mile radius of each other.

Mt. Washington is shown in the orange triangle in New Hampshire. The red dot on that map shows general location of my photos and the four distinct dots on the map to the right show where each photo was taken. The numbers correspond to those shown in the captions. (Some photos were taken by zooming in, which accounts for the look of a closer proximity.)

Thanks for visiting. This party is welcome to anyone who has read the rules and follows them. You can find them by clicking on the button in my sidebar. I promise that they're short and sweet.

Sea Fever~June Note Card Party

Welcome to another Note Card Party! Hope that the last day of spring and the first day of summer are weather kind to you.

I've decided to share some of the Maine coast this time.

Summer 2010 - Portland
 Summer 2010 - Portland
 Summer 2011- Freeport
Summer 2011- Freeport

I found this poem in my grandmother's treasures. Fortunately, it was also available online so I didn't have to type it up.

Sea Fever
by John Masefield

I must go down to the seas again,
to the lonely sea and the sky
and all I ask is a tall ship,
and a star to steer her by;

And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song
and the white sails shaking,
And the grey mist in the sea’s face,
and a grey dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again,
for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call
that may not be denied;

And all I ask is a windy day
with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume,
and the seagulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again,
to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale's way
where the wind’s like a whetted knife

And all I ask is a merry yarn
From a laughing fellow rover,
and quiet sleep and a sweet dream
when ere the long trip’s over

Note Card Party~May

Welcome to the third Note Card Party! How quickly a month flies by (we won't depress ourselves by thinking about that). On with the festivities...

I was obviously hungry when I began thinking about this month's Note Card Party. Thinking about themes has never been a strong suit for me. If I were working on being totally theme-y~theme-y, I might have gone with four chocolate offerings. Somehow the Paska and the pizza worked their way in.

Rules Refresher:

1. Let's try not to make too many rules...
2. Search for four photographs on your own blog that would make a nice set of note cards. They must have appeared on your blog by the time you link up.
3. Write your post.
4. Link directly to your post below.
5. Visit ten or so others (at least) and comment. Knowing that new visitors are viewing and commenting is part of the fun. (Permission granted to look and not comment at blogs practicing safe commenting. All those word verifications get very tiring when trying to visit a lot of blogs.)
6. Have fun!
