A Haven for Vee

This Morning

What an intriguing scene waited just beyond my kitchen windowsill... The morning sun was striking the power lines that follow the river.  (The green you see is my little ivy plant inside.)
Yes, that is a lot of snow!

A lot of dirty snow, but look beyond that, the telephone poles, and the sign, to the light display. It was magical.

Now, after a day a week of fiddling with the blog, it's time to do some housework. Funny how I can pretend that blogging is real work. ☺

Have a relaxing and blessed weekend...

  1. Blogging is just fun to me. Not even close to the work category. However, I'm sure not into it now as much as I was for a few years there. Beautiful photos.

    1. Perhaps "work" isn't the word. Perhaps it should be "doing something useful." I don't think blogging is doing anything productive, yet I do think it is fun.

  2. Your pictures tell the whole story. As for fun vs work-----both at times. Right now I have lost my 'love' for blogging as I feel I have shared everything I know or have done. Maybe when spring and summer arrive, we both will have more to share. In the meantime, have a lovely weekend.

  3. Blogging IS work!! Those words and pictures don't just 'happen!' While it is still a labor of love - I believe it is still work. I also happen to think it is important work. In my opinion - most bloggers (at least the ones I know) have the gift of hospitality. Just as it is important to make our homes comfortable and attractive for our guests - it is also a sign of hospitality to make our blog friendly and inviting to those who visit us here. As for the writing and pictures - I think that is a of discipline of sorts. Louis Dean has his music - I have my art and writing. Plus we are constantly LEARNING, Vee!!! About others, about ourselves, about technology!
I love you and I love your blog! I have always felt it is a friendly, safe, inviting, beautiful place to drop in for a visit or get a word of encouragment for the day. The 'work' you are doing is useful, productive and worthwhile. I, for one, know you have blessed and enriched my life! AND - just look outside your window! Too cold to go out and play!!!

  4. Happy Saturday Vee,

Your photos are so wonder filled. God's beauty in nature 'one of the many gifts' and when we 'share' whether in blogging, conversation...we're given the opportunity to pass on the inspiration.I know it can be very challenging and time consuming. My blogspots (sharing) have been one of the keys bringing 'joy' back into my life and your 'yes' magical photos make my heart smile this morning. Thank you.

Adding a link of my Lenten Journey gratitude lists below. It's been so good for me to reflect on the many blessings from Our Awesome God.

Wishes for your favorite kind of weekend too.

  7. Truly beautiful and dreamy pictures Vee! Please keep you your good "work" - you are so good at it and I love reading your posts. Have a wonderful productive weekend! I'm hoping to bake some Paska today - I've adopted this Easter Bread into my own family tradition.

  8. What beautiful, intriguing photos! (but did you really have to show us the snow? Huh?????) ;-)

  9. It looks magical, Vee! No sun here today so far - just lots of clouds. But I don't mind the rain. It will wash all this white (or brown) stuff away! xoxo

  10. You do have a lovely view. It doesn't snow here but this weekend it's rain, rain, rain! All the plants are putting on their Spring color show. Very nice. I thought I was weird taking pictures of power lines (I do). The high wires down the road on Mill Creek do look impressive and pretty in the sunshine. Plus, I appreciate the power they give us so we may live comfortably in our homes. Yeah, I know we pay for it, but I still appreciate the hard work to goes with getting all that to us.
I need to do housework too but can't get motivated. Probably just need more coffee. ~:)

  11. So pretty!

I do think that blogging is productive and useful. It's encouraging to others, it builds friendships and community, it is a place to keep track of life events. There. Your time was justified! Now onto the house! :)

We are having mild temps and rain today. I hope your snow begins to melt soon. I've read that we may be in for more snow even into April. I do have tulips coming up in the garden, though. What an interesting year in weather we are having!

    Have a great day!

  19. Vee, I think you've captured winter fairies flying amongst the trees! That is a magical looking capture.
I enjoy blogging and there is a certain amount of work to it, the biggest thing for me is dragging my photos to the desktop to resize. However, after I learned to make them smaller they load lickety-split and take up less room.

  20. Magical...is the right word! Is there green grass under all that snow? :)

Blogging is real work...and the pay is in friendships and shared ideas and encouragement rather then in dollars and cents. Thanks for your work!

  24. I often notice the sun on the power lines as I drive along. Like long golden ropes from pole to pole. We had a beautiful springy day here today but another nor'easter coming tomorrow to add a few more inches of snow. :(

  25. Cool picture.
Fiddling around with a blog sure is time consuming. I'm finally finished playing around with mine for a while.

  26. WOW! It is magical. Simple pleasures are usually the best, IMHO.

  27. Blogging is REAL work, Mrs. V. Creativity in cyberspace.

Those shots of the power lines were, indeed, magical. Glimpses of heaven in unexpected places, I'd say!

  28. Vee, yes, I love using that excuse too...the one about blogging being "work". I agree with the second Linda in your comments :) The winter wonderland you are still experiencing is beautiful!

  33. Thanks for sharing your part of the country, it is beautiful. It also reminds me that others way of life is different from mine. I would love to get back to blogging, but the money job is pulling me away too much these days. I could come clean your house! LOL

  34. I so wish I could "fool around" my blog and make it more appealing. Kelly was my IT person and I'm lost in trying to change things. I've been so busy with my job that I hardly get to blogging anymore; something I've vow to change! XOXO

  39. Your photos are lovely, Vee. I hope our winter weather is behind us. We had a thunder storm with hail just a few days ago, but this is Missouri so we're not out of the woods yet in regard to winter weather.
