Out With the Old and In With the New

Goodbye Old Blue! It was time.
Superman took out the old and Superman 2 brought in the new with help from his Super Wife (no pic).
The new set is forest green with sage. It is every bit as heavy as the old and sits on big bun feet. I'll be able to see vacuum under easily. It is much more comfortable and easy to rise from. I do have some repairs to make as my sister's cat has had her way with this set. Naughty Lily! I think the color is better for what's going on in this room so I am pleased. John did not think it was green, but it so happens that he was wearing a shirt the very same shade of green when he first saw it after church. I told him that if he sat in the chair, he'd disappear and he very nearly did.

I have shoes by every exit these days as a visitor is with us this week who needs to get out and about a few times a day.

I hope not too many times today as it is cold and rainy and we'd prefer to stay cozy.

  2. Oh that is a nice color and does look comfy. I like the texture on each piece. You are right, John did disappear. I can't see any part of him on the chair. Enjoy your visitor!

  3. Oh how pretty. It has cooled off here as well here in NY...not by much...but it is reasonable. Your visitor is quite cute, how is Fiore reacting? Blessings

  8. Very nice color for the new furniture, the room looks warm and cozy and pretty :>) It's always nice to get something pretty, but especially for living room furniture that gets used all the time, it's even better to get something more comfy! Your visitor is adorable, so cute all bundled up .

  9. I love sage green. It's such a soothing comforting color, although blue is nice too. But sometimes one needs a change and I agree that sage seems to blend with your room more. Don't lose John! Maybe he shouldn't wear that shirt anymore! I'm always happy when you post something, Vee!

Have fun supervising your wee visitor out-of-doors today!

  11. Hi Vee~

What a nice change for you, and a beautiful color to boot! You will really like the green, I had almost that same color for many years, and still miss it. It looks so comfy and soft, you will spend many hours enjoying it!

What a cute house guest, I'm sure he will keep you out and about the neighborhood!

Have fun with your new furniture - it's beautiful!

    Hugs,

  12. I agree about the color being great for that space! That corner where the chair in is perfect. Beautiful place to sit with books, a lamp, table...

    So happy for you!

  13. Hi Vee, Isn't it wonderful to get new furniture, even if it's just "new to us?" MANY of our furniture pieces are family hand-me-downs, but we love them just the same. :) They're really not making furniture like they did in our parents' and grandparents' day. I think the new chair is quite handsome -- perfect for John. :) I look forward to seeing your sofa! I know I've told you this a dozen times, but I really love your living room. The paneling is so pretty and I love the windows and the bookshelves.

Enjoy your day and your new furniture, Vee. The dog is so cute! A Pug? Reminds me of one of our son's favorite movies when he was very young, "Otis and Milo."

    Hugs,

  14. Seeing the couch being hoisted out of the house has reminded me that we're due for something new as the dog has been hard on the furniture. But, Glenn says we'll wait until he's gone before any updating is done. The little beggar did the 'digger' thing on my chair in the family room and dug right down to the stuffing. (sigh)
Hope you enjoy your change of furniture and taking out that sweet little face peeking out of the blanket.

  17. I really like the new furniture, Vee...such a great color that goes with everything for sure. It looks great in your house. I have about the same color of slipcovers on my UGLY patterned sofa and loveseat but after we get our new floors this summer, I'd very much like to get something different in there. Cute pup!

  18. Your new furniture looks good--comfortable and if it's easier to get out of, that's a bonus as we get older. It's nice you have such a cute visitor!

  19. The new furniture is very pretty. I really need to get a slipcover for my sofa as Rocky likes to scratch on it!
What a sweet little visitor. Too bad that the weather is not nice for walks. We are hot and humid here in the south today.

  20. New furniture really changes the look of a room. Your talent for cozy decorating will be well served by this set. How fun to think of disappearing into a chair when wearing the same color. Sounds like a great concept for a children's story.
You are right - Victoria Day and Memorial Day are not on the same weekends. I think they may coincide once in a blue moon, but don't quote me on that!

  21. I like the new furniture. Goes in your room very well. Our's is about that color, kinda dark beige and olive green. Easy on the eyes. Cute visitor. He could grace our sofa anytime. Have a blessed day Vee! ~:)
PS: Nice new header. The blog is lookin' good there gal.

  22. I am happy you are liking your new green (even if your hubby doesn't know it's green) sofa. You will love it, I am sure. Hope you have it all settled in and it feels like it "belongs" there already. xo Diana

  25. Now you make me want to get different furniture. See how easily influenced I am? Handyman always makes me carry the other end of whatever he's moving. You're lucky to have a sister with good taste!

  26. I love your new furniture. It's really pretty. Your visitor is kind of cute. Hope he has a good time with you.

  27. Yay, new-to-you awesome green couch - bun feet are so cute, too - that little pup is adorable all wrapped up.

Of course I laughed out loud imaging John disappearing with his green shirt on, haha. OOPS, sorry hon, didn't mean to SIT UPON YOU!

  29. I love the color green and your new couch and chair looks very comfortable, Vee. My Brooklyn couch was floral shades of green and burgundy and I loved it. In this house we chose a rust color to go with the cream/yellow wallsand light oak woodwork.

Your pup visitor is a cutie!

  30. I love your beautiful new set!!!! I also love that tall tree branch back there in the pic that looks like you hang things on. I need to see this on my iPad so I can zoom in!! I just love seeing your beautiful room! I want to walk right into it.....

  31. Wonderful!! I love how the new color looks in your space! Isn't it lovely how some new (to us) things breathe new life into a room? I think it was worth the wait! (Will you miss Old Blue even a little?) (Personally, ease in rising seems like a huge plus.)

Your visitor. Be still my heart. And be still my girls' hearts. They would bring him/her home in a heartbeat.

  32. Love it! Out with the old, in with the new. Of course that must mean changing everything in the room around. Hope your house guest is being polite.

  33. I am loving the new color. and the easier to get out of feature? well, that would be a BIG selling point for me every time. It's about time we changed things up around here too. We have had this last set in our family room for 15 years! Enjoy! (cute house guest!)

  35. What a cute face! And where is the visitor's real home?

I loved the blue, but can see that the new set seems to have a calming quality. You might find yourself drawn to this new set and taking naps more often.

  36. Hi Vee, Your visitor is a sweetheart. I love your room; it looks so cozy. Enjoy your new couch, Vee!

  37. Looks like the {NEW} will be a great place to cozy up in!! Enjoy the new color scheme you have going on, its always fun to re decorate!

  38. Your new furniture looks very smart and I like the color, too. Ease in rising is very important, at least to me. My son used to gripe...er, mention...that my new sofa just wasn't as comfy or wide as it should be. I told him I chose the sofa to fit ME and not him! lol! His sofa is one of those wide-cushioned comfy jobs that I can't get out of once I sit in it. Nice if you're young and agile, but not for old folks like me. Enjoy your new things!

  39. Who knew that the green would provide camouflage for your husband! Love your sweet guest. They are like children, but they don't talk back.

  40. Isn't it fun to get new furniture, but this is the first time I ever heard of buying it to make your husband disappear, LOL. Have him sit there when he's in a grumpy mood :)

Your new furniture looks wonderful. The chair looks like the perfect spot to land on a cold and rainy day. Most comfy and cozy with the books, lamp and afghan close at hand.

  46. I like your new furniture Vee. It looks very comfy and the colour is very nice and neutral. Your houseguest is cute wrapped in the blanket. I've been doing the same on these rainy cool days too. And the wind!! Crazy non-stop wind.
