This I Know

People who are too fat know it and we don’t need to keep being reminded. I eat too much and am too fat, but my real vice is that I am bad tempered.
 ~ Julian Fellowes

I am joining Amy for Five on Friday for the first time! I am using the format "This I Know" inspired by reading the above quote at the above source.

1. Since I am a horrible copycat, I will echo Julian Fellowes' comment. I am fat. I know it. You can shut up now. (Does this also make me bad-tempered?)

2. Winter became a little brighter when Downton Abbey returned. I'm already in high anticipation for episode 3 on Sunday evening.

3. Spoilers are no fun. It can be a challenge not to be Newsy Nancy so thank you to all who are in the know, yet play it cool and coy.

4. The minute you pull out of the donate dock at your nearest Goodwill, you will think of a way to use whatever it was that you dropped off.

5. ♪Jesus loves me, this I know. (And He loves you, too.) The Bible tells me so. ♪

A happy weekend to you!

  10. I really can relate to the 4. The minute you pull out of the donate dock at your nearest Goodwill, you will think of a way to use whatever it was that you dropped off.

I don't know how many times this has happened to me, even at my yard sales I think WHY did I sell that ????LOL

  11. How funny! And no...you could never be considered bad tempered! We are loving Downton this season but of course...sad that it will end. What will we do? Watch reruns for the rest of our lives? lol Hugs!

  12. My doctor mentioned that I've gained a few pounds. I was shocked. I hadn't noticed! Really? Sigh... Love your five.

  13. That was fun. I love Downton Abbey. Have a wonderful weekend.

  14. Hi Vee!

I really loved your list! #1, that's me...and I have been told that I can be bad tempered, especially when I comes to my weight . . . ;0) Can I just say that I love DA, I missed watching it last night, as I got caught up in the debates, but I will get back on track tonight, if I don't get waylaid!

    Have a wonderful week-end!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  15. Ha! Fab five! I've been watching a new to us series but older series staged in Scotland that has Julian Fellows as one of the main characters in it. Have you seen it? It's called Monarch of the Glen. I'm already sad that Downton Abbey is ending... Have a wonderful weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I like that Julian Fellowes. Did you ever see him in Monarch of the Glen? Around here, we still call him Kilwillie. I hope he gives us a satisfactory ending to Downton. And I hope something interesting comes in its place to take us through subsequent winters. Have a great weekend.

  17. You are always very clever! I enjoyed this!

  18. Well you aren't alone on any of those, even now I am trying to shed the cookie fat I added over Christmas. Oh, but they were good though ;)

  19. Vee, I had to laugh about the goodwill donation....that is true. I hate if someone remarks about our weight...as if we don't own a damn mirror. :):) Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  20. I just unloaded a large rubbermaid container of old dishes - nicknacks from another century - and boxed them up to donate to the hospice store in town. Am I feeling regret and guilt? Yes. But they been in the container since 2009 and I never missed them. I kept a few ornaments to pass on but I don't need them in my decor in the year 2016! I'm re-watching season 3 of DA. I think I missed a few episodes. Have a good weekend Vee.

  21. Lovely! It is inevitable that you need something when you no longer have it isn't it! Glad that you are enjoying Downton, and no, you are not bad tempered. Thank you for joining Five On Friday! Happy Weekend! xx

  22. I love Downton Abbey and am so sad that soon it will be over. But, I plan to start watching 'Mercy Street' this Sunday. Do you plan to watch it?

  23. That is too funny about the Goodwill donation dock! So glad that Jesus loves me :) I hope you can stop by:

  24. #4 is SO true! I enjoyed visiting some of the others, too. Great quote to open. I don't have a bad temper, though. This is such a fun place to visit.

  25. Number 1 - Ditto. And that's why I'm searching for a used treadmill to put in the carport. Our teeny tiny home will not accommodate anything bigger than a soda cracker.
The world is definitely brighter with Downton Abbey's return. I went ahead and put a pre-order on the Season 6 DVD. Might as well have the whole set. Also, I'm anticipating the return to "Home Fires" and "Indian Summers" on PBS. I really think "Home Fires" is a great story. So far, anyway.
After a terrific rain storm this morning, the sun is shining here. The day turned out gorgeous. Hope your day is pretty and blessed too. ~:)

  26. Ah Julian Fellows! Great quote! Great list, Vee. I want to read that article but it'll have to wait til tomorrow!

  27. I am too fat also! I am working on it but it does not seem to want to go away--lol!

My granddaughter's preschool had the children sing "Jesus Loves Me" at services one Sunday. My GD, who at 2 3/4, is the youngest in her class, decided instead of singing that she would dance. It took all we could not to laugh out loud as she went to the side of the altar and dramatically danced to the whole song while her classmates sang.

I'm glad Downton Abby is back --will miss this series so much when it concludes!

    1. Sorry to butt in your conversation but just had to say I know that was the CUTEST thing...that little tiny girl, dancing to Jesus Loves Me...don't you know that HE thought it was cute, too. xoxo

  28. Great post, Vee...and I love your pretty new header.
Re; the cake...this is one that John would like, I just know it. The icing is tricky..just a mini version of old fashioned Hershey's Fudge and it can get hard so quick..and if you stir around the sides of the pan, it turns to sugar..but when you get it right, there's not much better.

  29. I like your succinctness here (but I also like your wordy posts, so don't go all terse on me). Jesus Loves Me was my grandfather's favourite song and one he sang even though his mind was an Alzheimer's mess.
Yay for D.A. I won't spoil anything. It's on too late for me to watch again, but I just discovered that it's on PBS from 4-5 on Friday afternoons. I'll be rushing home from school from now on!

  30. Hi Vee, good to see you joining Five on Friday. I love watching Downton Abbey too, and will miss it when it finishes this season.

  31. Before I lost weight someone I know told me all the time how I needed to lose weight. It was so annoying. Didn't she think I already knew? Shaddup already!! (Maybe I'm bad-tempered, too :)

  32. High Five on your Five, Vee! Yes, Sunday evenings are something to look forward to with DA.
    Happy weekend! xo

  33. I like your Five on Friday!

I, too, am thrilled that Downton is back. Bekah and I missed last week's episode because we were holding down the fort at Kristin's house, but we hope to see the rerun on Sunday evening before the next episode plays. Spoilers? Eek! I have been avoiding Pinterest for several weeks because Bekah saw a couple of Pins that gave away some important developments! (She didn't tell...but she warned me to stay away from Pinterest!)

#5 is the best news ever!

  34. Oh #4 makes me laugh. Since I have tons stacked up right now to donate and I am trying to keep my husband's hands out of it, that one makes me laugh. No, I still haven't figured out my no comment thing yet, maybe one day when I don't have the grands around.

  35. Very nice list of things that you know

  36. I just knew you would bring the children's hymn into the post when I saw your title - humming it now...:-)
    Looking forward to DA tonight!

  37. This season of Downton is amazing. I've seen all the episodes and KNOW you will love them all too!

  39. Great "This I Knows," Vee!

I like to think that I am not fat, but horizontally challenged. But, well, if I lost weight I wouldn't be fat, but would still be short, so no excused. This is the year I lose some, my life depends on getting things in check and good order. : - )

DA has been awesome, def the highlight of the week. ♥♥♥ it!

Hugs! Stay warm - it's sooooo cold here today!

  40. Your Five made me smile! There are two corollaries to the one about the Good Will donation:
    1. The day after you've made the donation you will need it - desperately.
    2. If the thing you donated was given to you by your mother/aunt/mother-in-law, she will visit you and ask about it.
