Hi there! I am writing this post on Thursday evening around 10 pm. Not sure when it'll post. Let's find out together.
Or, in my case, it takes me all month to get nothing done.
I actually tried posting again in February. The above three were my photo offerings, which I found waiting for me in draft on a post thrillingly named "February Thoughts." Obviously, it was to be my Valentine post, but other than that, I have no idea what my thoughts in February were.
Winter is on the wane. It was long and hard. There certainly were some beautiful days, though.
Right now, I'm hearing the steady drip, drip, drip of melting snow. Guess that means it's not freezing yet even at this hour.
So I had the big birthday and these are my cards. I'm in the process of destroying most of the cards I've saved through the years. One can't take such things with her and I'm trying to make things easy on the kids. Shocking. But I will at least have a photo of these.
One of the cards held this photo of my grandson Sam who played basketball for the MidKnights. He is growing up fast.
This is a sweet book from Abby at Little Birdie Blessings. It arrived just this morning and I have very much enjoyed reviewing it. You can see Abby review it on her Instagram account if you'd like. Her account is not private so you should have no trouble seeing it. It is a special blessing to receive a tailor made book just for me.
Today, I finally made a grocery store run and a Mickey D run for lunch. There's been so much sickness that I decided to get some immune support in the form of these knock-offs of a well known brand that cost twice as much and have the same ingredients. The well-known brand used to have sorbitol as an ingredient to which I am highly allergic. The stuff makes me mighty sick mighty fast. I was pleased to learn that this does not have sorbitol and neither does the name brand these days. The Essiac Tea arrived in the mail from Amazon today. I am highly suggestible and when Mrs. T mentioned the tea on her blog the other day, I read with interest. You can read more about it there and I'll review it myself when I've had more than a cup of it. I didn't mind the taste, but that's all I can say about that.
I was just putzing along through the aisles when who should I run into...my sister. Now this is most unusual because she lives an hour east. I have not run into her while shopping in many years. I was so surprised. She had been stood up for a luncheon date and decided not to waste a trip so was doing her shopping as well. I said, "I'm free for lunch." She said, "I just had a Filet of Fish at McDonald's." So that is how I also wound up at Mickey D's. Told you that I am highly suggestible.
My sister has been sick twice since last I saw her and was sick today with a cold. I opened up my gummies and gave her one on the spot. She said,"I take one every day." I said, "One? Three is what you're supposed to be taking every day." I doubt that I'll get her straightened out. I've been trying all her life. ☺
Lastly, in honor of Pi Day, I purchased this wee little lemon pie. I couldn't eat it all. I haven't been having too many sweet things lately. Still, it was mighty tasty and I enjoyed it. Did you get your piece of pie?
What a fun day you had and I cannot wait for the report on the tea. I am always up for something to help with my health.

How wonderful to run into your sister, so nice to catch up. I have never come across the tea you have mentioned. The book was a real joy I am going to pop over using your link now. Belated Birthday wishes.
ReplyDeletePerhaps that drip, drip of the snow melting will mean that Spring won't be too far away?? One can hope. I imagine you are about ready to see it go along with the sick germs. The little book from Abby is so sweet. What a lovely surprise. I will check out her IG. How fun to run into your sister at the grocery store. May the gummies and tea be just the trick to see you both restored to good health. A little pie can't hurt either ;).
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday! No pie for me, darn!
ReplyDeleteI'll be waiting on the report of the tea! I don't take the gummies, but I have taken Vitamin C (and other vitamin/minerals) for many years, and it/they seem to do the trick for me. I hope your sister listens to you, and that Spring is right around the corner!
ReplyDeleteVee,
ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely.. and Happy Birthday. can't remember whether I wished you one earlier or not. if I did, this is a bonus one.. LOL
I take a supplement by Reliv and have been taking it for years, since menopause just about got me. I will look forward to your tea review.
Hope your snow melts soon..
Love,
Mona
I did make apple pie - Penny's (above) recipe with real maple syrup and it was as always delish! I'm doing lo-carbs and sugar for a while but had a slice on my first 'cheat day' - and it was sooooo tasty!
ReplyDeleteGreat post Vee, you always share a lot of interesting things. Hope you - and your sis - are soon feeling in better health. The long, cold winter will soon be a memory - sending you warmth and sunshine.
OOOPS, definitely happy belated Birthday dear! Here's to many more.
DeleteMary X
Well, I take supplements every day and I love a good cup of tea every day...but I want it to taste really good or else I won't drink it. I could drink 15 cups of coffee a day but know it's not that good for you so I stick with 2 to 3 cups. Hoping your sis gets to feeling better...and I was sitting here trying to decide what to blog about and now I know....my little slice of pie added into my Bits and Bobs.
ReplyDeleteStay warm and well....xoxo
Hi there Vee, I hope the big birthday was a good one for you! Those come around faster and faster, don't they? ;) You sure got some nice cards, and I can't believe how your grandson has grown. I enjoyed your February photos, especially the lace curtains. I've always loved lace curtains. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long, WET winter here, too; it sounds like most of the country has had the same. We're so looking forward to spring here and more than one day a week of sunshine.
I think you're wise to take vitamins and supplements to try and stay well. I hope you have a good weekend, dear friend!!
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
Me too on how long it takes to get things done! That's a great idea to take photos. I have saved cards for years and years. I always felt the kids would be happy when they found out how much they meant to me. Sam is very handsome. Glad you ran into your sister. Hope she feels better soon. I've been using Elderberry syrup to stay healthy. Yum on the pie!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday, dear Vee! I do hope all your remedies give you the boost you need. Your sweet Sam is a handsome grand! Growing up so fast. My Alex will be 16 next week--how can it be? Your snow is pretty, but I know you are thrilled for the melting. My daughter has a 4 foot wall of snow that keeps getting added to each week. Spring is close for us all hopefully. Take care. ♥
ReplyDeleteThe yellow encouragement book came at just the right time I see, the almost end of winter, almost end of sickness, almost end of melting snow. Love you my friend. ~ Abby
ReplyDeleteDidn't realize you had a birthday so Happy Birthday a bit late.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was at the library yesterday they were handing out mini peach pies so I took one. Gave it to Ken but I did get a bite.
Glad your snow is finally melting.
Well it didn't take too long to post but here I am two days later reading it. Such a pretty snow picture--like on a greeting card. I think you are ahead of me on the cleaning out in thinking of what the next generation will be left with. But I have gotten rid of two things that I've already regretted and looked for. Well such is life. I hope you have a good weekend and the melting trend continues.
ReplyDeleteGlad you posted! Belated Happy Birthday! That drip, drip, drip can be a most welcome sound. I hope it continues. My goodness, Sam is quite the handsome young man, isn't he? Had to laugh at you trying to straighten out your sister!
ReplyDeleteVee, enjoyed your post . Girl , i can’t imagine all that snow you get . Wow! Your grandson is one handsome young man . They grow up so quick don’t they ? Vee, this August will be 4 years now I’ve taken juicefestive . I done research on it and decided to give it a try . It’s 2 veggies and 2 fruits daily . No it’s not a cute all nor does it prevent you from getting sick . But i do believe it lessens your symptoms a lot . First time on that length of time was i so sick and that was after my birthday trip . A d i was sick !!! But if this vitamin regime helped prevent it from being worse then I’m all for it . But i also have immunity issues so trying to stay on top of that can be a chore . Vee i also take a 500 milligrams of vit c daily . I feel that despite the last episode i just had that i honestly think i wore my immune system down , that juicefestive has proven to be good for me . It’s not juiceplus which i have many friends that swear by that including my children and their children . But it was a cheaper alternative for me . I just wanted to share that with you . And yes , I’d be very interested in Hite tea . Hugs and blessings , Cindy
ReplyDeleteYes typing on phone so tons of errors . Sorry 😊
DeleteI’m late to the party! Happy Birthday!!
ReplyDeleteI love it when I run into someone I know! Unless it’s my nosy neighbor around the corner and then I hide!
Hope the tea and supplements work for you! I’m out of vitamins and such so I need to visit the pharmacy and health food store soon!
Even I am late to the party! ( It was in February. )
DeleteYou are just a love Vee...the most marvelous sense of humor ever! McDonalds and lemon pie...ain't life grand!!!! Stay well darling girl!
ReplyDeleteHappy Happy Birthday, to a very special friend, what a handsome young man, Sam is, I can hardly believe how big he is!
ReplyDeleteSisters are the only ones who can get away with being bossy, I know I have two, and spent two days with one of mine this week who lives three hours away, she certainly got a lot of advice from me, as she gave it right back. ~smile~
I am always happy when i see a post from you, you should make me happy more often.~wink~
Love from me to you.
Blessings,
Sue
Your pictures are all charming, as are you. So sorry you've been under the weather, but winter often does that to us in one way or another, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your snow pictures. Even though I don't miss the snow we left behind in Colorado, I do like to see other people's photos of it.
I like the book Abby made for you. I want to make some after my circumstances get moved and unpacked. I love memory things like that.
Take care and be well, soon!
I did get my piece of pie since the local "good" grocery store with an exceptional bakery was selling Lemon Meringue Pie for $4.99. Dear and I had a thin slice and we are having it for dessert tonight with our kids after our St. Patty Meal. Nice stretch of $4.99. I understand this year the drip drip drip of snow melting and Spring coming. How fun to bump into your sister at the store!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your posts!!
LOL. Doing nothing is very time consuming.

Oh you misunderstood...I was doing a lot of things, it’s just that nothing was finished. 🤦🏻♀️
DeleteNo pie, but I did buy a bag of powdered donuts...something I haven't done in forever. Ate the whole bag too..over the course of a week, but it was all me! We've been taking the Sambucol- elderberry pills and gummies...and the Zican elderberry when I can't find the first one. I don't know if it helps or not, but my last cold only lasted three days. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteGoodness! I've been coughing so much, and working on the baby shower that I missed that you posted! So a big birthday! I think I know which one. You're not much older than me, which makes me think of Sam! Wow, he and my Kyle are both looking like young men, rather than boys. Time flies!
ReplyDeleteKyle and Tim both love the Filet O' Fish from Micky D's.
I always enjoy your posts Vee... it is as if we are sitting chatting about life, and its lovely :) I am sipping on my homemade kombucha as I read blog posts today, and looking outside at the abundant sunshine. I am thankful for the advances spring is making in our world! Happy belated birthday to you! What a gorgeous journal Abby made for you, it is just beautiful! What a treasure! I need to go through cards people have given to me too. I just need to decide how to go about it. I thought about making a scrapbook with some of them. Decisions... lol! I hope spring is not wreaking havoc in your world, but coming in slowly but surely. Blessings to you today!
ReplyDeleteI love homemade kombucha too, Marilyn. Just finished up the last of mine. Am going to have to start over as I had a batch get moldy.
DeleteAnd yes, doesn't it seem as if we are sitting chatting about life? If you come to New Brunswick again some day, we will have to see if we can meet up with Vee in Maine. What a wonderful visit that would be!
😁
DeleteCan't see Comments on your today's now working post - Google/Blogger problems today, every time I leave a comment on a blog it posts twice!!!!
ReplyDeleteMary -
just lost my own comment...good grief!
DeleteHappy Belated Birthday, Vee! I am sorry that I missed it. I saw that journal on Abby's Instagram and immediately knew who it was intended for! So very lovely. I hope that Abby will eventually write a tutorial for those journals. I'd love to make one and have plenty of "raw materials" so to speak, but wouldn't know where to begin ...
ReplyDeleteHave a happy day! Lots of blue sky and sunshine here...
So here goes...Happy Belated Birthday to you, Happy Belated Birthday to you....Happy Belated Birthday, dear Veeeeeeee, Happy Belated Birthday to YOUUUUUU! (and many morrrrre!) ♥♥♥
