Gone to the Vlogs

So what have I been doing with myself during the past several months? Well it's not easy to explain, but I have been hanging out with some interesting people via You Tube. Yes, I've gone to the Vlogs. There are many of them and they seem to be more prolific than most bloggers these days.

One also has the choice of Instagram, but I do not like the abbreviated sense of life there. From the number of photos that some post, I get the sense that some Instagram participants don't either. So there you have it, I've jumped ship, yet again.

Did she jump ship?

Here are my absolute favorites: Kirsten and Joerg. I like them because they remind me of people in my own life.

If, in fact, I like you, (and I'm certain that I do 😊) it's because you remind me of a person in my real life. ツ  Does anyone else do this? I had duplicate people at college who reminded me of those I knew in high school. I'm probably just weird. Don't mind me.

The gist of Kirsten's channel is that she and her husband are Germans living in Great Britain. They share many things and visit many places. Well, they used to go to many places before Covid. The good thing for you is that those videos are still right there. I really enjoy them and I enjoy their calm personalities. Their beautiful walks in the English countryside are so stress-relieving and enjoyable. You can find them *here.*

Edited to Add: Just got the link straightened around to Kirsten and Joerg's. So glad because they are out for a walk today and they're featuring long boats on the canal. That reminds me of another You Tube favorite, but I can't go on this way. Anyway, hope that you enjoy it.

🎥 🎥 🎥

Sophia is a French woman who married an American and has been living in the States for several decades. Nevertheless, she has not lost her French accent and it's nice to listen to her. She is a Flybaby and so has shared many homemaking videos. She also has her own method of cleaning, which involves a jar and slips of paper with various chores. I could do that. Maybe.

Sophia tackles anything from changing out a commode to stripping a deck. I have learned a lot from her. Most recently, she taught me how to properly wash my hands.

Sophia also takes her viewers on field trips. My favorites have been Christmas day trips to NYC and her trips back to France to visit her mother who lives in Paris.

Check her channel out *here.*

🎥 🎥 🎥

Angela, aka Parisienne Farmgirl, is another amazing woman who lives in Door County, Wisconsin with her husband Joel and her six children. Another she who does it all. Further, she does the most beautiful videography of the
scenes around her home. Really stunning. Oh, and she was homeschooling before it became mandatory. I think you'll find her fun and informative; you can find her *here.*

🎥 🎥 🎥

What can I say about Stephanie? She loves life. There is lots of laughter and fun at The Chateau Diaries. She's  transparent and will tell you exactly how things work via the vlog world in *this video.*

When you see a dark cloud coming, that's not the point at which you see the silver lining. ~Stephanie

So Chateau de LaLande is beautiful in the gorgeous French countryside. Truth to tell, I have enjoyed this Vlog more since Covid because life is less frenetic at the Chateau these days. Let's just say that, when the Chateau is full of guests, it's a party. Happily for her viewers, her mother Isabelle has been stranded at the Chateau in this time of Covid. What fun she is! For a complete list of videos go *here.*

The tie that binds these particular vlogs is the creation of home. Each one is creating a home albeit very different ones. It is interesting to see how others live.

And there are more that I enjoy (I seem to especially enjoy those chateaus), but that should be enough for now. Besides, I'm sure that many of you have gone to the Vlogs, too. If so, please share your favorite. If you have watched any of these, please let me know and let me know what you think. I'd love that.

  2. Nope, didn't know such a thing existed, smiles. I suppose I ought to meander around though and take a look...no one and I mean no one wants to see my morbid obese self, I am afraid Nancy Pelosi will call me out like she did the President yesterday. Mean spirited people in the world. (yes, it bothers me)

    1. Yes, you really do have a lot of mutual interests. Decorating style is not quite the same, but still you are both interested in decor, gardening, raising children, homeschooling, essential oils, The Lord, and probably more, but not necessarily in order. Thanks for letting me know! Do you also follow "The Elliott Homestead"?

  5. Thanks, Vee. I will check those out. I like the cruise ship videos (there are many), also Self Sufficient Me (a gardener in Australia), Alaska Prepper, The World Needs More Pie and a few others. I spend WAY too much time on Youtube!

  9. So, When will I be able to read your Vlog, dear One, that would be such a treat, won't you please consider? ~wink~ I have tried everything except Vlogging, and twitter, actually I have had so little time to do much of any social media of late, each day I make plans to post, but time slips away. It is raining today, I'm inside so I'm visiting my blog friends, and was so happy to see you had posted, besides I find what others have to say is so much more interesting. ~Grin~

These families seem like wonderful people to get to know, especially since you have introduced us to them, I guess you know by now, that I trust you explicitly.

Thank you for sharing, and now off to a new adventure.
    Love from me to you,

    1. Sue, you will never find me vlogging as it requires quality equipment (that I do not have), talent for vlogging (that I do not have) and about 50 hours a week. I'd rather watch than do. I prefer the more recent videos to the older ones because the beginning ones are not as professional; the vloggers were just learning and it shows.

  10. I've followed Kirsten on Instagram and now I'll check out one of her vlog videos. Her photography is something I've enjoyed. I like your new header. Dear has gotten such good information on the vlogs he follows. Essential Craftsman is one of them. He's also learned how to get to the fan in our Camry to clean out the mess a chipmunk left in there. That same chipmunk made a nest in the glove compartment. He learned how to clean our riding lawn mower from a vlog, too. Me...I mostly listen to Q & A's by my favorite pastors. Hope the rest of your week goes well and you can have some human contact over Memorial Weekend!

    1. I learn how to do almost everything that I question on You Tube. I do know when not to attempt it, but my mechanic told me a couple of weeks ago that I was very knowledgeable. Seems I am one of the women who can tell him exactly what the problem is without mimicking noises. 😏 "Essential Craftsman"...I will check it out! I also listen to pastors, cooking vlogs, and music, but that'll be for another time.

  12. Vee, friends of my brother and SIL who live in a beautiful home in the south of France, took me to their friends who run a hotel in a French chateau - it was awesome, but a lot of hard work, and money, keeping those very old properties in good order! Stephanie is adorable and I will be 'visiting' her often I'm sure.

Stay well Vee and enjoy your 'vlogging time'.

Thanks for the recommendations!

I wish I had more time to do these things but do good to blog once again and post at times on instagram. You are right though. Seems a hit and a miss for most I even know on instagram. Seemed that when the pandemic began that more people seemed to comment on other's blogs but I've noticed even that to slow down. I will have to check out some of the folks you mentioned. Hope you are doing well dear lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

    1. Oh Vlogging is an elevated level of blogging that I am certainly not ever going to do. I substitute watching Vlogs for watching tv as I find Vlogs far more fascinating that tv watching. Yes, blogging is different than it was a few years ago. As for me, I have said everything there is to say three times over. I am as dull as dry toast.

  17. Would you believe that I didn't know what a Vlog was until today, and yet I have been watching many of them for about 18 months! I just didn't "get it" till you shared this post with us.

My blog-writing has slowed down because it was taking too much time but I have no intention of transitioning to a vlogger. I'll just watch what other people provide. Vlogs are so good to have on when I'm doing things with my hands, and especially nowadays when TV has so little of value to watch.

    Thanks for educating me today!!

  23. Vlogs are rather new to me, but I've found a few I like. I don't like those who witter on and on before finally getting to the point, or to no point at all. I like a couple of fashion vloggers - Audrey Coyne is one. I like Downshiftology for her food prep ideas, although I'm not vegetarian or celiac, but I get ideas from her. Rarely I watch Parisienne Farmgirl and Sew Sweet Violet, but my goodness they go on and on. I quickly lose patience, and only watch if I'm doing something else like a tedious chopping job in the kitchen, or some handsewing. I like Sarah Richardson for decor. Will check out some of your suggestions.

    1. ☺️ Yes, Vlogs are much easier to take along as I do my chores. Thank you for the mention of new to me Vloggers . I would not be interested in the fashion Vloggers...way so, nor for any specific diet Vlog, but Sew Sweet Violet sounds intriguing. My daughter feels the same as you..."those people are boring! They talk too much." Ha! She doesn't know that that's exactly why I like them. I have been terribly lonely.

  24. Hi Vee!

I have been doing the same thing!! I have really enjoyed the YouTube channels I have been watching, I think it's because they are a little more interactive than blogging. Because we have decided to garden this year, I have been watching a lot of gardening, homesteading and cooking vlogs...I love them! I have even toyed with the idea of doing a vlog of my own, the problem is...I'm boring! But it sure fun to see how other keep themselves occupied!

I'm looking forward to checking out the vlogs that you suggested, it's always fun to find a new friend!

Take care, stay safe and healthy!

  28. Vee, thanks so much for your comment on our the post about our first date anniversary celebration. I really enjoy and appreciate all comments and wanted to do a personal thanks. That said, I've reading your replies to those who comment on your posts.

Thanks for sharing your favorite vlogs. I admit to not having seen any, and plan to check out your suggestions here. I've watched countless YouTube videos, lots of cooking tutorials, abandoned places, history are among my favorites and maybe some were vlogs. We're on the same track about TV as there's no watching in this household either, but streaming and watching old movies. And, of course, looking at online videos.

I do enjoy blogging and reading blogs, which is the extent of my social media connection (no FB, Instagram, Twitter for me). If it's OK with you, I would like to add your blog to my sidebar. It's how I return to blogs I enjoy reading (easier too) and also some other folks might enjoy stopping in for a visit.

  29. As usual, I am the last one to join the party! I follow no vlogs. Is there a distinction in a vlog and a YouTube channel? I am revealing just how little I know! (Now that I am pondering this . . . maybe I do follow a vlog. We started watching "Tiny Notes from Home" on YouTube after stumbling on their YouTube channel while searching for a hymn.)

I have such a short attention span these days, Instagram suits me just fine. I hardly even watch TV, even though Ron and Bekah watch movies or old TV shows nearly every night. All that said, I may give your vlog recommendations a try! They do sound interesting!

  31. These sound very interesting and I will certainly check them out. I watch quite a few youtubers who post about watercolor painting and also food...I like Eric Surf 6 /Eric Eats. He is an American living in Japan for a long time and goes to different restaurants all the time. I also follow LiZiqi and another Chinese vloger from Yunnan. I used to watch Ina Garten and Mary Berry and Jacques Pepin, and still do from time to time....Monty Don, the British gardener is someone else who has great programs. But I am not quite sure that any of them are "vlogers" per se.

    1. Yes, I am not exactly sure what the true distinction is, but I think of it this way: Vloggers are bloggers who video their entries rather than write them down. The others, all wonderful, are more DIYers whose goal is to show how a thing is done. Then there are some who are a combination of both. I adore Monty Don!

Absolutely an amazing story, and it was on PBS. I tried HBO to watch My Brilliant Friend, it's Italian, and sometimes too violent for me, but the cinematography and setting are beautiful. VLogs, I subscribe to a few, but I only watch one, a makeup artist that lives in Paris. It was nice to have some diversions. xoox Su
