Mother's Day Weekend

There is really nothing quite so sweet as tiny little baby feet.

My Mother's Day Flowers...much too cold to be outside...

This will be a picture heavy post with few words. A few weeks ago, nearly three, my niece gave birth to her second child, a little girl. As you may remember, this child would be the first baby girl in the family in thirty-five years.

She had a big brother waiting at home.

He really loves her...

most of the time. ツ

Maternal grandmother, my sister, holding her new grandbaby

What a face...

Obviously, I am now so old that I don't care what I look like and how I present myself here. (I think that brother must have been up to something. Ha!)

On Saturday, I had a wonderful surprise. My sister, brother-in-law, niece, little great-nephew (new big brother), and new baby great-niece arrived for a visit. We had lunch together and spent a few hours soaking up the new baby. She hardly made a peep.

On Sunday, my son and grands arrived. We had lunch together and then they went outside and did yard work for two hours. Six hours of yard work...woot!

It was a wonderful Mother's Day Weekend... I sure do love my peeps.

P.S. Meant to thank those who commented on last post and left such comforting messages regarding Judy. I am most appreciative.

  1. Hi Vee,

Oh what a sweet baby girl!! I hope she gets your niece's pretty red hair and freckles. :) The new baby's brother looks like such a sweetheart -- and he sure does have long eyelashes. :D A nice family.

I think you look just fine, and your hair is growing back! It's great that you got to see your grands yesterday, and wonderful of them to do yard work for you! I got to spend the afternoon with my mom, sister, and niece yesterday -- such a nice time. We are very blessed to be mothers, and I love my peeps too.

I hope you have a great week, Vee!

  2. What a lovely Mother's Day! I'm using a different browser and it looks like I can finally comment on your blog!
That baby is so sweet. We celebrated my sister's and Eric's girlfriend's birthdays on Saturday and then all 10 of us went to visit mom outside her window at the nursing home again. She just loves that! It was a great Mother's Day weekend.

  3. Vee, sweetie, you look fabulous and I sincerely mean it. Sending you lots hugs and lots of love too!!!

P.S. I haven't seen my mom in like 8 yrs when they attended my sons hs graduation. Your sister in looks could pass for my mother, smiles. Something tells me though, your sister is very nice, smiles.

Happy Belated Mother's Day (and don't we just have sweet boys? We raised them right, smiles).

  4. Such a lovely Mother's Day, full of visits and practical gifts like YARDWORK! You look so comfortable and sweet with that precious baby girl. There's nothing like holding a sleeping baby.
We visited, outdoors, with our two local children and their families and enjoyed a wonderful barbecue together. The cousins were so, so happy to see each other after a two-month break and didn't want to say good-bye.
We're experiencing the opposite of you in regards to the weather - an extremely strong high pressure system with very warm temperatures. There's a change coming tomorrow, though, so I'll soak in the sunshine and warmth while I can.
    Have a wonderful week, Vee!

  5. What a precious time celebrating Mother's Day. That baby girl is so sweet and I can tell she's gonna be spoiled... I can feel it in the air. But, spoiling never hurt any baby that I can see. So spoil away.

  6. You look like Susan Branch to me! How wonderful you were able to be with family again!!! I touched my grands hair yesterday and cherished their hugs! It had been two months since I’d felt their embrace!

  9. Congratulations to the entire family on the addition of a baby GIRL. She is just as sweet as she can be. Big brother is a cutie too. How wonderful that you were able to hold that precious baby on Mother's Day. I'm sure you were also thrilled to have a visit from your son and grandsons, not to mention the manual labor. Easy to see why you love your peeps!

  10. Awwww Vee, there’s nothing like a new baby, and a baby girl at that, to warm the soul!!!! What a wonderful Mother’s Day you had with all those visits by your special loves of your life. When I saw you picture, I thought you looked like Susan Branch. In fact, I thought, what is Susan Branch doing there! I’m glad your weekend was special.

  11. I thought the same about Susan Branch. It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! Such a blessing to see the grands, and the work they and your son did in the yard was so helpful!

The family visit on Saturday ... what a blessing! The new baby is beautiful, and what a joy to have a girl in the family after so many years.

You are looking really good! I hope that you are feeling good also.

My Mother's Day was nice also -- we had supper with our local daughter and son-in-law and family, and I got several calls prior to that. A really nice day.

  14. How wonderful that you could be together with your loved ones. That wee baby girl is as sweet as can be and you even got to snuggle her!! I think you look great and I hope you are feeling well too. So nice of your son and grandsons to do your yard clean-up - such a big help I'm sure. We are still isolating over here but had a short outdoor visit from the car window and received a precious hand painted Mother's Day Card from a little angel! Hugs to you!

  15. Wow! The first baby girl in so many years. Amazing statistics. Congratulations. How nice that you had such good visits and not just visits but good help, too. Woohoo! Hats off to your helpers and all your visitors! My Covid hair is really something else. I might have to drive to the Westside to see my hairdresser there as I'm not sure I can trust my settle for gal here to fix me!

  16. How special is that? It was a high time a wee lassie joined your family! Congratulations to all! How nice of them to come and introduce her to you...and allow you some cuddles! Sweet pic's all around! It sounds like you had the best Mother's Day weekend...with real live people showing up on your doorstep, bearing gifts and spending time doing yardwork. I gather the restrictions are loosening up over there. We are going to have a little more freedom after the long weekend. As for hair...anything goes these days! Since mine hasn't been cut in several months, I'm thinking I might just let it all grow out for a bit. Hope you get your warm weather soon. We broke heat records this past weekend...it was over 90F yesterday. It was great, actually! Take care of yourself. Hugs, Judy

  19. . . . . . .love your comment about everyone but the sweet baby needing a haircut!!! Yesterday I chatted with my hairdresser and she said how eventually, when back to work, she'll be mixing double doses of color for all our inches of roots, haha!!!

Glad you had such a lovely day with your family Vee. You look fabulous and I hope so much you feel much better these days. Love your apron - I'm an 'apron gal' too - can't have too many!
Hey, these days aprons and hats are my go to accessories!!!!!!

  25. Hi Vee, I stopped in for a visit from Linda's Life Journal blog and it was great to see these photos of your newest family member and other family as well. Looks like you all had a nice visit, and a work one as well. She is a sweet baby and her big brother is a good looking young man who does look protective of his sister. Belated Happy Mother's Day wishes to you.

Glad you had a wonderful mother's day. Things sure have been weird lately, huh?

  37. Hello dear Lady, the photos are precious, congratulations to the family! I think it is about time your family had a sweet sugar and spice addition! Looks like it was indeed a great Mother's Day!
So sorry for the loss of your Sister-in-law,this pandemic has caused so much distress on so many, especially with loved ones in nursing facilities.
John looks like Johnny Cash in the first photo.! I have only one brother he is also a dear friend!.
    Miss visiting in blogland.
You once wrote that the longer we are absent from blogging the easier it is to stay away. I have found this to be so true, but I think of you so often.

  38. Happy Mother's day, Vee! Your new baby grand niece is beautiful! God bless her and give her a long and happy life.

My family visited me on Mother's day but we all sat outside and wore masks because my kids have not been in quarantine. My daughter-in-law's best friend here lost her husband--he was only 42! He had a massive brain bleed. They drove her to the emergency room the day he died as the ambulance would not take her, so they will now have to wait 14 days before they can be sure they did not catch the virus. We are so sad for this young widow who was left with two very young children. I did not blog last week, so I missed your prior post and will go read it now.

  39. It is May 19th as I comment on this post. It somehow got buried in all the other Mother's Day communications I got that weekend but I's responding now!!!

WHAT A PRECIOUS LITTLE GREAT NIECE you have! She is a little dolly and you look wonderful holding her. Truly a special time. I'm glad you are to the place where you can host and enjoy company now, and especially for such memorable times as the birth of the first little girl in FOREVER!!!.
