This first photo is an experiment. I am trying to figure out how to have a photo actually show up in the blog profiles. I have grown weary of bl👀👀ger deciding how my blog shows up. I am willing to bend to their standards if I only knew what they were.
Let us move on to more pleasant things asap.
[Edited to Add: The experiment proved that hoping a small picture would show in blog profiles is not the answer. ]
Photo taken by my daughter in her corner. This is her friend's home; Laurel is on cat duty this week. That's Sugarloaf in the distance.
I was out a few days ago...I really needed a chauffeur as my head was on a swivel looking at the beautiful foliage. That, in itself, surprised me because we are a week past peak. I kept asking myself how it could be that it all was so glorious and that's when I realized that it was the light. The light was able to reach the deepest reaches of each tree illuminating them from within. Glorious!
Very happy to have Jake's new school picture...last year was a bust. Now I'm waiting on Sam's.
Have you been astonished by October, too? I hope that you are enjoying this exquisite time of year. Keep sharing!
Love,
Vee
We just watched the weather channel and I told hubby I was loving the Fall foliage bloggers are sharing! I love it! We'll have a little color in Dec...maybe! lol I love your photos! Looks like a bad comment above mine though. Ggggrrrrr!!!Hugs!
ReplyDeleteGone...*Poof*
DeleteSo pretty there! The one thing I will miss by moving to Florida is the fall color, but we plan on taking a trip every fall to the mountains to see them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Abundant color here too...I guess because of all the rain, LOL. I hope you have a lovely day, Vee. smiles
ReplyDeleteI have figured out the photo thing on the new blogger. I'll do a post about it. Autumn has been lovely weather here this year, and we are not at peak yet. The light this time of year is my favorite and when it shines on and through the trees, well, it's breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteThe photo thing on photo showing in the blog profiles? Oh I hope so. I have figured out photos in the post itself.
DeleteI am oohing and aahing over your beautiful photos. Wonderful to still be enjoying such beauty past peak. Here we are just barely getting started. I have been enjoying the scenery that has been popping up in blogland. Such a wonderful way to extend the season each year.
ReplyDeleteYour blog post title says it all - an astonishing October. I, too, have been struck by how golden and glorious the light is this year. We never get the coloured leaves the way you do in the east, but I am so enjoying this mostly sunny autumn we've been given, discounting the recent couple of rainy days.
ReplyDeleteYour photos capture that light beautifully!
I'm loving October and I love seeing what it looks like up in your neck of the woods. No color here yet. Some years it goes from green straight to brown. Had a 96 degree day this week (Sunday) and 80's until Friday when it will be 70. I used to visit New England every year around my birthday....I would not have believed the colors if I had not seen them with my own eyes! Nothing like that in Texas! At least where I am.....
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny Vee...I have never seen a more beautiful Autumn, than when we lived in Maine...you are so right...the colors were So vibrant, it's as if the trees were lit from within...I said exactly that..just incredible..enjoy every minute of our beautiful season!
ReplyDeleteHi Vee,
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean about Blogger!!! I'm having the same problem with a picture showing up for my profile. It used to show one, but this new blogger is full of glitches. Who knows when, or if, it will ever get straightened out. Sigh. Your fall photos are so, so pretty, and the light is magical, isn't it? The quality of the light in fall is my favorite thing -- even prettier than in spring time. It has such a soft radiance about it. I love the photo that Laurel took; her friend certainly has a nice place! I like seeing the outside of your house, Vee; the style looks very "New England" to me. :)
Thank you for your visit earlier today. I appreciate your extra work to leave comments for me -- I love to hear from you. I'm glad you're enjoying lovely autumn color in your area, things are just starting to turn here. Take care and have a great week, my friend!
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
Such beautiful pictures of Fall. Love the colors and how beautifully your words are written, "The light was able to reach the deepest reaches of each tree illuminating them from within. Glorious! Girl, that gave me the Holy Bumps to be honest! Your words are actually going to be used in a Bible Study lesson with some ladies this week as an analogy of the light of Christ. With the blog world and it changes there are times I often wonder if it's worth my once a week blogging to mess with this stuff! LOL! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteLove your photos...so happy to see some beautiful fall color! Glad it has lasted a little longer than norm. We used to go up to Maine/NH every October during Columbus Day weekend for our grandson's birthday and go to the Fryeburg Fair, which of course was cancelled this year. We usually got to see beautiful foliage while there at that time, but I know it was about ready to be past peak and we were pushing it. I hope we can come up next year at that time. We've missed it for several years now and are anxious to come again. This October has been nice so far here, even for Florida. It's been a little warm again, but change is in the air and I love this time of year. It will soon be sweater weather! Yay!! Have a blessed rest of your week.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely photos, Vee! We were away from Thursday through Saturday and got some gorgeous foliage pictures. It was perfect weather. I'll have a few of the photos on my Hodgepodge post tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean about the light. We were noticing that a lot this weekend. Glorious. I feel as if The Lord has made the skies and the fall foliage extra beautiful this year to keep pointing us to Him.
The fall colors have been exceptional this year. Beautify everywhere.

Nooo, I want the photo I select (formerly the first one) to appear in my blog profile on bloggers' sidebars. Just to make a liar out of me, it is now showing the screen cap of my Friends and Favorites page. Prior to that, it was showing just as I captured in the second photo above. I notice your blog is not showing any photos either in my Friends and Favorites page. I like those thumbnails. Don't know if I will ever figure it out.
DeleteThanks for the info, though, as I really must get that mug out of there.
Autumn is glorious around you, Vee! Our leaves are turning here and there, but we need cooler temps to really see the glorious colors you have featured. You are so right, the light makes all the difference. Love Glady Taber and her quote you featured is spot on.
ReplyDeleteI hope Sam's photo is good for you this year. My grands have those photos as well as my own children that they cringe when they see them.
Jake's was so awful last year that his parents refused to purchase it. 😁 This year he was warned to cooperate with the photographer or he'd be taken for a professional session. I don't think he fully cooperated, but it is better than last year's.
DeleteI haven't been astonished by autumn, yet. But recently I was looking at pictures on my phone and I had some glorious pictures that were taken in our neighborhood in early November last year. So I may just be impatient and not remember how long it takes for everything here to turn. We've also had a bit of a drought the second half of the summer, so I'm while I'm living in anticipation, I'm trying not to have too high of expectations. ;^)
ReplyDeleteWe just don't have that kind of lovely color here. We are still mostly green. A few fall colors here and there. At least I have fall fake flowers inside to give me that Fall Look!
ReplyDeleteWe have had the best color season in many years. All the weather conditions came together perfectly for a change. You are right, the light makes a huge difference. I was out yesterday and thought it was just the wind and rain storm that had come through that made it dismal. I'm sure that is part of it since a lot of yellow leaves fell but a large part is the light. I have to be careful driving on the road to Meijers that cuts through the forest. I don't want to drive into a tree while I am admiring its leaves!
ReplyDeleteHello Vee!
ReplyDeleteWow, your fall colors are amazing! Our colors this year are very vibrant and pretty, but the wind is blowing them off the tree as fast as they turn! I love the plates along your fence, so charming!
Blogger is driving me nuts, I just can't figure out some of it's new rules. I will just continue to do what I do best...scratch my head and wonder!
Hugs and Love,
Barb
Hi Vee! Your Fall colors are gorgeous. The colors here haven't really started and maybe because it's still been too hot. I'm looking forward to some cooler temperatures for sure. I hope you get this new blogger down pat. I'm still learning!
ReplyDeleteI love New England in the fall and how you share your pictures with us. While I love the green and the flowers here in Florida, virtually year 'round, I do miss the brilliant colors you get in your part of the world.
ReplyDeleteOctober is such a rich month for us and we have yet to see the best of our Autumn colors here. We finally are smoke free with blue skies which is a treat. I hope blogger gets easier to navigate in it's new form! Hard to believe we are at the middle of October already!!
ReplyDeleteColor has by no means peeked here, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying it in the least! I get excited at each tinge of color and my heart sings when the colors get more vivid. Oh, how I love fall!
ReplyDeleteThose school photos . . . they can go either way. Ron used to call them "drawer stuffer specials," but when my older two went to public school, I bought them anyway. Hope Sam's is great this year so he can update his place in the frame. :)
We are enjoying the glorious colours over here too! The leaves have turned into blossoms! Is blogger the same as blogspot? I know some of mine has changed and updated but so far no problems with the pictures? Hope you can sort it out. Your school boys sure are growing up fast ... Keep well!
ReplyDeleteBasically, yes they are the same, both owned by g😳😳gle. Blogspot is a subdomain of Blogger. Yes, I can clearly see your collage in my sidebar...your blog is one of the few. The majority don't show a thumbprint photo anymore.
DeleteThe light through the Autumn leaves always makes me think of the stained glass in cathedrals but the whole world is God's cathedral is it not? Yes, each year it fills me with astonishment and is a final should filler before winter sets in. I thank God that he provides such Beaty. Sending my love. <3
ReplyDeleteIt seems that beauty is all around us. We just need to look for it. Thank you for sharing your discoveries.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are so gorgeous! What a beautiful place to live. And I love Gladys Taber books.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures Vee. I have yet to figure Blogger out. it changed and I can hardly manuever it anymore. ughhh so I don't even try.
ReplyDeleteIt was actually cold here last night and I see a tinge of yellow in our trees.
Hope you are well..
Love, Mona
I love this time of year and we are fully past our peak in color now. I had to chuckle about Jakes school photo. One of our sons would not cooperate with the photographer his freshman year and would you believe when I ordered his package there wasn't and 8x10 to replace his 8th grade photo...awe, too bad he had to have that one hang for 2 years (I really did it by accident I was so flustered by his behavior). He was not happy with me and his brothers said he deserved it for how he behaved. Funny how siblings won't cut any slack. Needless to say his sophomore photo looked great. :)
ReplyDelete😁 I see this has been a problem for many. I think that Jake deserves a photo shoot with his grandmother! Glad your son worked his way through.
DeleteAgreed that the fall colors have been glorious, Vee. We are really enjoying them in NH and getting out as often as possible until the leaves are finally done. The birthday flowers were lovely, belated wishes to your daughter.
ReplyDeleteFall has been beautiful here this year in western ny. I have been reading some books on my front porch that you recommended and my favorites are any written by Rosamonde Pilcher. Any other authors to recommend?
