1. It's National Popcorn Day-my favorite! Are you a fan? Sweet or salty? A good or great movie you've seen recently (at home or in a theater, either one)?
2. What's something you didn't realize was going to take so much of your time as an adult?
3. Your favorite yellow something?
4. Why do you write?
5. Share a favorite memory associated with snow.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
1. Yes, I like popcorn a lot. My favorite is buttery so guess that best translates to salty.
The movie I watched recently on Netflix that I have since thought about more than a little bit is The Professor and the Madman with Mel Gibson and Sean Penn.
2. Home care or really the care of all those things for which I am responsible from the house to the car to the lawnmower. Sometimes, I can toss myself in there as well. Maintenance takes effort.
3. Yellow is my favorite color. Some yellows are nicer than others, I think. My preference is a buttery yellow over a lemon yellow. Yellow roses are delightful, lemony or buttery doesn't matter.
4. Lately I write because I am ashamed not to. I have become one of those bloggers that I used to poke requesting a new entry on their blogs. Did I ever poke you? Please forgive me.
5. Snow is king here in Maine for many months of the year. Now that I am olden, I definitely have many snow memories; however, why reinvent the wheel? Tobogganing Over Snowy Roads remains my favorite.
6. It is unwise to wish time away, still I am very pleased that we already are this far through January. Winter months are harsh and dreary and I am always looking forward to spring.
Thanks to Joyce for coming up with this week's questions. You can find Joyce and the other participants here at From This Side of the Pond.
Love,
Vee
Vee...you can always make me laugh...just a marvelous sense of humor you have....love you!
ReplyDeleteI'll join you for some of that popcorn. I can eat a whole bag though so we better make two! haha! Enjoy your day! Stay warm and cozy. Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteI love popcorn, too! Tim makes great stove top popped corn! Yum! I like it salty or sweet.
ReplyDeleteI didn't grow up with snow, but I love to watch it snowing here, in Pennsylvania, a few times a year would be fine then lets move on to spring! ha!
I've always lived in the south so snowstorms are rare. I think I would be looking for signs of spring everyday during the winter if I lived further north.
ReplyDeleteIt was so much fun to re-read your Tobogganing over Snowy Roads memory! It would be pretty hard to top that one.
ReplyDeletePopcorn ... we love it and often enjoy it for supper on a Sunday night. Sunday night popcorn was pretty much a tradition with my parents as well.
Maintenance ... yes, I hear you. Nothing (even with maintaining oneself) never seems to stay done. That's life in a fallen world, I guess.
Stay warm, Vee!
Hi Vee,
ReplyDeleteI MAY have poked you a time or two, but I'm not sorry. :) I was happy when you showed up on my blog roll this morning. We love popcorn at this house, for sure; I also love the buttery, salty variety. Movie theater popcorn is my most favorite. :D I love yellow, too, but blue is probably my favorite color. Yesterday, I was wishing I weren't afraid of broken bones because I would have loved to go sledding down our street. The perfect hill for sledding! I can certainly understand why you look hopefully for spring, Vee.
I very much enjoyed your post today, although I wouldn't say you were olden (love that word). Oh, also followed the link and the Netflix movie looks very interesting. I've already mentioned it to Hal. ;) Have a great day, my friend, and a good rest of the week!
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
I'm addicted to all things salty, but popcorn is by far my favorite.
ReplyDeleteSo, was that movie good, great, or what? It's hard to find things worthy of watching these days. Happy to see you on the linky after me today. Sorry Wordpress causes you so many problems, oye! Didn't know yellow was your favorite color.
ReplyDeleteI love salty buttery popcorn too! Stay cozy and warm!
ReplyDeleteSalt for me!!! And a lot of it! Snow is not something we get much of in Texas so I really love it! However, one year I took a long ski trip up to Winter Park, Colorado and the snow was so feel it covered the stop signs! The sidewalks were cleared but you walked between walls of snow! All at once, I had this crazy craving to see something green and realized it would be two months or more before green grass would appear up there. So I love snow but I’d probably not be good at living up where you do! Or in Finland!
ReplyDeleteNot really a fan of popcorn - hate it getting stuck in my teeth. :)
ReplyDeleteI look forward to each season but like you don't want to wish my days away!
Really like popcorn a lot, but my teeth do not, so don't indulge as often as I'd like to, Vee. Yellow is a cheerful color and goes well with my favorite of purple. Here in southern NH our snow totals have been minimal so far this year. Writing because we enjoy it is the best reason.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid to eat popcorn now that I had that attack of Diverticulitis. I'd hate to think I could never have it again...but maybe if I could just limit my intake to one small bowl full it would help. Popcorn is one of those things that is too easy to "binge on". LOL. I look forward to your posts and do wish you'd write more often. I cling to my few NH and Maine blogging friends because I do miss it's rare beauty and charm, even though I don't miss the cold or long winters so much. If I could just afford a place up there for the late spring (after mud season) through autumn and then come back here for the winter...that would be wonderful! But we are doing well to manage ONE place, let alone another. I do hope to make a trip back up there someday. Maybe if my grandson ever settles down...
ReplyDeleteI love popcorn, and am happy to have it for dinner occasionally, with some sliced apples and cheese alongside. Salty, please, although cinnamon sugar and butter are pretty tasty, too.
ReplyDeleteAfter our cold and wet/snowy November and December, January has been fairly mild. We could still have some snow and cold, but I actually spent some time in the garden today, getting quite wet and muddy.
Buttery yellow would be the one I choose, too. Wishing you days of yellow sunshine inside and out!
Popcorn for dinner (especially on Sunday nights) is a long standing tradition in my family! I use a very well seasoned pot that is strictly for popping corn. Salted with Browned Butter is our favourite. So happy to see your post "pop" up today! Thanks for the movie tip - always looking for something interesting to watch as it's a challenge to find anything worth the time. Hope you are keeping well dear Vee. Hugs ...
ReplyDeleteIt was nice reading your answers, Vee. It’s always great to find out more about you. I used to eat popcorn almost every night with some string cheese, but haven’t done that in years. I knew you loved yellow. I hope you have some sunshine-y days with all that snow. We are supposed to get another cold snap. Stay cozy!
ReplyDeleteIf I eat popcorn (which is like every 2-3 years lol), I only like it plain... no salt, no butter, no nuthin'. // I love daffodil yellow... on daffodils... and the one yellow in my colored pencils called "Daffodil." // I write because it's an outlet for me. I mean, look at the title of my blog... "Untypical Life." Yeah, says it all. LOL! Be blessed, Vee!
ReplyDeleteBill and I eat popcorn regularly while usually watching a British mystery or Perry Mason. When I think of yellow, I think of you. Time as an adult - caring for my elderly mother. Snow - definitely kids. I think one of the reasons God made snow, was for kids to play in. They love it. They play in it till they come in with bright red cheeks and frosty fingers and toes. Nice to see you blogging.
ReplyDeleteYellow is a good color to claim as your favorite and like you, I prefer a buttery yellow over other shades. But with that said, my favorite color is pink in any shade.
ReplyDeleteWe had home-popped pop corn just the other night and it was delicious along with something entertaining on TV that night. Magnum PI, I think.
Stay warm!
I enjoy yummy buttery popcorn. The kind that is probably seriously bad for me. I'm curious what it means to "poke requesting a new entry onto someone's blog" I know (or knew) what poking on FB is (or was) - I haven't done it in a long time. Is this the same thing? Obviously, you didn't do it to me. ;^)
ReplyDeleteI don't know, Becki. I don't do FB. For me, it was this: *poke*
DeleteFun read! My favorite snow memory involves "sledding" on an old car hood tied to the back of a car. The whole concept of that makes me cringe now, and my mom would have died if she had known. (She didn't know. She simply trusted that the adult who was in charge of this "sledding" event and assumed it was traditional sledding.) But it was so much fun!!
ReplyDeleteNow I am intrigued with the movie that made you think . . .
Hi Vee, I just found a comment from you on my blog. I was going through it to find something and have discovered its a good resource for when we did what. I'm trying again to comment, which I haven't been able to do for some reason. Let's see if this works. Oh do I love popcorn!
ReplyDeleteHowdy, Dotsie! So good to hear from you.
DeleteWinters make Springs so much nicer and happier! :)
ReplyDeleteI tried commenting here the other day from my phone, and was unsuccessful. Let me try again!
ReplyDeleteFavorite popcorn... Chicago Mix (sweet and salty)
Who even knew one could spend so much time 'on-line'?
Favorite yellow? Butter, of course. We are dairy farmers. LOL
Why do I write? Preserve memories (as in my blog)
Snow? Tobogganing, building snowmen and snow forts. My more recent snow memories aren't my favorite ones. They involve closed roads and shovelling sidewalks.
Random thought. Are you still able to edit your old blog posts. All my edit-icons have disappeared. Not sure what to do.
So have mine! I have this fear that blooger wants to get rid of us. If you go really back page, you can edit, but it is not convenient the way it used to be.
DeleteLove me some popcorn too Vee and salty is my favorite! I honestly like most anything with crunch. I love yellows too especially during Spring and summer. Something about the color that says "FRESHNESS" to me. Hoping you have a wonderful week. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI love popcorn! I wish I had known it was National Popcorn day. I would have found a fun way to celebrate. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings~
Vee, I enjoyed your responses to this little questionnaire for Popcorn Day! It's always a joy to come and visit. Here are my responses:
ReplyDeletePopcorn, are you a fan? Sweet or salty? I enjoy a combo of sweet/salt, but if I have to choose I'd go for buttery/salty.
A good or great movie you've seen recently. Haven't been out to any movies, but I recently watched on somewhere like Netflix "Walk Invisible: The Bronte Sisters". Really enjoyed it. A hard sad life for those girls.
What's something you didn't realize was going to take so much of your time as an adult?
LIFE! Just how much time and energy it takes to maintain everything in life (home, job, appliances, vehicle, life, self-care, relationships, meals and cleaning, etc.)
3. Your favorite yellow something? Lemons, butter, daffodils, yellow roses,
4. Why do you write? Because I love words. Because sentences are always forming in my head. Because it's my favourite way to express myself. I cannot not write.
5. Share a favorite memory associated with snow. When the snow falls gently in those dark December nights and you see the snow flitting into the lamp standards along the street. And when you walk up the next morning and everything is covered in this beautiful, unmarked white blanket. That's one of my favourites.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I am indeed a popcorn fan, preferring salty, if its free I will take either.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed all the responses, and as always I leave with a smile, giving thanks for you.
I wish I could poke you to post more, but can't, because I am guilty of needing to be poked too!
Love,
Enjoyed your thoughts as always Vee, you are always entertaining with your responses :) I love popcorn, but it doesn't love me, so I hardly ever eat it. Salt and butter though, yes please! I too have so many wonderful snowy memories, I do love the snow, but my heart is ready now for spring. I hope spring comes sooner than later for you in Maine!
ReplyDeleteLove popcorn as well, it certainly deserves a day.

Hi Vee!!! These are great tidbits. I love both sweet and salty popcorn - but as much as I adore the quick ease of microwaved popcorn, whew, the oils in it wreak havoc on my poor guts and the price is too dear. So it is old fashioned popping, and my secret is using some bacon fat grease for added flavor. My poor arteries. LOL.
ReplyDeleteYou would love the beautiful yellow roses my niece's bf gave her for Val Day yesterday. It is her favorite color too. She is a senior in college and he may be the one. He is such a sweetheart and so kind and good to her.
Thx so much for popping over - and yes you poked me and I finally came back. Had a rough one there for a while but feeling better each day. Posting is concrete evidence of that.
Sending big hugs and prayers. ♥
I can't resist a salty sweet combo. When I used to eat real cheese, my popcorn had to be a cheese and caramel mix. Now I like it drizzled with truffle oil the best.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh Veeeeeee, where are youuuuuu?! LOL! Hope you're okay. We miss you much! Sending you hugs and blessings!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are still writing, even if not as often as you used to. I LOVE popcorn, but my teeth do NOT. I still eat it--broke a tooth last week. I like it buttery and salty. I must say I love all forms of it--even the sweet/salty variety. Stickhorse V
