The color of March in my valley is brown...
~ Gladys Taber
Yes, mine, too, Gladys. Brown and ugly. Very.

It would be tempting to whine a little. Okay, I may be pouting some.
Still I have a crockpot with a pot roast simmering on the counter. Thank you, Kitty. My son and his boys are going to enjoy a delicious meal tonight. 🙏
And I have guests coming for lunch. Yippee! It's so cold today that the fake fire will be crackling.
Warmer days are coming. ツ
Love,
Vee
Soon it will all be green and beautiful again! Pot roast sounds wonderful. I haven't made that in a while. Enjoy your company!

ReplyDeleteMy environs look so much like yours. Brown, brown and more brown -- interspersed with mounds of dirt-encrusted snow. March is truly going out like a lion with very cold temps and blustery winds. My walking partner and I decided that it's far too cold and windy for us to go out.
However, the sun is shining beautifully, the sky is brilliant blue and I can hear robins singing. Hope is springing!
Sounds like you have a good day ahead! Enjoy those yummy meals and stay warm!
ReplyDeleteYour words bring up mental images of a cozy time indoors. Your dinner will be wonderful. Wish I could swing by your place to dine with you!
ReplyDeleteNothing nicer than a crock pot meal on a brown day, Vee, and it's the same in NH, but at least all the snow is gone. It's been windy as all get out the past few days and no blooms are around, yet.
ReplyDeleteHi Vee,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about all the brown; it can be depressing, can't it? We were teased earlier on (maybe February?) with warm weather, but all of March has been cold and VERY windy. In like a lion, and maybe out like a lion, too... We do have some blooms here, but's it's only 46 degrees today. I need to get outside and pull weeds, but I can't get inspired to do so. ;) A pot roast in the crockpot and crackling fire sounds blissful -- your son and grandson are very lucky. It's great to have guests to look forward to! Have a wonderful day, Vee!!
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
Our grass is green now due to lots of rain, but it's very windy. I have some flowers popping through but nothing is blooming. Pot roast sounds great! Have a very blessed day!
ReplyDeleteOh my Vee, Pot Roast wounds so perfect for your cold day. I have been dreaming of one lately myself! I see that snow in the photo and that is one thing that I think is gone here in Missouri. We are having all night and all day rain which is fine as we need it and both faucets on our house are being repaired tomorrow so I couldn't water the bulbs.
ReplyDeleteI remember those brown March days in NH and Maine when we lived there. Being a Florida girl, the LONG winters up there really began to get to me. We usually would make a trip south to see the family sometime in winter or early spring just so I could get a little bit of a "green" fix, but then we'd come back to the brown and it brought back a frown. (I'm waxing poetical today!) However, You know spring is coming and it won't be long before the little crocuses and daffodils and green grasses will be popping back up and the birds will be singing and the snow will be all melted and soon the lilacs will bloom and the apple blossoms...and God will restore the earth back to its beauty once again. Meanwhile, enjoy your "fake fire" and delicious pot roast in the crock pot and friends for lunch and kids coming over...that all sounds pretty wonderful to me, regardless of the color of the world outside. All will be cheery and sunny inside, and that's all that really matters. Enjoy those precious blessings!!!
ReplyDeleteYour brown March days, so unlike our bright green everywhere. I've been out of touch for a while, but wanted to drop by and say Hi, and I finally got to see our daughter Jill and grandson Tristan from Oregon. Posted a few pictures.
ReplyDeleteI love crockpot dinners...they are so good and easy! Enjoy your friends for lunch and dinner. Hugs.
Keep your eyes on that rhubarb. It seems to be offering the most encouragement for what's to come. By now that delicious dinner has been shared and enjoyed. Guests for lunch sounds nice too.
ReplyDeleteThat pot roast recipe of Kitty's sounded so delicious. I can just imagine the fragrance while it cooked. Lucky boys! Soon the brown will be replaced by all the lovely greens and pinks and yellows of spring. I grew up in the north of my province and by March I was heartily sick of brown and cold weather, so I sympathize with you. I hope you had a good day with your guests.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the email. I'll respond when we get back home. So nice to see a post from you.
And I love your new header with the lemon colour!
ReplyDeleteWe have nothing but brown here, too. We had 84° on Tuesday, yesterday was 53° and right now today - the last day of March - at 6am it's snowing. Bleah. Getting older I'm no longer handling the cold well. I want Spring to get here and stay! Blessings to you, Vee!
ReplyDeleteVee, you grow your own rhubarb? I am impressed! A pot roast sounds wonderful just now. Wish I could have you or Kitty over to get it started for me!
ReplyDeleteI can identify with your March until this week. Things are looking up and we can see some green and other things poking up that will show their beautiful blooms soon. Our rhubarb is poking up, too. Lovella has already harvested her first batch! Yikes. Nothing like a pot roast cooking away in a slow cooker to bring a comforting aroma in a home. Enjoy your lunch and your dinner!
ReplyDeleteYour sense of humor is so very enjoyable Vee! Stay happy!
ReplyDeleteHopefully it won’t be long before you see lots of green coming up! I’m so glad that your son and his boys enjoyed the pot roast. Comfort food always hits the spot and guests for lunch cheers the soul!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, Vee!
The thing I most look forward to in the spring is the return of color! My eyes are winter-weary from all the gray/brown. Soon!
ReplyDeletePot roast. Mmmmm . . .
I enjoy an indoor color scheme of brown, black, white, and a rusty red. But you are right, too much brown outdoors does get old.
ReplyDeleteRoast in the crock pot sounds delicious! Things are budding out in my neck of the woods and looking Spring for sure. Nice and cook in mornings but warm by afternoon. Temps are perfect for me but summer time a coming and that means HOT! LOL! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteYour rhubarb is coming up! Mine is still hibernating. Your evening with your son and grandsons sounds like the perfect way to spend a cold evening.
ReplyDeleteSpring is just around the corner - right??? It must be, because the annual swans have been marched down to the River as of yesterday - a sure sign. Pot roasts can make it bearable and always delish. I will not store away my Winter coat or boots just yet. Hugs ...
ReplyDeleteI'm sure everyone enjoyed the roast.
ReplyDeleteWe get golden brown when our temperatures go up - drying out all the formerly green grasses. But yes, spring has heard the call - and its coming.
ReplyDeleteBrown is how I've described February here for many years. While March doesn't look much better than February, at least it does hold the hope of spring right around the corner. At least in my neck of the woods. But I hear ya'. It all does start to get a little old. A week late as I post this, pot roast sounds like a wonderful idea. We're headed back into some chilly weather for at least a few days.
ReplyDeleteHi Vee, to answer your question on my post today about fonts, I use Calibri quite often and also Times Roman. I do use my printer, but have been trying to limit what's printed out because most times it is not even needed...and why waste the ink?
ReplyDeleteHow did I miss this? You make me laugh! But I totally understand that brown may not be your favorite colour right now! There is hope. The rhubarb is coming! I'm sure the pot roast dinner and the conversation around the table improved your mood.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping you are all greened up by now. Brown is not a bad color but it doesn't suit spring!
ReplyDeleteI'm so behind with my blog reading, I'm hoping that by now the weather is warmer and the first flowers of spring are making an appearance. For myself, I quite like brown but it is always better with a little pink.

Are my comments messed up like everyone else's? Yes, they are. Hmmm.
