Another Month in the Can

Seems I am very good at saying the wrong thing and offending my friends. Please pay me no mind. My opinion on some things varies from one day to the next. Is blogging work? Yes and No. Two blogging buddies said it best so I quote them...
I love your blog, Vee. But it's not your blog I'm coming to visit with, it's YOU, my friend.
Blogging is real work...and the pay is in friendships and shared ideas and encouragement rather than in dollars and cents.
~Judy
Isn't that great? I could not say it any better.

~~~
March in this corner was an extension of February January. Very cold. Very snowy. We tried to make the best of it and found ourselves unable to hit the mark. So we are truly winter-weary, Vitamin D deprived (and you know what that does to a person), and our pockets are empty from having had to fill the oil tank one too many times.☺
All the same, when I think about March 2014, I will think of John maintaining that wonderful luge for the grands and how much fun they had. Now that was infectious.
These photos have not been shared before, though they will certainly look familiar.
  1. Yes, Lorrie and Judy have hit the nail on the head. Very well said.
    I can't help but think the March Memories will live on for a very long time for your grands. What fun!
    I do hope April will usher in some warmer weather for you.
  2. I like the idea of this meme for the monthly photo journal entry it provides. Who among us is still printing pictures and putting them in an album? Heck, I have to go on FB to see our older grands.
  3. Very fun pictures, Vee. Always a joy to visit with you here. Wishing you a nice week.
  4. I totally love (and agree with) those two comments and their way of getting right to the heart of blogging in this community we have found!
    Oh, such wonderful moments you have gathered for the month of March...moments of the very best kind, for I think that Happy@Home has hit the nail on the head. These are the memory-making moments that will live on for those dear boys, perhaps all of their lives.
    Thank you for joining me for another month of Gathering the Moments! (The link is up now...I am slow to action these days...)
  6. Excellent reasons of why we blog...and soo true! Yes, your March wasn't alot different from your January and February in terms of snow, but those grands of yours will remember it always I have a feeling as wonderful times spent at their grandparents house playing and enjoying themselves. SURELY warmer weather is on it's way now...Have a good day!
  8. I love the quotes and the friendships we make on our blogs. It makes me wonder though....will I ever say anything quotable? That's a rhetorical question! heeheehee! Enjoy your day my friend! Happy blogging! Hugs, Diane
  9. I'm not sure how hot it gets in your neck of the woods in the summer but you may want to keep those great memories of this long, cold winter handy! :)
  10. The Luge was SUCH a success....Love those photos. And I feel as if I am visiting you when I read your blog, though we've never met. May your April be filled with warmer weather, sunshine, and spring flowers!
  12. Now that's a wrap. March 2014 goes down in history. Love the luge and I'm sure your grands will never forget it! Blessings on your week.
  14. This will be short and hopefully sweet, Vee, The memories being made with the grandchildren, are being placed in their hearts as well as yours and John's, memories that will last a lifetime and will go with all through the good and not so good times. How do I know, "the voice of experience speaking," ~smile~ Even this week Dh and I have had the pleasure of a grandson and son visiting, remembering times of days gone by. I so enjoy my visits here. Did I say this was going to be short?
    Enjoy your day,
    Sue
  15. Vee, Vee, Vee (sighing)--for the record, you have never offended me..I love coming here and reading your blog and seeing your pictures. You and other bloggy friends sure make smile by 'keeping it real'. Blessings
  16. Your March is one for the books. I hope that spring comes in a rush and a flutter (without flooding) and you can lift your Vitamin D starved face to the warmth of the sun. The luge has provided many hours of entertainment for your grands, and for your readers!
  17. I agree with those 2 wise comments. I visit to see what's on your mind and what's going on in your life, not to see what your blog looks like or how you've changed your header, although they are always nice! I think, often times, we bloggers make it too much like work instead just having fun with it.
    Your grands will forever remember the fun times they had this winter at your house! Making memories is so important. Even at my age, I remember the time my grandmother spent with me. Not so much what we did, as she surely didn't go sledding, but just the fact that she spent time talking with me and being interested in me. I'll never forget that.
  19. March has been a blast eh? {a blast of cold, snow and wind that is} I suppose our April weather will be like March should have been - windy, cold, rainy, flurries and the odd sunny spring like day to make us believe spring is coming. March is going out like a furious lion here as we are in day 2 of east wind and ice pellets and snow. The grands will miss the luge as the snow softens. Good memories captured by your camera.
  20. Lorrie and Judy have expressed my thoughts exactly. Hoping April will bring spring. I think March is going out like a lamb, here, but April coming in like a lion.
  21. I love your blog. It is like visiting with a dear friend. Even though we have not met in person I feel we know each other and enjoy each others company. I so enjoy reading about what you do and where you live, I have a feeling your summer shall be wonderful. The snow will end, I promise. :-)
    ReplyDelete
  22. Here March is ending like a lion, but there is sunshine today and a chance to sit out and soak up a bit of
    Vit. B. I love the colors in your snow pictures. I who like a good snow storm would be totally sick of it by now if I lived up north. A friend in PA had a major surprise snow storm yesterday. I know you will welcome spring with wide open arms.
  23. It looks like John enjoyed that luge too! We have 56 degrees and climbing here so far, so March is finally going out like a lamb, or as close to a lamb as Michigan gets. I'm enjoying the sunshine and I have already turned the calendar page to April. Things are looking up!
  24. I am delighted to see the end of March. Winter has been extremely mean this season!
  25. Ok.. how on earth could you be offensive? Crazy talk! I love you Vee and your March Memories and wishing you sunshine and crocuses soon!!
  26. What beautiful quotes from your friends! Special words can really brighten one's day and create a delightful memory. Thank you for creating such a great blog and reaching out to be our friend.
  27. When one lives with a lot of snow it is best to make the best of it, Vee. I would rather have snow than the desert heat or the humidity of the south, any day!
    We had a lot of windy weather last night but the daytime is sunny and mild. I'm looking forward to growing season so I can see what perennial flowers survived in my garden :) A few shrubs we put in last summer do not look like they survived --they are still pretty brown. It is a challenge to learn what will or won't grow here.
  28. Those sweet friends of yours are right! We come to your Haven to have a daily visit with you! And like all friends we share what is on our hearts and our friends are NOT offended. We are allowed to have different opinions on subjects! What a novel thing…. ;)
    I am tired of winter here too, Vee, and we've not had it nearly as bad as you. We did have snow and sleet again on Sunday afternoon however! Crazy. Sunshine today, so we are enjoying it while we can. April tomorrow…who knows what that will hold!?
    Don't be discouraged friend! That snow will all melt by July! Lol!
  29. Miss Vee! First of all, let me say how much I enjoy visiting your blog on a daily basis. I consider my blogging ladies my friends...I am interested in what they say, what they do, their families, what they like to cook and how they decorate their homes. It's life! I adore your new header. I feel your blog should be whatever you desire...it's your personality and a reflection of you....no one else. If it's cluttered, so be it.....enjoy the ride and your own creativity!
  30. What a great hill for sledding!
  31. Hi Vee!
    I liked what your friends said about blogging, it's so true! If blogging were work....I would NOT be blogging! I feel like it is, and should be a place where you can find others with like-interests, make new friends, learn something new, and have fun! Your blog always makes me smile!
    Snow! We got 7 inches yesterday - the most we've had all winter, thankfully, it will gone in a few days! I can't even imagine having snow as long as you folks in Maine, and the East Coast! You have done a great job documenting it, and the sledding looks like so much fun!! These are memories your grands will talk about for a lifetime!
    Hugs,
    Barb
  32. I love what Lorrie said I it's what I would have said if I thought of it. : )
    I would have enjoyed a time or two on that luge too.
  33. Lorrie and Judy said it beautifully. My mother used to say "If you come to see ME, come anytime, if you come to see my house, make an appointment."
    I truly come to see you and all the fun and delight you bring to your blog.
    Sending Hugs and smiles.
  34. Your luge looks like tremendous fun for all!
  35. How better to maintain the luge track...then it ride it! John has it all figured out. What fun...even in March!
    One would think Lorrie and I put our heads together before we commented. We think alike. :) We come your haven to visit with a friend.
    May your January weather turn to April weather real soon!
  36. Vee,
  37. Your cuppa tea looks so inviting I'd like to take a sip! and maybe since we are still in Winter wonderland..I think I'll go put the kettle on.
  38. Dear Vee, I have had to revamp a couple of thoughts about blogging myself; If you don't mind I will share them.
    Firstly I want to comment on the blogs I visit and I want them to comment on my blog (not every post) just enough to know they have stopped in. I want friends, not advertisement! I just took many blogs off my sidebar because they are not my blogging friends, I want real and community!
    Love, Roxy
  39. Aw yes - March goes out like a lamb (at least over here it is). You've handled the infamous March of 2014 very well Vee. Your grandsons will always remember this one!!!
  40. This reminds me of a saying I did in needlework......
    Make the most of what you've got...
    and the least of what you've not!
    Sounds like that is exactly what YOU do!!
  41. Happy April, Vee!
    Spring is truly right around the corner. : - )
  42. That bright little face says it all Vee - John's luge was a real hit!
    An unforgettable month at your house - the boys will have wonderful memories of March 2014!
    I agree with both Lorrie and Judy!
    I love visiting your blog Vee - I enjoy your quirky humour especially and your take on life - keep it up!
