A Wee Mystery
Do you enjoy a good mystery? I do. Personally, I best enjoy the ones that I can't figure out from the chapters or the introduction. And I also prefer a cozy kind of mystery — mostly tea and crumpets without the blood and gore. Thank you.

last Saturday around noon.
I was pushing laundry in the basement when I heard a bit of driveway noise, but dismissed it as being my neighbors. I listened for a knock and didn't hear one. (When I am in the dungeon basement, I stays in the basement. No up and down stairs any more than I must.)
The next time I opened the outside door, there on my stoop were these little gifts. Furtively, I looked right and left suspecting my neighbors again. Didn't seem likely.
For the next two days, John and I played the Whodunit game. I suspected my niece, my daughter or a local church who loves to bless our town with little gifts and has done so on more than one occasion. Who could it be?!
Finally, I received an email with the heading: Did They Blow Away?
Ah ha! It was my sister. I should have known. She says she knocked. She says her daughter didn't answer her door either. I suggested that my niece may have been in the basement pushing laundry.
Now this has given me a few ideas. Oh yes it has!
OH I just love love love unexpected kindnesses. Your sister is a sweetie! And yes, good peeps live there! SO CUTE!
ReplyDeleteBeen working a lot so have a lot of blog reading to catch up on. Hugs.
I love this!!!! It has given me some ideas too.... hmmmm! :-) Where did she get the darling hand towel? Because it really makes the gift the best ever! - Dori -
ReplyDeleteKohl's...$5.99
DeleteI love Father Brown. I'm taping the new series. Mr. Dragon loved peeps. The towel is too cute! Nice sister. :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I love surprises, though I am very hard to surprise! My family is getting much better at it! ha!
ReplyDeleteI like mysteries, and yes, I like the gentle ones, too. I'm currently reading "Steeped in Evil" by Laura Childs, one of her Tea Shop Mysteries.

I LOVE this! Both the gesture and the product! How cute! Yep, got the old brain whirling. lol Enjoy your day Vee!
ReplyDeleteHow delightful, Vee :) Surprises are always a joy. My husband surprised me this morning by telling me he took three days off of work next week so that we can go away for my birthday...what a sweetie!
ReplyDeleteHappy day to you. Hugs!
Such a sweet surprise from one of your favorite "peeps." I like mysteries, too and was happy to find Father Brown on PBS. Now I'm curious to see what idea was sparked by the surprise on the porch!
ReplyDeleteIt will be a "go, thou, and do likewise."
DeleteSurprises (and mysteries) are such fun! That little towel is just sweet!! Can't wait to see what ideas you're going to come up with! :)
ReplyDeleteWe need to watch Father Brown, glad you hear you like it. I like a good mystery, emphasis on good. And I need to go find my peeps and get them out.
ReplyDeleteNow THAT, my dear Vee, is THE NICEST kind of mystery. One that is fun to try to solve. I have never watched Father Brown. I will have to look into that show. I don't care for too much blood and gore either. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteOh that Father Brown series looks right up my alley, Vee. We've been watching Foley's War on Netflix this past week and love it. It takes place in England during the war. There are 6 seasons I believe, and we're just getting started. A little murder and mayhem and, mystery and history. Love it. Now that is a cute gift! The tea towel is adorable.
ReplyDeleteWe've been really enjoying these Father Brown mysteries! There is so little on TV that I do really enjoy. But we pay for Acorn TV and enjoy quite a lot they offer. All they have is British. I am sure our American TV could do programs just as enjoyable - if only they would....
ReplyDeleteAnd what lovely surprises! You have a wonderful sister!
What a sweet gift. I always liked to fill baskets with treats for Spring for my Dad and for my mother in law. Maybe I should do that for a neighbor this year. Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteHow fun! A surprise on the porch -- just the ticket to liven up this interminable winter!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet surprise! I'm glad you found out who left them, it's fun to guess , but then it's nice to finally know!
ReplyDeleteThe show sounds interesting. How sweet of your sister!
ReplyDeleteYes, I do like a good mystery and have watched Father Brown a few times.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice to surprise to find the gifts from your sister. : )
I like mysteries too! Glad you "solved" the peeps one. I must check out Father Brown!
ReplyDeleteI do love mysteries (good, clean ones) and I'll check into Father Brown.
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling gift from your sis.
What a sweet gift! Happy Easter, Vee.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet, Vee. Just the name "Peeps" gets me every time. I'm going to watch that mystery. I love the ones on PBS,,Happy Wednesday..Judy
ReplyDeleteOh those towels are so cute! We have been enjoying Father Brown mysteries here, too. I'm always a little surprised to re-realize G.K. Chesterton wrote the series...
ReplyDeleteSo fun to have little gifts left on the doorstep! and I may just have to look up the mystery series you are talking about too. Glad you surfaced from the basement as well!! Take care
ReplyDeleteI missed that show - another one I must catch up with later.
ReplyDeleteWhat a thoughtful sister. Where did she find white 'peeps'? I want some desperately - pink and yellow don't work for me!
Hugs - Mary
What a sweet sister you have, Vee. Love the gifts!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun mystery Vee! Your sister is very thoughtful. Father Brown .... I must check into this series (we don't get PBS out here in the boonies but sometime's the series show up on Netflix or the DVDs can be purchased).
ReplyDeleteYou made me giggle at your reluctance of going up and down the stairs while "pushing" laundry.
We must check out Father Brown. The sweet gifts from your sister made me smile. I'm not a marshmallow peeps fan, but my Mama loved them--stale ones--she'd open the package and let them dry out for a few days and then eat them. I know--weird. ♥
ReplyDeleteGlad to know that your mystery was solved in the sweetest of ways!! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious sister..but the mystery had to be fun also! My DIL loves peeps.
ReplyDeleteoh I love Father Brown as well!!!! It is the best in my opinion! :)
ReplyDeleteI'll have to tune in to Father Brown! That towel is adorable, and who doesn't like Peeps? My UPS and Fed Ex deliverers always ring the bell and then leave the package at my front door -- they never waitfor me to open the door!
ReplyDeleteFather Brown!!! I will be sure to tune in to that!! Perhaps I can catch up on any episodes I have missed. I am SO looking for some programs that don't violate my senses!!!
ReplyDeleteSweet sisters are such blessings! Glad you have one!!
Wow..my kind of mystery too! How sweet! Sister are wonderful beings!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that kind of mystery...the one you solved! As for the wee peeps in my pantry...there is no mystery there. They will be appearing in little nests next week...sitting on their Hershey eggs.
ReplyDeleteI must check out Mr. Brown. I need a mystery.
Wonderful! You will love Father Brown! xx
ReplyDeleteYes! I already do!
DeleteThis mystery sounds so much of things my mother loved....will have to check this out! The peeps are precious!!! How sweet!!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to check out Father Brown! That towel is adorable! I still buy peeps for my grown adult children because they love them.

What a fun gift and a sweet surprise! Then the novelty of wondering. Those gifts are ever so fun.
ReplyDeleteHey Vee,
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by to tell you thank you for the book recommendation.. I just finished it and I loved it..Revenge of the Middle Aged Woman...
I have another of her books now and will see if I like it too....
thanks again..
Love,
Mona
That towel is so cute and very familiar looking. I was at Kohl's just yesterday and I was browsing around in the housewares department. I went in looking for shirts for BG, but somehow ended up there. lol! Oh, I did get him some shirts but I have to say I spent way more time daydreaming about dishes, pillows, towels and the gazillion other goodies I would have loved to put in my cart.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I was here reading yesterday evening but a kitty crawled into my lap preventing me from typing on the laptop, so I'm back again. I say this because some folks check their stats and wonder why I visit so often or so long, I'm sure. That's why! I'm an ole softie that just can't dump them on the floor, so I wait or come back. Whew, you really didn't want to know all that, did you? ha!
Oh how sweet! The little cool peeps hand towel is precious!! Isn't it fun to receive a surprise like that? And I wil have to check out that PBS mystery on Sunday night...thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteGlad to know the mystery was solved. What an adorable idea your sister had. I'm heading to Kohl's tomorrow to see if I can duplicate the idea. I know just who I want to send it to.
ReplyDeleteAs for Father Brown, I read about it on so many blogs and now I need to check it out for myself.
Thank you for the suggestion Vee. I will be checking our PBS channel to see if it can be sen on Sunday nights here. How nice of your sister to surprise you before Easter. I know you enjoy decorating your home for the seasons so hope you have fun!
ReplyDeleteLOVE that idea!! I have little gifts purchased for my neighbor kids but who would have thunk of the grown ups??? Your sister, that's who! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on the upcoming PBS show. We'll tune in to see how it works for us.
ReplyDeleteI love the peeps mystery. Oh such fun people can bestow with the simplest tokens of cheer.
