A Haven for Vee

Happy Spring!

No matter what changes take place in the world, or in me, nothing ever seems to disturb the face of spring.
~E.B.White

Surprise! I even surprised myself. The First Day of Spring deserves some special recognition after a long winter.

My little chalk board drawing message has been up for some time. I have certainly been eager for better days knowing full well that life goes on and that there can be challenging days in any season.

The above pictures are of the less than stellar joys of the day outside, though the temps in the 40°s are good. The car is parked outside because the garage door is stuck in ice. I will wait for more melting before I dare to put it back in the garage. Shouldn't take much longer. Once things settle a bit more, I'll be manning the leaf blower to get the dirt swept from my drive. I had my driveway professionally sanded three times this past winter, which is unheard of.

The Christmas arrangement returned to me from my sister-in-law who generously allowed me to tip firs in early December. These tips are still doing well so I am keeping them for a bit longer.

Let's go inside where things are looking brighter.

My daughter has started me on a bunny collection I think. The blue one is the first she gave me and the pink one arrived for my birthday. Jemima Puddle-Duck also arrived  for my birthday. She is very cute and pert. Have you ever visited Martha Ellen's post about Beatrix Potter? So much fun to ride along with her and her husband as they tour England. You can find more tours on her blog The Joy of Home with Martha Ellen.

Oh I have been loving visiting BJ at Sweet Nothings these days as her posts are so bright and cheery and she posts such pretty pictures. I have been teasing her that she can make anything look fabulous. Well, if you don't visit her, go ahead and take a look around. Of course, she'll make you hungry! These cupcake liners are a gift from BJ years ago. I used to keep them in an apothecary jar, but I took the jar to Goodwill this winter. Just tired of trying to make it be cute and it was so large.

I am still enjoying twinkle lights even if they are on the pussy willows. ☺

No posies in the house, but this little windmill from my son and family sitting in the ivy is my little flower just now and it is enough.

Have a blessed spring, my Friend!

  3. Vee, Spring certainly is coming your way. I imagine your driveway will be melting in the 40 degree temperatures along with bright sunshine. I really like the lovely Friendly Village pieces you have displayed. The pretty figurines are so sweet. I really like the sweet little birdie. Beatrix Potter's Jemima Puddle-Duck is darling as well. Thank you for the shout out, my friend. That's so very kind of you. Your darling chalkboard holds my sentiment--Hurry Spring!

  6. Happy Spring to you, Vee. Your little chalkboard sign is so sweet. Hopefully it won't be much longer until you are able to return the car to the garage. I enjoyed peeking around in and outside your haven today. Love your bunny collection and the daffodil/egg vignette. Those pretty spring colors are such a welcome sight at this time of year. Also love your cupcake liners in the Mason jar. So colorful and cute. I'm off to check out those blogs now.

  7. Spring comes slowly up in your neck of the woods! You have lots of pretty things to look at inside your cozy home. And I got to see one of my favorite things in this post! The framed stamped envelope back there behind the daffodils! I’ve always loved that and the way it looks! Happy Spring, Vee!

  8. Happy Spring to you dear Vee. I love your chalkboard Spring sign. bj always makes me hungry. It was fun to pull out my Easter/Spring décor this week. I probably said this last year but I should pull out my cute cupcake liners and display them. If you make cupcakes in them you lose the cuteness. Maybe I should make cupcakes in white liners and then slip them into the pretty ones when they are bakes already. Hmmm... Hope that garage door is unstuck soon. Today Dear is out with a big spikey thing chopping up the ice layer here and there so the melted snow has somewhere to go instead of backing up in a puddle. New things to learn living in this part of Washington. Hope the rest of your week is good plus a nice weekend ahead! I'm going to pop over to the Beatrix Potter post now...

  9. Enjoyed your spring tour, Vee, So pretty and refreshing. I too am into bunnies this year, so much so that I am thinking, "Way to manny." I do enjoy Martha Ellen"s beautiful tours.
We had spring weather for a few days, now it is cold again, and raining, oh well, it is spring. I guess I can now say that since it is official.

  11. Loving these spring-like photos and hoping that the snow and ice disappear quickly. We are still away from home and enjoying sunny and unseasonably warm days that have me peeling off layers and lifting my face to the sun.

  13. Everything is so pretty, Vee. Twinkle lights on pussy willows ... a lovely idea. I'm just about to tuck some faux forsythia into my front-door wreath and add a "Spring will come!" message to the chalkboard.

  16. Such a happy day to find a pretty Spring post from you! I think everyone has had a long winter this year. But now my snowdrops are blooming and I'm going to go check on the crocuses in the front yard a bit later. I'm a huge Beatrix Potter fan and was lucky enough to visit Hilltop in the summer of 2010 with three of my D.E. Stevenson fans. treasured memories.
I'm wishing you a glorious spring and sunny happy days.
