A Darling Kitchen
Have you created a Houzz folder of your own? I did about a year ago and now it is filled with sweet images like this one. They provide a comment box, which can be kept private, for answering this question: What do you like about this room?
My answer was this: The sink reminds me of my grandmother's. The room is bright and cheerful. There's bread, butter, and jam on the counter — always a good sign. It's clean. (I think it has something to do with sun at the windows, too.)
Clean is always good. I'm giving up on the upstairs for a while so I can concentrate on the first floor again. So many things need cleaning, including the garage, the car, the basement, the attic. Okay, this is as depressing as the rain. (It feels as if it's been raining forever. ETA: Sunshine this morning, though, before more rain returns this afternoon.)
So what do I need? A cheery tablecloth, preferably gingham, a lot of white (can't happen), flowers on the windowsill, a kettle on the stove, and a snack on the counter. Okay. It's doable! I'm off.

Oh but.... Lotta'-white could happen. (evil grin) Convince resident carpenter to paint only kitchen walls WHITE!!!!
ReplyDeleteRunning, ducking and hiding..........
It is a very pretty kitchen!
ReplyDeleteOur entire house is ready for an overhaul. Not sure what we are going to do in the kitchen yet. I'll have to pay very close attention to the ideas you share here.
And speaking of White... I recently found a blog, to satisfy all my frustrated white-longings. It is called White Behemian Beauty. She is going all white. And she takes your breath away.
ReplyDeleteI can go there and just sigh, and dream and sigh some more.
:-)
I know what you mean. The entire house needs cleaning. So, I started on the one Fly Lady tip I remember - do just 15 minutes, then stop and have a break or move to another place. If I know it is just 15 minutes, I speed up a great deal!
ReplyDeleteI love that picture. I want sparkly white. But I just know the dirt would be worse than ever against a white backdrop! Houzz folder? I am off to investigate....
The rain. We have it now. Howling winds. Dreadful. Please tell me the summer is on its way, because we seem to get your weather a week later and I am sick to death of jumpers and fleeces!!
White........only in my dreams can I have an all white anything! xo
ReplyDeleteI love that sink. Years ago (30) we bought an old house in upstate NY. It had all metal cabinets and that sink. We took it all out to put in oak cabinets. What were we thinking?
ReplyDeleteYes, I have Houzz...it is filled with ideas.
yup sounds just right,
ReplyDeleteLove the all-white look here, and the farmhouse sink...but it's the green gingham tablecloth that seals the deal! There's nothing like gingham for a crisp, fresh look!
ReplyDeleteHave fun freshening your space today! :)
The kitchen you shared is darling. I love the sink -- wish I had one! There's always something else to do. The list doesn't seem to get shorter!
ReplyDeleteI love the fresh clean feeling. As if the room had just been cleaned and the curtains and tablecloth washed and ironed. Love the flowers and bowl of fruit on the table. Don't like the absence of counter space on which to work. One might turn back the tablecloth and work on the table, but I think it really needs more work space....Love the idea of making such a folder.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's doable! I love this kitchen. I'd take it over a big fancy one any day. I'm starting to get overwhelmed with the house cleaning too as my sis-in-law is coming next week for a couple of days then it will be time to prepare for the family's arrival on July 5. I'm so not ready! I'll do it. But, it will be the day before I bet! Cloudy and cool here still. Where oh where is the sun???
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I love almost everything about this kitchen. The white, the fresh clean look, the little table and chairs in the kitchen, the tablecloth, the crisp curtains with the sun shinning in. Oh, and did I mention all the white? lol Love it! Enjoy your day Vee!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Clean, yes, and bright and cheery! Love the sink! And the open shelves!
ReplyDeleteI've never been on Houzz. Oh, I can tell I'll be spending a lot of time there....

This is a very sweet kitchen! All it needs is my little babushka sitting there and it would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteYes, Vee you are right..it is doable....you make a lot of people smile when you write..thank you...
ReplyDeleteLove, Mona
That is a great kitchen, I love it.Everything to make you cheerfull and happy.
ReplyDeleteSweet kitchen picture. Sometimes just the addition of fresh flowers can help spruce up the room!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet kitchen! I did create a Houzz and did not keep up with it! Guess I need to revamp! LOL! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteVee,
ReplyDeleteThat is my dream sink. If I had considered it (or thought of it) at the time we did our kitchen, that's what I would have!
Bright and cheery...always good! And how can one go wrong with fresh bread and jam? :)
ReplyDeleteHope your rain moves on...soon. It's cloudy here today...threatening to drizzle. We are working on the yard...rain or shine.
Plans are good! This reminds me of my grandma's kitchen too, although my mother would have brought the bread and jam by the time I remembered it, XOXO
ReplyDeleteMy comment on the kitchen is What's not to like. I like everything about it. That is my gramma's kitchen sink too.
ReplyDeleteI love a white kitchen. So clean, bright and makes me feel like baking!!
No I don't have a Houzz folder, but maybe I should get one.
It's an important room so it's important to have a feel good feeling about it. I like the list you got from the comments, too. I have a sky light here in Florida that makes the room so light and feel bigger. What fun to get ideas on the internet! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteLove that sink. You know, it is ok not to have all white. I got my new Romantic country....all white. I gotta have color!
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon, Vee. That is a very adorable kitchen. My grandmother's sink was just like that one and looked out on her patch of zinnias. I need to bake some banana bread before dinner tonight. That will make the house smell like a home!
ReplyDeleteTake care.
WHY is it that we MORE we DO - the MORE there IS to do??? We never seem to get ahead! We are actually redoing part of our kitchen soon. I'm not in a hurry since everything makes such a MESS! New floor, stove, sink and counters. I may sand and lightly distress my already distressed by use cabinets. Or just CLEAN them! You know, we will NEVER get everything DONE! What would we do if we did?? Be bored? It's the journey and the DOING that counts! Blackberry Lane is baking banana bread - I opted for brownies.
ReplyDeleteI love this! For much of the same reasons, Gingham says so much including cozy. I started out our married life with a lot of gingham and have always loved it. I see the aqua pops too. Its obviously a new kitchen but made to look quaint and old fashioned, Thanks for sharing and giving me a little treat today!
ReplyDeleteLove this kitchen. Probably wouldn't have open shelves but rather glassed front cabinets. I'm sure however you do it vee, it will be wonderful. ~ Abby
ReplyDeleteOh my, this is DARLING for sure! I love it. It's so bright and cheerful looking, and yes, CLEAN.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a tablecloth girl. I should probably change my ways. It's such a nice look. So many things land on our kitchen table during an average day, though. It would just mess up a pretty tablecloth..
White always looks clean to me but so much work.
ReplyDeletemerle......
Even a few touches - like the gingham cloth and the snack on the cupboard will make a fresh look in your kitchen. I'm ready to clean, clean, clean, here, too. My cupboards are white and they need some serious scrubbing.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE white kitchens, and that is one gorgeous space :)
ReplyDeleteNice kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI could definitely live with it.
Thanks for sharing this lovely peaceful kitchen! I would love to simplify to make things more calm around here.
ReplyDeleteI like all of the things that you mentioned too. But I like color and a lot of my things on display so that I can enjoy them. In other words I like clutter and stuff:)
