There, through the long, long summer hours,
The golden light should lie,
And thick young herbs and groups of flowers
Stand in their beauty by...
~from June by William Cullen Bryant
Not the best photography on such a wildly sunny day. I just liked the way the sunshine fills that one rose as if the rose were a bowl catching it.
Linking to Mary's Little Red House...
What a beautiful mosaic - I love that rose in the sunlight, beautifully photographed, and the iris are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteAh,yes. Roses and iris. Beautiful mosaic Vee. My iris have buds now so they will bloom soon. Have a lovely afternoon and week.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dear Vee, and I love the poem, which I'd never before read. Thank you! Do you mind if I use it at my talk at the Boothbay Botanic Garden in August? It is perfect.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks lovely and brightened my day.
Yes, I too would love to hear mama mallard's version of the "kidnapping."
Love,
Sharon
Lovely!
ReplyDeleteHi Vee
ReplyDeleteThe rose does look like a bowl of sunshine; you captured it on just the right angle. What is the big round white thing behind the rose?
Judith
A broken birdbath saucer that I couldn't bear to toss.
DeleteThat rose looks EXACTLY as you described!!! Beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a happy accident! Love it when the camera gives us something we didn't expect. Your mosaic is so pleasing and artful and just sings "June"!
ReplyDeleteHello Vee, your iris and the roses are both lovely. What a good idea to re-use your broken birdbath. Lovely captures and mosaic. Have a happy week ahead!
ReplyDeleteI love old fashioned irises. And the roses are all in full bloom here..it seems early this year! Stay cool! I hope you have a nice breeze!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your beautiful flowers!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. There was a light fog the morning I took the pics and the sun reflecting on the lens, along with the blue water all the pics I took on the lake that morning had a blue hue to them.
Have a great week.
That is a great collage! Isn't the beauty of Spring fabulous?
ReplyDeleteAnd here I am watching the weather channel with tornado threats to Maine. Guessing not your part of Maine?
ReplyDeleteWrong. Yes, they are for my corner as they are making a diagonal swipe across the state. The sky is black; we've discussed our escape plan. The good thing about tornadoes in Maine besides rarity is that they don't have much opportunity to get going. If we do have one, it'll be an E-1 or lower most likely.
DeleteYour description of the sunshine filling the rose like a bowl is so poetic! Enjoy your wildly sunny weather :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Vee. Love the rose, drinking in the sun.
ReplyDeleteLovely as ever Vee, thanks for sharing some of the beauty around you. ~ Abby
ReplyDeleteLovely mosaic, Vee. Love your bearded iris. I can't grow them here and I miss them from my time in New Mexico. Gorgeous rose -- very romantic. Have a lovely week.
ReplyDeletePretty mosaic. Yes, the is cool how the rose is catching the sun!
ReplyDeleteOh! Vee, this is so lovely, the iris reminds me of the ones my grandmother grew!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your evening.
Hus,
Sue
Vee,
ReplyDeleteI am smitten by the sunlight and John's arping poem.
Could he do one for every season??? Please?!
An absolutely beautiful post, Vee. Georgia is expecting storms/rain tonight. Hope you guys stay safe.
ReplyDeletePretty mosaic and quote. You asked if I had a new lens. No, I just have a good zoom on my point and shoot. I'm off now to look at the Photo Challenge I just noticed on your sidebar. Have a good evening, hope the storms bypassed you.
ReplyDeleteSuch a timely poem. Blooms fill June days with beauty. So lovely. Herbs and flowers are filling my garden. It's such a gush of beauty that comes all at once and I can hardly take it in. Love the sunlight cupped in your open rose.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful photo and a beautiful mosaic, Vee.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, Vee, you are so good at these mosaics.
ReplyDeleteWe spent time with family today and had such a good day. :)
Hope your Sunday was good.
hugs, bj
Pretty!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Vee! I don't know I think your photos look great!
ReplyDeleteLove the light-filled rose. Yes, heard about your heat wave. Yeesh. Wetter than normal here...and cold.

A bowl of light indeed! What a beautiful sight! Are these roses hot pink, or a shade of salmon?
ReplyDeleteLovely mosaic, lovely poem.
I won't see many roses growig here, Vee, so I will appreciate seeing yours! We had a beautiful weekend and NO HUMIDITY!! :)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful rose full if sunlight Vee, thank you for leaving your lovely comment on Margie's crafts, Isla will indeed be three and she will be a big sister in October. Big hugs, Margie ❤
ReplyDeleteDear Vee
ReplyDeleteFor me your photos are quite magical as they take me back to my garden in summer - rather than the gloomy state it's in now!!
If I lived closer I would be asking you very nicely if I could have a piece of your lovely iris! Sadly for me I live far too far away and the Department of Agriculture would be frowning furiously if they read this!!!
Shane ♥
Lovely! And yes, it was catching that sunshine!
ReplyDeleteI too love how the sunshine hits the roses--such a beautiful moment. Stay safe with the threat of wild weather in your area, XOXO
