A Bit of This and a Titch of That

Did you know that Easter is a mere two weeks from this coming Sunday? I didn't until I checked just before starting this post. Time to get moving!

I am currently in a no-buy zone. It has lasted about six years actually. Well, be that as it may, I like to have something "new" for Easter. Since it is not going to be a new suit of clothes, I was looking for something cute meaningful for the house. I found it on my Easter Pinterest board. The link will be provided at the end. (Can't have you scooting off before you have a chance to visit.)

Yes, you've seen this corner many times with the aprons, the photo, the bunny and even the eggs (minus the lettering).

So if you're looking for more meaning for those Easter eggs, here's the simplest little project.

1. finished project
2. PicMonkey font selection (or anywhere really) I chose "Playfair Display"
3. gathering of needed items: an elongated dish, Easter eggs, floral moss or anything suitable for nesting, pencil for first tracing of letter, Sharpie for final lettering
4. ready to assemble
5. pin cushion
6. a pin stuck in the bottom helps prevent the egg from rolling off the dish
7. & 8. close-ups
When I was at Hobby Lobby using my birthday gift card, I also purchased a strand of small white silk flowers. I wrapped it around the Easter wreath and will get it on the front door today, even if it looks totally ridiculous there with all the snow we still have—mounds and mounds of it!

I'll change this photo out once it's on the door. Being the front door, I guess I'll have to get dressed first. =/

  ~Thank you, Karen!~

My dear friend Karen at *Life is Good~Smile* sent me an unexpected gift. A beautiful scarf knitted in one of my favorite color combinations—blue and yellow.  She also sent some Chocolate Chippers cookies she mentions quite often. They were a gift for John and he did eat most of them; I was able to squirrel these two away. Hmmmmm...good! They are not the usual chocolate chip cookie recipe. They seem paler...no brown sugar? egg whites only? I am not quite sure and Karen says only that it must be her magic touch! ☺

Pardon the lack of color, Karen. I had been out shoveling snow and was as red as a beet. Ugh. And not only that those two Chocolate Chippers have made me fluffy! LOL!

A wonderful day to you and a great weekend. See you next time!

  6. A pretty scarf. I also am a fan of blue and yellow, as in my kitchen. Thanks for showing us the egg idea; it makes a good reason to dye the eggs. You've got them standing up prettily. And the wreath too…that will bring a dash of spring to your house.

  8. Hi Vee! Thanks for the inspiration to make an Easter wreath even though it's snowing and blowing out there. I need to do something for the front door. Yours is beautiful! I also like your EASTER letters on the eggs and displayed with the bunny. Very sweet. What a thoughtful gift you received. The scarf is pretty. Cute picture of you but we can't hardly see ya'!! Another stormy day here today - snowy and blustery in the wind. NS is getting hit harder though - again. Guess I'll get some crafting done this afternoon. Hugs.

  13. Wonderful scarf! Sweet and thoughtful gift!

I love the eggs too! I decorate the tables at church for our Easter morning brunch and like to find different ideas. This would be very cute!

Your wreath is so pretty and reminds me that I need to get busy and change out my wreath for the plain greenery one on the front of the house.

  14. You always know how to get me on track...and think about what lies just around the corner. It seems I'm always a little behind. I barely got my Christmas decor packed away...and now I need to think about Easter. Love your simple idea for making meaningful eggs! How nice...your hand-knit scarf! Smiling at your closing comment...re. the result of eating two chocolate chip cookies. :)

Nice to see the scarf on you even though your picture is so small. : )
You are very welcome my friend. Just happy that you liked the scarf and cookies.

David and the kids have just left with a bag of those cookies. : )

    1. Hmmmm...now I have to put my thinking cap on again. Did you enlarge the photo? I can't imagine why you're all yelping about it being so small. I am not making it as large as my usual photos for obvious reasons. ☺

To me, those cookies look like some I have made which include vanilla instant pudding powder in the ingredients. They are yummy. What a sweet gift your friend sent you.

  20. Good morning! Happy to see your picture today! Loving your wreath. The soft colors of the eggs are so pretty. Love your Pinterest project. What did we do before pinterest???

  21. I like blue and yellow together and your gifted scarf is pretty. The egg project turned out very well and your wreath reminds me that I don't have a spring one for the front door. Perhaps I should get creative too. :-)
Aren't bloggers nice to make another feel special when they send an unexpected gift in the mail!
BTW, awesome picture of you and it might not blow up to a gigantic size for obvious reasons-for which I'd do the same. I think I've figured out why my selfies are not successful - too close! LOL

  22. I love your bunny and his basket filled with very very special Easter eggs. Blue and Yellow together "rocks" (as some of the kids say). Wonderful ripple scarf. Lucky you! Mail call is fun!

  23. Fluffy...I like that. I've been fluffy for quite a while now. Even my hair will get fluffy is I exert myself in any way. Mounds and mounds of snow still, oye. I was surprised to realize how close Easter is, too. I'm wondering if I'll get around to making Paska this year or not.

  24. Two weeks! Oh, boy! Time to get out the eggs. Great project!

  25. That is a beautiful arrangement- I love it. Easter has crept up on me while I was looking for spring high and low. I have three birthdays to get through before then, and I'm cooking this year so I best get out of my dreamworld and get busy. Have a great rest of the week!

  26. That is adorable. Love the scarf too. I need to start crocheting again. Oh, and we have a Hobby Lobby now! Whilst perusing their wares the other day, I noticed that they have lots of jewelry making goodies. I think I might teach myself how to make jewelry. That might be fun too.
Hope your days are warmer and happy. ~:)

I think you found a meaningful and cute project for the Easter season. Great job with your tutorial.
I recently bit the bullet and jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon. Oh boy, that's all I need something else to keep me glued to the computer.

  34. Great project Vee and I love your header too! I giggled at your comment about having to get dressed if you were going to hang the front door wreath - do you stay in your PJs all day sometimes too? I know what you mean about being in a no-buy zone - I think I'm there too. I've been saving my onion skins to dye some Easter Eggs - it's coming up fast! You look super cute in your scarf!

  35. I love the colours in your new scarf - I hope it keeps you warm! I have read about All The Snow - and by now, it should be gone, I know. Your Spring/Easter decorations are beautiful. I absolutely love the idea of the letters on the eggs! Now I need to file this away to try....

  36. hee hee... I know what you mean about cookies making you "fluffy" - been there :) You look lovely, dear Vee, and the scarf is stunning! What great colors together - I can see why they are your favorites.

Your Easter eggs are wonderful and I'm thinking I will have to do this with my little one. I know he would enjoy writing "Jesus" and other meaningful things on some eggs.

    Enjoy your day! Hugs!

  38. I love the idea of lettering the eggs with JESUS. It makes a pretty and meaningful display. he wreath is lovely, just what you need to remind the snow it has outstayed it's welcome. I have a basket of dollar store tulips on the front door and it made the snow disappear shortly after I hung it up ;)
What a sweet happy mail gift you received, cookies and a gorgeous scarf? That must have made your day. Happy Spring:>)

  39. I love your wreath and have never thought of putting one on the door for Easter. My creative juices are running now and I'm thinking of bunnies and eggs to adorn the door. I laughed when you said about the cookies making you fluffy, I feel the same - especially after two or three :-) Have a lovely evening x

  40. Hi Vee, That's such a thoughtful gift from Karen! I love your eggs and the sweet wreath for the door, too. We are getting a new Hobby Lobby in town. I love to shop there. If you and John want a laugh, visit my current post over the next few days if you have time. My poor John!!! lol

  41. If you hang that wreath on the door maybe the snow will be intimidated and leave. I love your new scarf and you look great wearing it!

  46. I love your bunny dish and the inscribed eggs are perfect for it! I love Hobby Lobby and don't get to shop in it enough these days.

I was sick all last week with a stomach virus --the second time I've had one in a month--not fun ;( I think it is a liability of watching the grandkids so often--they pass on their germs--lol

We've had nice weather --it even reach close to 80 one day but I'm not fooled--we will still have more snow one of these days, I'm sure!
