His Name is Bill...

You may know him as Mr. Sweet.  BJ at Sweet Nothings knows him as her dear husband of nearly 57 years! BJ has called in prayer warriors and given very specific (and powerful) directions. I hope that if you don't already visit BJ you will today and most especially if you pray.

*An Update*

💕💕💕

This week I was reading my favorite blogs, what else is new? I ran into a fabulous teaching at Barbara's My Journal Reflections at The Brown Bungalow where she so cogently expressed her heart concerning what The Lord has been teaching her in a time of testing. I know that you'll be blessed. I have also added that post to Inspirational Posts in my sidebar.

💕💕💕

Lastly, as you know, I have been spending time on a weekly basis with my father who loves the old programs. I watch Bonanza episodes, Matlock episodes, Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons...on and on to include old episodes of Mayberry. That's why I was charmed and blessed by this post called Seven Things I Learned from Andy Griffith.

It's a hunker down weekend in Maine with more snow today and a new blizzard tomorrow and Monday. Enough already!

You take care...

  2. All good things, Vee. You know it's kinda funny - when my dear sweet angel of a momma was in her twilight and bed-ridden she had a tv put in her room and the ONLY thing she would watch is Little House of the Prairie. She even stopped watching the news - which was unheard of - she said she only wanted old-fashioned goodness and kindness in her head. My little sister was childless at the time (early 90s) and she would read to Mom and they did read Gone with the Wind - Mom's favorite - then after that my sister found the "sequel" about how it would have been after that famous Rhett line saying that he didn't care.......and Mom never made it to the end of that book. I think I may have told you some of this stuff, but I had forgotten about GWtW and that sequel till now. Funny how you can say something and it triggers a whole flood of memories.

Hugs. Stay warm. We got that first huge snow storm on Wednesday night - didn't even wear a coat to choir practice, came out after and there was a blizzard! I was shocked 'cuz I hadn't even looked up the weather! Last night there was snow on the ground, but today (Sat) it's all gone. : - ( Boo. I like snow! Send me yours! ♥♥♥

  4. Barbara indeed had a very powerful post, sweet Vee. Giggling over hunkering down...we are under a winter storm advisory for tomorrow into Monday --expecting 6-12 inches of the white stuff and yes, we did get quite a bit from the other day. Today is fairly warm at 43*, but looks like rain is heading in.

ANYWAYS, I visited over to BJ's Sweet Nothings. Keeping you in prayer as well.

  6. I had seen that post of BJ's and will be praying. Loved Barbara's post and am saving it. So true. And the lessons from Andy Griffith ... we have dvds of all the seasons and will often watch an episode when time allows. Those lessons are priceless.

Great post today, Vee. I am not looking forward to all this snow, but we will deal with it as it comes, right?

I just put up a sort of random post, too. Great minds must be thinking alike on this wintry day.

I know you treasure the days that you and your dad share.
    God bless. xoxo

  9. I read BJ's post and have been praying for her and her sweet Bill. Prayer is powerful connection to our loving Father who hears and understands.
Our winter storm must have blown across the continent. Weak sun shines today and the snow is disappearing quickly.
    Have a cozy weekend.

  10. Vee, I hope you are all cozy inside and enjoying a warm mug of your favorite drink during the latest weather event. I'll have to check out the links you have mentioned.
All the shows you mentioned take us back to simpler times. I'm glad you get to spend time with your dad, even if it's in front of the television. ♥

  11. Yes- I am putting up a prayer request for MrSweetNothings on my blog tomorrow. So sad---I just feel sick as I have been in bj's shoes and know what she will be going through.
Have to check out The Brown Bungalow. I don't know that blog.
Hope you have a great weekend, Vee. xo Diana

  12. Praying for Bill and for BJ! I went to Barbara's post and it is a good one. I've been experiencing some sleeplessness and I always take some time to pray and talk with the Lord.

I'm sorry for all your blizzards! wow! Kind of like the Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder! Storm after Storm.

Glad you have power and internet.

  13. I've already been praying and sending bj my thoughts - and of course I'll continue daily. They are such a wonderful couple.
More snow for you I see - hoping you manage Vee, remember, ease up on shoveling.
    Hugs - Mary

  14. You are right about the post about going through tough times. One to keep and reread. I loved the 7 things learned from Andy Taylor. All were very true. Our small group of couples did a Bible study based around the show. It was one of our favorite studies.

  15. My sweet sister friend...
thank you for your prayers and asking others to pray for Mr. Sweet..your gift of prayers is the finest gift of all.

  16. Bill and bj are in my prayers. I'm so sorry this has happened to them. Praying for healing for Bill.

I do hope that your father continues with his tv watching as long as possible. It was my dad's favorite pastime when he was old and living alone. Once he moved into a care facility and gave up his tv watching did his dementia escalate. I often think that when he stopped keeping mentally active and just sat, that it had a lot to do with it.

Boo on all that snow and I hope the blizzard fizzles out. You take care and stay safe!

  17. I am praying for Bill and bj...praying hard!

I'm glad I put you and Barbra's blogs together Vee. I knew you were a wonderful match in devotion and philosophy.

Glad you have been able to enjoy the old time TV programs with your Dad. They are the best!

  18. That is so sweet that you and your dad spend time together watching the oldies. I wish I could have done that with my dad. Enjoy your snow --probably not!

  19. I'm praying for Bill! Out loud, by name and on purpose!
Now I'm off to visit the links you gave us!
Stay safe up there in all that winter weather! 86 degrees today and I'm wearing shorts and going barefoot!

  20. We had all that snow and today it is all gone. Warmed up again and was sunny.
I'm not a reader of BJ's blog but will visit her today.
I remember watching tv shows with my dad when I was a kid.

  22. I adore BJ and Mr. Sweet has always been a part of her posts so it feels like we know him just as much as her!! My prayers have been said everyday that he improves with each day.

Those shows are fun. I'm actually watching old episodes of Frasier. It's hysterical!

  26. Thanks for the heads up on BJ's husband, I've been over to visit and hope the best for her family.
Barbara's post was powerful with some things to think about for sure.
Glenn and I watch a lot of the old shows regularly, nostalgic enjoyment. :-) My favourite episode of Mayberry is when Andy eats three spaghetti dinners in one night, thanks to Goober. lol Hard to believe it's the same guy playing Matlock, isn't it? Of course it's fun when 'Helen' plays a judge occasionally.

  32. Yes, I heard about Bill and am keeping them lifted up. I think it is wonderful that you are spending this time with your dad...and watching these shows, TV at it's finest. Andy is one of my faves and those 7 things are absolutely true. These virtues are hard to come by today...not just the TV shows but in real life. Those were the days :)

  33. Yes, I'm praying for bj and her husband. Love the old Andy Griffith shows, esp Aunt Bee. I will have to check out the links.

  34. ...just to say we are still alive...doing well, actually.. my main prayer these days is please don't let him hurt...and he is in no pain at all...one of his meds makes him a bit hyper and he talks until i have a ringing in my ears and i tell him to take a nice long nap (lol) and he usually does...because another of his meds makes him sleepy. We are doing ok, tho.xoxo (and I'm not EVEN gotta "paint you a pic" of how "we" get in the shower...

  37. Good evening, lovely Vee! So I just came from your most recent post....do you really have that much snow?! I must say it's beautiful, but I can imagine you are ready for some melting :)

I wanted to let you know you're in my thoughts. I hope you have a most blessed Sunday. Hugs and joy to you!

  38. So thankful for the link to Barbara's Reflections Journal... it was very applicable to me and even more so to someone I love who has been plagued with various fears. Many conversations about how God's perfect love casts out fear, etc. But her words were good for me to hear.

    Blessings,
    Christi
