Merry Christmas, Darlings!

The wonderful bloggers I visit and who visit me are among the most loving, generous, incredible people I know. I wish that I could send Christmas cards...I can peck words out on the keyboard, but writing is a challenge. So is everything I do actually. When one doesn't have much use of the dominant hand...oh my! You should see the wrapping. Hilarious! γƒ„

So that is my excuse for not sending Christmas cards this year. I am working on sending e-cards so don't ignore that notice if it should arrive in your inbox.

🌲🌟🌲🌟🌲

Noted on the back: "Christmas 1955 At least the cat took a good picture." Ouch!

Look what I found recently. It is a vintage photo from Christmas 1955. I am almost two years old happily reading my book. The interconnection of family is interesting to note. My grandmother is helping me hold the book, my mother is holding me, and my mother's grandmother is holding her arm.

Then there are the neighbors. Dear friends. This little boy has been featured on the blog before here and as an adult here (in the collage at the end).

🌲🌟🌲🌟🌲

Oh my, it smells good around here. Abby made me a beautiful Maine potpourri with fir, pine, cedar, winterberries, and seashells, so fresh and clean!

In case my kitchen windowsill is getting boring...My daughter-in-law's kitchen windowsill

Son and family's Living room fireplace and mantel

The grandsons chose this year's tree

Love the vignettes that Michelle creates in vintage suitcases. Note the snowman roasting a marshmallow over the candle.

A favorite print at my sister's home

Sister says that she isn't done. Looks done to me...she has even placed our dad's cap in the tree...unique, meaningful, and fun!

In case, I am not back before December 25, do have a blessed and wonderful day. The Lord is with us and there is nothing better or more worthy of celebrating.

  1. Merry Christmas Vee! I am so happy that we met through the blog world and I love your daughter-in-laws window sill. That suitcase is amazing! How I wish I would think of decorating ideas like this.

  2. Vee, I adore the photo of you on your mother's lap surrounded by those that love you! What a wonderful keepsake. You were a cutie pie. The decor in the suitcase is darling. Our grands love to roast marshmallows--I may need to steal this idea. The grands tree is lovely as well as your sister's tree. Placing your dad's hat in the tree is a memorable one for all of you, I'm sure. Sending you love, my friend. Merry Christmas! ♥

  4. That photo is a treasure. You are adorable with your little storybook. I can see a strong family resemblance between you and your mother. Enjoyed the glimpses into your family member's homes all decorated for Christmas. The grandson's choice of trees made me smile. It fills up that bay window beautifully.
It was so nice to see your post this morning, Vee. Especially knowing how hard it is for you to write. I sincerely appreciate your effort to stay in touch with us. Merry Christmas to you and yours. XO

  5. What lovely pictures of the festive homes in your family. Thanks for sharing dear friend. Also, did I really give you those Maine gatherings in a glass dish? They look so perfect, like something from Down East magazine. Must be the Vee touch on them. Love you. ~ Abby

  6. I’m so sorry about your hand! I looked back over some of your recent blog posts but I can’t seem to find out what happened to your hand. I know your knee was bummed up....
I just love old photographs. What a treasure you have in this one. I went back and read the two links to the little boy......and your son’s home is beautiful! Yours is warm and cozy like mine. Your son’s is fresh and clean! I find it interesting to see what kind of home decor our children have when they are grown. My youngest son is ultra modern. My oldest son has Country French. Amber is open, light and airy while Summer is most like me - just not so much. And none of them hang on to things like I do.
Love you, Vee. I present you daily to the Lord in my morning prayers. Merry Christmas to you and may God give you the desires of your heart.....

  10. Loved all the pictures and reading your thoughts, Vee. The vignette in the suitcase idea is wonderful!!!!

BTW, I'm having problems leaving comments on the blogs of others. I am trying to leave this on your blog; if it doesn't work, I'll send you an email with the comments. The problem appears to be clearly on my end of things.

  15. Lovely photos of past and present Christmases, Vee. I'm sorry your hand isn't working so well. Is it a result of the cancer or the treatment? Merry Christmas to you and those you love. Emmanuel. God with us. God with you. God with me. Such a marvel.

  26. Beautiful, Vee! I love the look of that potpourri that Abby makes. She is so creative in everything that she does.

Everything is gorgeous. The print at your sister's home ... love that. The vignette in the vintage suitcase ... I have a suitcase much like that one. Why have I never thought of using it in a creative way as Michelle does!

And of course the vintage family photo is so lovely. Tells quite a story. I had to follow the links and learn about the neighbor boy. So interesting!

I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas! We did, and also a wonderful day after as our young friends Sam and Jenn came for supper and gifts. But now I'm officially tired.

  28. Lost my ability to comment earlier this week (again) but now it's fixed for good (we hope). So my comments here are late but I hope your Christmas was all you wanted it to be. Your pictures make me nostalgic for winter snow at this time of year, but we're spending a weekend at the beach to help us weather it through! LOL!

Happy New Year dear Vee. Keeping you in my prayers!

  29. Well I'm a little late in reading your Christmas post, but it made me smile none-the-less. Whoever wrote on the back of that old photo has a good sense of humour (related to you, I'm sure). Loved the Christmas decor tour...and share your fondness for your sister's Poland Springs print. Merry Christmas:) LOL
