I've decided to share some of the Maine coast this time.

I found this poem in my grandmother's treasures. Fortunately, it was also available online so I didn't have to type it up.
Sea Fever
by John Masefield
I must go down to the seas again,
to the lonely sea and the sky
and all I ask is a tall ship,
and a star to steer her by;
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song
and the white sails shaking,
And the grey mist in the sea’s face,
and a grey dawn breaking.
I must go down to the seas again,
for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call
that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day
with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume,
and the seagulls crying.
I must go down to the seas again,
to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale's way
where the wind’s like a whetted knife
And all I ask is a merry yarn
From a laughing fellow rover,
and quiet sleep and a sweet dream
when ere the long trip’s over

ReplyDeleteVee,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, peaceful photos of Maine ... your trips to the coast look so refreshing, just like a get-away should. "I must go down to the seas" myself soon, been too long.
I don't have anything to post to the party as I haven't blogged much at all this past month. I'll enjoy visiting the participants though.
Did want to let you know your idea of the notecard party inspired me to actually have one of my photos commercially printed to a notecard! It is so cool to be able to send a handwritten message to someone and a bit of my "art". I posted about it on my blog with credit back to you :)
