It's so quiet here this morning in the mist. All I can hear is coffee perking, John turning the newspaper pages, and my own fingers clicking on the keyboard. Perhaps Molly's soft whiffling as she sleeps under the piano bench. Wait. Yes, I can hear her. Well, anyway, come on in; John'll give you the comics to read; I'll pour you a cup of coffee; and we do have a piece of that crunchy apple pie.
My big task yesterday was to paint the little side deck over there. The stain was getting pretty tired and worn. If this mist clears, it needs a second coat. That's my kneeling pad — the thing that looks like a giant chicklet. It serves very well to let anyone know that s/he shouldn't use those stairs. In addition, both cars are parked in unwelcoming ways, but don't let them stop you, feel free to use the front door!
This was John's task, which he knocked out in one day. Now he has the garage's east side done. Yay! Oh, sure, I'll keep you posted on the progress every now and then until completion.
Have a fabulous Friday and enjoy the weekend!
Man I want to be there. LOVE those kind of mornings. Especially the quiet. I lived in California for two years 2005-2007 and had an apartment a block from the 405 freeway. It was always a roarrrr at any time of the day or night but mostly heard loudly in the morning. I would never choose to live - well in Southern California for one - and that close to a freeway. Mornings should be of a quiet nature.
ReplyDeleteGood morning! Sounds wonderful. I wish I could be right over. : )
ReplyDeleteGreat job yesterday..enjoy YOUR week-end!
Your house is so beautiful to me Vee!! I love the colors you chosen, the yard is so luscious and you guys keep up with everything so wonderfully. I hope you have a peaceful Friday and very relaxing weekend my friend, hugs and love, Dawn
ReplyDeleteI love misty mornings. We've been enjoying rain since yesterday afternoon. This morning feels like fall is creeping in. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteSmiles,
Carol
You two have built a beautiful home. That John is a dynamo at getting things done, or maybe it seems that way cause we havce so much to do and I'm married to Mr. Turtle. Well, anyway. I'd love to have your backyard view. Perhaps when we fence our backyard next Spring, I'll have a mural painted on it depicting something pleasant! :D Yes, I'm sure that will help.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Debbie
Quite a contrast to my bright sunshiny day! But misty mornings are very calming. Scunch over...as we say in the south and I'll sit with you at the computer. I like a little cream in my coffee! Enjoy your morning!
ReplyDeleteQuiet mornings are the best kind, don't you think? I am not much of a morning person. Interpreted: I am up but not much use for anything, especially conversation. So I would feel right at home there this morning...listening to the coffee perking and the newspaper pages and the computer keys. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a beautiful morning and I'm sure the mist will dry up soon so you can get to your staining! Hope you have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite kind of day! After spending days on end dragging a hose from one section of the yard to another because of the extreme heat, these misty days are a dream come true. I love being snuggled under a warm afghan drinking a hot beverage and reading a good book. Have fun painting!
ReplyDeleteA misty morning! -happy sigh- You have captured the feeling, in lovely photos. -another happy sigh-
ReplyDelete"Auntie"
We are having a light drizzle here this morning and the temperatures have cooled off.
ReplyDeleteI decided it would be a wonderful day to make a pot of chili and bake some cookies ( Oatmeal and Chocolate Chip to please all parties).
Your place is looking great. Love that view from your (I'm assuming) back deck! Love those quiet mornings. :)
((Hugs))
Laura
I was surprised to find a seriously foggy morning here as we headed out to Starbucks before picking Jonathan up from his night shift.
ReplyDeleteThen I was so sad to have left my camera behind as the swan was swimming on a foggy pond and the tree lined drive at the theatre looked pretty amazing!
Yippee for another side of siding done! I like the misty shot. Have a good Friday!
ReplyDeleteThis was a warm balm to me today..thanks for the invite!
ReplyDeleteBit of a mist here too this morning but it's gone now and sunny out.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to stop by for a morning visit. Maybe even take a walk with you. : )
I can smell that coffee! I wish I was in the neighborhood, I would take you up on that offer.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
A quiet misty morning sounds lovely. It's quiet here, too, but the sun is streaming in across the couch as I type. I should be hearing the washer going, but the load is finished so I'd better heave myself out of the sun and get to work.
ReplyDeleteYour home is looking so spiffy.
Wow, so beautiful. (Looks similar here, but it is smoke not mist. Not pretty at all.) You two have been so busy. Enjoy the mist and relax. :)
ReplyDeleteI was up and out early today with a long list of errands in my hand. It feels good to have gotten a lot accomplished, but secretly I prefer the morning you describe. A nice way to ease into the day.
ReplyDeleteYour house is looking so nice. The hard work has paid off.
Have a great weekend.
Misty Mornings are so peaceful. I love to sit on the patio and enjoy them here. Your home is looking so loved. Just before winter sets in is a great time to do a little spruce up. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a cozy morning at Home! I love those types of mornings where all is quiet and calm. Hope your weekend is delightful!
ReplyDeleteI would dearly love to visit you and your pretty cottage! I'm arriving a bit late for a visit, so I'm sure the coffee and pie are history, LOL.
ReplyDeleteI love quiet misty mornings, my neighbors are up all hours of the night.....when they finally go to work/school/sleep, it is wonderful. John is not a procrastinator! Wonderful to be like him. xo
ReplyDeleteThank your for the virtual coffee, pie, and comics, what a great way to end my day. I hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYa'll are getting your cottage all pretty for the winter. We still have a couple of biggies to finish on our place before cold weather.
ReplyDeleteWe've been adding storm windows, one at a time and we have 12 windows that needed storm windows. We only have 4 more to go. Due to the strict budget, we just buy one (two, if they are on sale), Mr. Sweet sands and caulks and I paint...then he puts the storm window on. They look really nice and I know they will be so much better on heating and cooling.
Second thing...we need to repaint our black, outdoor shutters...they are getting pretty dull looking.
Your place is really looking nice.
Now, a CRUNCHY Apple pie? Gotta go read.
The coffee and crunchy apple pie sound perfect for a foggy morning. It was foggy here too and cloudy until noon then it got quite sunny and hot. A perfect day! Enjoy the weekend. Hugs,
ReplyDeletePam
Crunchy apple pie-I could go for a piece of that, for sure. And a piping hot tea! But meeting you and John would be the funnest of all.
ReplyDeleteIt does look very peaceful there in your misty morning setting. Do you live near water, where the fog rolls in from?
We, too, are trying to get some outdoor painting done before the weather turns too cool.
It looked like a beautiful new England morning up there, Vee! John does beautiful work. I wish he was near as we need some carpentry work done on our back door. Our weekend list of chores is a long one...more sprucing up to do!
ReplyDeleteI'll be right over!
ReplyDeleteI'll be right over! Lol! I wish.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I love a good misty morning...you and John are doing a lovely job on your house and garage! It looks great!
Deanna
I wish I could just come over and sit and drink coffee and walk around the house with you and cheer John on as we walk past him hard at work.
ReplyDeleteI'm coming...to sit over there and have a quiet coffee with you. I hardly remember a quiet morning anymore!
ReplyDeleteI love misty morning! This one looks so inviting.Bring on the crunchy pie.
