What great pics Vee - and nice to meet you via Donna's Photo Challenge.
I'm hoping the first one is not how it looks right now - in other words that you have some green bursting forth from those wintry looking trees! If you're in MA though I know seasonal changes are late - I lived there, and in NH, several years myself and recall the late arrival of many Springs!
Second photo I love..........simplicity in every way. Anything linen and antique or vintage always grabs my attention. Damask napkins (serviettes in England) are the best - I get mine out for company and think why don't I use them more often instead of yucky paper ones!
Happy weekend - sending warm sunshine from the south - in case you're not getting any!!!! Hugs - Mary (A Breath of Fresh Air)
Well Vee nice job. Sorry to hear you all still have snow and maybe more coming? I love the napkins and server too. I have not idea how I got my shots I just shoot auto. QMM
I love your morning view! And that second photo of yours blows me away! Beautifully simple - a home run!!! Light play with shadows, monochromatic, hard object contrasting with soft objects, swirls contrasting with straight lines, and diagonals! Perfection...
I love your simplicity photos. Even though there many things to look at in the top photo, I like that it's still 'simple'. The focus goes to the back of the house and the smoke. The napkins and silver server make an excellent subject. We got about 2 inches of snow which is sort of melting now. Enjoy the day. Pam
Very nice. I like the napkin shot a lot... Hope your weekend is good. I hear a storm was headed your way. I'm ready for a good batch of sunshine and I can imagine you are, too.
Both of your simplicity shots are lovely. Indoors and out, with much the same colour scheme. I do love the elegance of bare branches against the sky, but I know that you must be getting tired of winter and longing for that first blush of green that hovers around tree skeletons like a cloud.
Linens and silver seem to go together so well. I can hardly pass up damask napkins when I see them in the thrift stores. They are so beautiful, and so lovely to use.
I hope you are doing well. Thinking of you - hoping that spring comes quickly to your heart and home.
Great photos for the challenge Vee. I like the second one best as I can interpret the challenge well with it after reading the comments on various posts. I really didn't know what was expected. Judith
'tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free, 'tis the gift to come down where we ought to be . . ." It's also reminding me of those dress patterns that I always chose because the name was "Simplicity"--ha, ha, not always, at least for me.
I love both images Vee - I can imagine how difficult it is to select a "Simplicity" shot - you've chosen well - a great challenge. I might try it later in the day after I've re-planted my garden pots for some Winter color! Just be patient Vee dear, Spring will come eventually - "O Wind, If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?..... Percy Bysshe Shelley Shane ♥
Yes, I think you're right. Simplicity is not always...ummmm...simple. I am looking around my living room right now, trying to identify something as "simple."
I love your choices, both the morning view and those beautiful linens.
Yes simplicity is a true talent. We were forced to get a bit simpler when we downsized but I still keep weeding out. And there's still too much "stuff"!
Your photos are most excellent Vee! They are perfect inspirations of Simplicity. Have you thought about getting into professional photography? I think you could sell some of your photos.
Thanks for helping me decide that I'm done with the bench! What a relief... on to the next project, you know how that is.
Nice B&W shots, Vee1 We had 12 inches of snow last Tuesday and it all melted away by Thursday. It was warm since but this Tuesday we may get snow again. Will winter ever quit? Colorado needs the moisture but I'd take rain over snow!
Nicely done and your morning view is my kind of view :)
ReplyDeleteAhhh.....simplicity is so soothing and a treat for the eyes.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing your view and the napkins are a wonderful photo for this challenge as well. Happy weekend my friend!

It looks even worse today with a covering of snow. This was taken several days ago. No spring here yet!
DeleteI couldn't help but reply . . . Yup, that's how it looks! We're anxiously awaiting Spring!

ReplyDeleteVery nicely done Vee. Linen and silver...beautiful!

I love simplicity. The napkins & cake server remind me of my Mother's that I have in a drawer. It's time for them to come out & be enjoyed.

Love them both. Beautiful morning and elegant composition for the napkins.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos you have to describe simplicity! Your cake server looks very similar to the one my mom gave me that was a wedding present of hers.
