Poetry 101. I sat in class studying these simple lines and thought how stupid. I was the stupid one. How often these lines have returned to me throughout the years.
So much depends on the yellow forsythia blooming behind the barn...
So much depends on the white foam rolling in on the wave...
So much depends on the you-fill-in-the-blank...
Last Sunday, I thought of it again when I saw this bit of red popping out between the great tree trunks and beyond the rock wall.

Go ahead, try it! It's fun.
Thanks to everyone who has tried my challenge. You surprised me and it has tickled me to no end. You're the best!

Have a great day Vee!
I guess I missed Poetry 101...or else I have forgotten about this 'masterwork of American 20th century poetry'. I'm too uncreative to give it a try this morning...but I like Ellen's version. I wonder where that white chevy is taking her. Oh...and I like your red birdhouse version too!
ReplyDeleteOK. Here goes - I never took poetry and have not wrapped my head around Haiku yet. :-)

Yours was very good, especially since you provided a visual too. I do not get the wheel barrow and chickens though, feel free to explain. LOL

:) thanks - that WAS fun. Your's is better though......
Today, I'm sure, I'll be looking at things and repeating these words. What fun and what a way to notice and cherish things that might go unnoticed.
ReplyDeleteThis is deep, Vee! I vaguely remember learning about poetry, haiku in particular. "So much depends upon me getting my head on straight and out of the funk to get anything done". xo

This is going to be as bad as an ear worm.
I've long been known to admit a simple fact. In a twist of humor, God gave me a great (GREAT) love of read poetry but didn't make me a poet.
ReplyDeleteI won't even try.
Besides, today all I can think is
So much depends
on grace and mercy
When my husband sees the bender
I just put in my fender.
See? When I'm not supposed to rhyme, I do. When I'm supposed to rhyme, I don't. Sad, isn't it? Not half as sad as the backside of Ebenezer the car.
OK here I go don't laugh.

I don't recall the poem from school days Vee, but it is one of those catchy phrases that can pop up in one's head a lot. I love the photo! I love the stone wall, the trees and the pop of red in the birdhouse. I see you have a new header - cute banner. :) The sun has come out and we're in for a streak of nice weather here. Yay!
ReplyDeleteMy brain is too strained to do this well but just for fun lets give it a try.....

This is fun as a game, Vee!
I came by here earlier in the day and thought to myself that I'd need some time to think of a "so much depends", but then I got busy and eventually left for the big city for awhile. You know what that means, I forgot all about this poem and now my poor lil brain is too tired to come up with something. All that to say this...I don't remember this poem in school, but I'm old. =)
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect for poetry month, Vee! I lopv e that spot of red among the grey trees abnd rocks.
ReplyDeleteSo much depends upon how fast

That is what I saw this morning...I won't go into details how it ended.
