Spring finally arrived Saturday morning last and John was so surprised by it that he had to sit right down to soak in the sun.
That's very nearly how it happened anyway. We had the grands for much of the weekend and had to come up with innovative things to keep them busy. We began with a rousing game of pick up sticks as in pick up
real sticks. They were zipping all over so fast that they were nothing more than a blur. John was supervising.
We spent most of our time outdoors. It would have been a crime not to. And, as a reward for a weekend well spent, we drove to Giffords for ice cream on Sunday afternoon.

The greening has begun in earnest and it is lovely to see.

It's much easier to take photos of the scenery than of little boys since this is how they feel about the camera these days...

Enough With the Camera! We're busy with Fruit Pop. |
Sweet!
ReplyDeleteSpring arrived here last week and I am so thankful! Everything is green and beautiful! I felt just like John I wanted to soak up the sunshine...and I'm glad I did because it's been rainy for a few days now!
I hope your back is feeling better!
Deanna
Aren't you a clever grandma to think of pick up sticks outside.:-). I've initiated pick up stones which goes over pretty good too if the prize at the end is yummy, or fattens a little wallet with coins.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny to see the hand up for you to quit with the picture taking. Wouldn't life be dull without the grands?
Judith
Albeit an unusual Spring, I'm loving it. I've wondered where you were...now I see!
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Hasn't it been beautiful in the east? Wow. I'm loving this and I hope it continues. I feel sorry for those who live on the prairies and are getting winter again today. What fun you had with your grandsons. Great to see them helping out playing "pick up sticks" and the reward of ice cream sounds wonderful to me. I'd even help for ice cream. :) I hope you have a blessed week Vee. Hugs, Pam
ReplyDeleteLook wonderful! And sounds it.
ReplyDeleteThe perfect weekend Vee, and afterwards... the feet go up and the recliner is activated! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat week-end! Love the "pick up sticks" haha....I have gotten those same poses sometimes when they see Grandma coming with the camera, lol. Enjoy your day Vee!
ReplyDeleteI loved that playing "pick up sticks" seemed like a game to them! It looks like it was a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
You do think of great ways to entertain the grands. I've been thrilled to see that your little guys don't mind having their pictures taken. I guess they all outgrow it, but we grandmothers are able to wear them down. Be persisitent, Vee! They'll give in. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that we're able to catch up with you (green) soon. The sun has been coming out and we had our first day of 50 degrees last Friday.
We had our first really warm day yesterday. Stephanie and I have been e-mailing back and forth how the sunshine has us both tweaking our houses. She's changing around furniture.
ReplyDeleteOur grandchildren may be here in June!
Hooray for a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteLovely spring time pics!
-chuckle- Kids do know how to gently say "Enough camera".... Grand-kids that is. With one of my KIDS, he just hollers! lol. The one, who is just like me!
We are enjoying the spring weather as well. This was the first weekend we were able to get outside and start cleaning up al the winter debris. My grandchildren are used to me and the camera...they are not always cooperative but they know I am persistent
ReplyDeleteOh, that seems like a grand weekend indeed! Those little boys are adorable, and I know you had some precious moments with them (even if you are all tuckered out now!). How wonderful that the Lord sent spring to your corner on such a weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am smiling at the reluctant photo subjects! (We have some of those in our group too...and it seems to be a gender thing...hmmm...)
What a glorious weekend you had with all your "boys"! How happy you all were together! Spring is arriving in northeast Ohio, too, and I can't find my camera!Phooey!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that spring has finally arrived for you!
ReplyDeleteLOL isn't that the truth about taking their pictures. My grandchildren have become less and less eager for me to take their pictures....your home is lovely..
ReplyDeleteLove, Mona
So glad you had a beautiful weekend! What a great idea to have the grands play pick up sticks. Can you send them my way? I have a lot of sticks in my yard. :0)
ReplyDeletePick up sticks!!!! Love it and then Ice cream ... great payment!
ReplyDeleteSo glad Spring is finally catching up to you and John! Love the hand saying "not now grammie" Too funny! I hope I can catch up the next couple days at home...I'm sure our grass has grown way too long while I've been gone...oye!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had such a lovely spring weekend! 'Bout time, isn't it? The first half of our weekend was chilly and rainy, the second half was perfect. As was yesterday and today. I'm heading out the door in a few minutes to enjoy this weather while I can!
ReplyDeleteIt arrived here too on Saturday - hurrah!!!! You are too funny and have me giggling with your picture captions and your adorable grands!! Enjoy the warmth and outdoors this week.
ReplyDeleteSo happy your spring is on!!! now enjoy the outdoors and look out for those mosquitos they are big this year.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see all the green grass and fun time outside! The boys are cute...all of them, especially the one sitting on the grass! Enjoy your week my friend!
ReplyDeleteYay! I knew it would arrive eventually. But --- oh, the wait. It can take SO long! Things are looking beautifully spring-like. And the grands lood ---- grand and fun to have around. Cute!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a beautiful and fun and busy weekend! So glad spring has sprung by you. Ice cream just tops it off! xo
ReplyDeleteSo glad that sunshine and spring have arrived in your neck of the woods. Enjoy your time in the great outdoors!
ReplyDeleteFunny...I get that 'hand-up' sign from my grands on occasion as well...when they see the camera come out. :)
We had a bit of Spring for a few days...hopefully it will return. Your Grands are adorable!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Robin
So lovely to see the family able to get out and enjoy the Spring-finally.
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty clever way to get the sticks picked up out of the yard.
I bet the cuties didn't even know they were working.
It looks like John makes a great Supervisor from his point on the grass too.
It is wonderful to hear that Spring has arrived for you in the North. We are enjoying our nearly daily walks and the beauty that this time of the year brings.
ReplyDeleteThose kiddos are growing soooo quickly.
Hooray for spring's arrival. It seems to me you thought of a very clever game of pick up sticks. I seem to be picking up a lot of them in my own yard. A visit to the ice cream shop seems like the ideal way to end the day.
ReplyDeleteSo funny about the grands not wanting to be photographed. Good thing there are so many other subjects in your neighborhood.
Cute post from beginning to end.
ReplyDeleteHugs.
Oh my, don't we love spring and all the beauty it presents!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of John *relaxing......and the grandsons doing their thing!!
Life is good!!
Oh you make me laugh ... "not my barn...not my meadow ..." But those are your grands and that hand "enough pictures" looks familiar as I've experienced that in our neck of the woods. I'm glad you had a good weekend and your version of pick up sticks sounds grand -- what a good way to get a little exercise in a game-- all limbs rather than just fingers. And now you are in recovery mode ...
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that spring has finally arrived for you.
ReplyDeleteWe are enjoying seeing a second one of the season here at HT.
If I could draw a big smilie face I would, so just imagine a big ole' grin on my wrinkled face.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Sue
Your grand boys are too cute. I love that no camera shot! We finally got warm weather today but it's supposed to drop again, but that's okay, I got a lot done around the house today and having the doors and windows open felt so good after being closed up for so long.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that spring has finally arrived at your place. She really meandered all over before getting there, didn't she? We were warm, but now it's cooler again, with a chilly wind off the water. Still, the flowers are blooming and brightening the world immensely.
ReplyDeleteLove the little hand saying, NO, while continuing on with what was really important.
Hi dear Vee,
ReplyDeleteI was JUST thinking of stopping my work for the day and tuning into you and Maine and lo and behold, there flashed your name on the screen. Yahooo.
Loved all the shots of the spring coming on. I so miss Maine, but I so love working in my garden here and harvesting fruit and veggies.
Sending love and loved the grands and wish I could go to Giffords (or in our case it is Round Top).
Sharon
LOL! My grandsons feel the same way about photos, Vee! It is hard to find them sitting still long enough to snap one!
ReplyDeleteI've been baby watching all week--my daughter went back to work. It's fun but exhausting. I am a little out of practice. Luckily, she is a very good baby!
ore bi-polar weather coming our way...we had 80 temps on Monday and it will snow tomorrow on May 1!! Everyone here said the weather is particularly crazy this spring...lol!
It must have been a great weekend, between the 'greening', picking up the sticks, soaking up the sun, ice cream and grandsons. All great ingredients!
ReplyDeleteMmm..ice cream sounds wonderful I keep telling Mr OP that we should skip supper one night and and go get an ice cream. Maybe for Mother's Day:)
ReplyDeleteThe little ones are so cute and growing up.
