A Bowl of Sunshine~Mosaic Monday

There, through the long, long summer hours,
The golden light should lie,
And thick young herbs and groups of flowers
Stand in their beauty by...

~from June by William Cullen Bryant

Not the best photography on such a wildly sunny day. I just liked the way the sunshine fills that one rose as if the rose were a bowl catching it.

  3. Beautiful dear Vee, and I love the poem, which I'd never before read. Thank you! Do you mind if I use it at my talk at the Boothbay Botanic Garden in August? It is perfect.

Everything looks lovely and brightened my day.

Yes, I too would love to hear mama mallard's version of the "kidnapping."

    Love,

    Sharon

  4. Hi Vee
The rose does look like a bowl of sunshine; you captured it on just the right angle. What is the big round white thing behind the rose?

  9. Thanks for sharing your beautiful flowers!
Thanks for stopping by. There was a light fog the morning I took the pics and the sun reflecting on the lens, along with the blue water all the pics I took on the lake that morning had a blue hue to them.
    Have a great week.

  11. And here I am watching the weather channel with tornado threats to Maine. Guessing not your part of Maine?

    1. Wrong. Yes, they are for my corner as they are making a diagonal swipe across the state. The sky is black; we've discussed our escape plan. The good thing about tornadoes in Maine besides rarity is that they don't have much opportunity to get going. If we do have one, it'll be an E-1 or lower most likely.

  20. Pretty mosaic and quote. You asked if I had a new lens. No, I just have a good zoom on my point and shoot. I'm off now to look at the Photo Challenge I just noticed on your sidebar. Have a good evening, hope the storms bypassed you.

  21. Such a timely poem. Blooms fill June days with beauty. So lovely. Herbs and flowers are filling my garden. It's such a gush of beauty that comes all at once and I can hardly take it in. Love the sunlight cupped in your open rose.

  29. Dear Vee

For me your photos are quite magical as they take me back to my garden in summer - rather than the gloomy state it's in now!!

If I lived closer I would be asking you very nicely if I could have a piece of your lovely iris! Sadly for me I live far too far away and the Department of Agriculture would be frowning furiously if they read this!!!
