This blog is broken. I kind of like my current header, but about a week ago, because the lilacs are no more, I tried to change it.
Now I have changed the header gazillion or more times in the nearly eight years I've been blogging and have never had a lick of trouble. This time, the edit button is gone! Just gone — slid right off the right side of the page on both my PC and the iPad. I do have a question in the blogger forum about it and I have reported it to *oogle. Have you had any experience with this kind of thing? Otherwise, it'll be lilacs in December...
~it's gone~
I do notice that Blogger has made a few minor changes on the layout page so perhaps it is a temporary glitch. (It's already lasted a week so I am short on patience.)
Okay, moving right along... Have you had breakfast yet?
~it's gone~
What? Not breakfast? This is our new Friday night meal. Friday nights have traditionally been reserved for pizza; we have been substituting a Cool Veggie Pizza for a few weeks now. The original Cool Veggie Pizza recipe comes from The Pampered Chef. It's a crescent roll base with a cream cheese "frosting" and then the veggies of your choice. This one has onion, green pepper, tomatoes, celery, and carrots. Tonight the pizza will also have some chopped black olives. Oh my, we do love it! Anyway, my cream cheese frosting is a bit different from those you might have seen on line. Mine has an 8 ounce block of cream cheese, a tablespoon of mayo, a tablespoon of sour cream, and a teaspoon or so of dry ranch dressing (to taste). Then it is all whipped to a frenzy. This is a fun little recipe that one can make her own! And it works well as a savory for afternoon teas if the pieces are cut into those cute shapes.
Okay, you wanted to see aprons...
~peek at pocket detail~
If interested, you can learn more about the apron pattern *here* on a post I wrote last year. Plan B turned out to be gifting the apron to someone who would appreciate it...I hope!
And I have been making other things, too, but this post is already way too long and all over the place.
Have a wonderful, blessed, relaxing weekend!
Vee, I know I need to revamp my blog...but what happened to you is the very reason I am still using my same old format....I am scared it will all drift off in the ionosphere.... Your Friday night pizza sounds so good to me. I know I would love it. The aprons are adorable. Blessings to you for a great weekend, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteHmmm, it looks like the formatting box has extended too far to the right, so the edit button is no longer visible. I checked my format screen and everything looks ok. Have you been backing up your template regularly, keeping the code file on your computer? If so, you could try to reload the template. And it would be prudent to try it out on a "test" blog first. (I have 2 test blogs which I keep private. They are sure handy for practicing and trying out links, format changes, etc.)
ReplyDeleteI did a past several years ago that should how to do blog backups, including saving your blog's template code. You can search my blog to find the tutorial.
ReplyDeleteWish I could help with the blog issue, but I don't know what happened or how to fix it :-(. Your Friday night pizza sounds and looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYour apron it beautiful. And I don't know what could have happened to the button. That pizza looks delish and I am making a copy of the recipe. You have a nice cool weekend while I will be in hotlanta sweating - lol.
ReplyDeleteI have NO idea how to fix the blogging issue, but I am needing to do mine soon so I will be watching for answers....the pizza sounds delicious! Always looking for something new around here, and this might just be it! Enjoy your week-end!
ReplyDeleteOh no, so sorry about the blogging issue! That's certainly NO fun....I truly hope everything is worked out in no time.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful aprons, Vee. I love the jean pocket and those flower buttons are just too cute. Also, the veggie pizza looks incredibly good! Enjoy your weekend!
I love that veggie pizza recipe, it's a staple here for holiday appetizers. The aprons are adorable! The lovely thing (I think) about aprons is that they wear out and you can make more new cute ones :) Re: the edit button, have you tired making your page a smaller magnification and see if it shows then? I don't know how to actually fix it, but you might at least be able to use it that way.
ReplyDeleteYes, it makes no difference. The box just extends to the right.
DeleteEek! Just ran to see if I still have an "edit" button. I do. But there are other frustrations. It seems that blogger has glitches every so often. Sometimes they disappear. Sometimes they remain...like the fact that I no longer get email notifications for all of my comments. Why some and not others? No idea.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of your Friday night pizza, summer-style! I must give this a try with my family.
The aprons are darling!!
Dear Vee, Yes, I can see that an Edit Button missing is not making things easy for you; I hope it reappears for you very soon! I love this idea for a cool summer pizza idea, and I do remember trying these at a Pampered Chef party and it was so good! I will buy what I need for it today!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Roxy
I'm snitching your pizza recipe, it sounds yummy! Sorry you are having blogger issues- I just tried to update mine the other day and I only got far enough to change the background color & font before I said whoa. I've lost blogs, posts and comments. And I have been on here for 8 years- and should have this all figured out! Maybe the edit button will return..it couldn't have gotten off too far. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI just checked my blogger layout page and mine has an edit button for the header. Aren't these things annoying? Love your aprons!
ReplyDeleteI just checked mine and the edit button IS there. Have no suggestions for you, sorry.
ReplyDeleteLove those aprons!!
Aprons are cute, pizza looks good … I'm going to check my dashboard now or whatever it's called. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteVee: I will have to look again as I was afraid to touch anything when I saw it looked different!
ReplyDeleteBlogger messes up for me all the time. My edit button still works. Maybe it's the device you're using? Who knows. Hope it's fixed soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm so gonna copy your recipe for the pizza!! Just sent the ingrediants to my Chef (husband). I'm sure he'll be obliging. Thanks for sharing this. Have a lovely day. ~:)
I think I just drooled on my keyboard - yum yum does that pizza look delicious!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your header woes- I never change mine so not sure if my edit button is there or not. I may go in later and check and get back to you but right now I need to eat (totally your fault, haha.)
Have a great weekend. Hugs.
Hi Vee, I LOVE those cute aprons!! I've actually just purchased one from Laura at "Decor to Adore," and I can't wait for it to get here. Love me some aprons. ;) Thank you for telling us about your header, because I had noticed the layout page is different and I haven't been able to add new blogs to my sidebar. Google makes me so mad I could stomp with the way they arbitrarily change things around with no warning or explanation to us, and we're left in the dark to try and figure things out. Grrrrr. They're just so high-handed about everything. I hope you get a reply from them that is halfway helpful -- please keep us posted. I'm off to look at my layout page again. :)
ReplyDeleteYour pizza looks and sounds yummy, my friend. Have a great weekend!
Big hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
Aha! I am just now putting 2+2 together! I can not add any new blogs either. Your description of the way they do things is spot on, my friend! High-handed, intrusive, and unnecessary, which reminds me of other situations. Thanks for saying so.
DeleteOh no, too bad on the edit button, Vee. We don't like when things change and someone once told me that Google is a bully. Your pizza looks so tasty and I remember that Pampered Chef recipe from back in the day. The aprons are darling. What a fun project they are.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a happy weekend!
My header is finally in season again. For me it was losing all the headers I'd already made in a computer crash and then finding Picasa had saved only a few in my files. I need to make up some more but I don't think of it when the computer is free and then when I think of it it is not free and well, at least my current header is summer-ish.
ReplyDeleteThe last time I made changes to the format, I kept the old format up in another window so I could save it. Because I have had glitches too many times. One blog friend accidentally deleted her blog when reformatting!
Oh my lips are smacking together as I read the ingredients for your Friday night treat! Love the apron shot, too. The glitch is a bother and I hope it resolves. I'm beginning to try to get anxious about the week ahead especially the weather forecast for the wedding...99 degrees!! Say it's not so...
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend Vee!
Good luck with the edit button Vee. I have enjoyed all your headers over the years. Our lilacs have still not bloomed...sorry to say....
ReplyDeleteI am sorry about the blog problems. The photos give me fits these days. I love seeing your aprons. The pizza sounds so good. John treated himself to a jar of blue cheese stuffed olives recently. He loves the black olives like you used too. It is too hot to turn on the oven these days for sure. Hope you have a nice evening.
ReplyDeleteYep, Blogger is at it again. No comment on that from me at the present time--as it wouldn't be to pretty. Pizza sounds good, we usually have it on Fridays too (not today though; ham and scalloped potatoes). I like the apron, very pretty. Blessings
ReplyDeleteOh no! Do you only see one? =D
DeleteI haven't revamped blogger in a while Vee but I know recently I was having problems with my post showing up. They would but sometimes it took a couple of days! I love veggie pizza! My precious Motherinlove used to make it for us. Love the aprons. CRAFTY gal you are! Have a good weekend. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteVee, the blogging issue scares me. I still have an edit button, but my GFC button still doesn't work. When I went to change something in a recent draft I lost the whole post! Frustration city here!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your adorable aprons. They would put a smile on any one's face. Nice combination of fabrics and colors. I like the sound of your additions to the cream cheese in your Friday pizza! ♥
I checked to see if mine was still there....and it was. If I figure anything out, I'll let you know. Love your pretty aprons. I wear an apron every time I go in the kitchen and I like the full apron best. Enjoy your weekend. Don't come to Florida! It's WAY hotter than you like! lol Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteYour header changes are always so great and keep in line with the seasons. I admire that. Mine do not.* I'm sorry you're having troubles with *logger.
ReplyDeleteLove that cool pizza - I had it for the first time just a couple of weeks ago. Your aprons are lovely!
Sorry I cannot be of any help. I hope that you can get it all figured out. xx
ReplyDeleteMy sweet hubby has been looking in to your *logger issues. He suggested that you log out of your account, wait an hour or so and then log back in. That might refresh the page and bring it back. Hope it works! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteWorth a try!
DeleteYikes! I was planning on changing my header photo tonight (before I posted but I forgot!) but maybe I'll wait. I don't need any thing bad happening that will frustrate me to no end. The pizza looks delicious. I probably have that PC recipe somewhere too but never make it. The aprons are super cute! You did a beautiful job on them. Just sweet. I'm sure the receiver will whip up some great treats while wearing it. Have a wonderful weekend Vee and John. Hugs. Pam
ReplyDeleteWe love the veggie pizza over here too!!! I usually add dill weed to the "frosting" and a few drops of hot sauce. You are scaring me with your header problems - I'm afraid to try changing mine - eek!
ReplyDeleteI love your aprons! How cute... yep, your header leaving the page is why my hearts are still ON my page! I lost all of it when I tried to change it, so... hearts it is! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the aprons! As for Blogger, you'll notice that I never change my header. I am paranoid about messing up anything. Somehow, that fear does not apply to adding gadgets. But header? Nope. That's why you'll see fresh red cranberries in the dead of February winter. But anyway...I do feel for you. I hate it when those weird things happen or when places like Blogger or Etsy or PayPal decide to change things. Why, oh why? And speaking of PayPal, when I typed in a search for 'papal encyclical Francis', it changed it to PayPal.... Sigh. So clever...and annoying. So, I hope you have a wonderful weekend and that the edit button will return when you awaken tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI love the aprons and what YUMMY looking pizza! I do like your new header, very comforting to look at.
ReplyDeleteAw, heck Vee - sorry about your header! Bummer. I changed my picture the other day and didn't have a problem, bit I think you were pointing to a gadget maybe... Pizza looks good. That'd be good for breakfast, too, but I might use a layer of scrambled eggs on top of the cream cheese, and then hot salsa over the whole she-bang. Whadaya think? Have a good weekend, Vee & John!
ReplyDeleteNo, I am pointing to the missing edit button on my header in design and then layout. How do you change your header?
DeleteI don't know if this is true of your blog, but on mine, just on the regular blog, there is (and has been for years) a little tools icon on the lower right corner of the header, and also on everything in the sidebar, etc. When I want, for instance, to add a new blog to my blog list, I just click that little tools icon at the bottom right corner of the blog list and it takes me right to the place to do so. Might be worth a try if those little tools show up on yours.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have a little edit icon on every feature except the header. It just isn't there.
DeleteMy blog is a mess because I tried to make a few minor changes two weeks ago! Of course this week has been a wash due to being at the hospital so much!
ReplyDeleteI love the aprons! They look great! Oh, and your pizza! Yum!
Deanna
Love the aprons! So cute.
ReplyDeleteFunny...but Friday nights are usually pizza nights over here as well. I really like the Pampered Chef's cold pizza recipe...originally got it from a neighbour in the nineties.
I changed my header a few days ago. No issues here. Just checked and the edit button is still there.
Enjoy your weekend. (And 'hi' to John from both of us.)
I hope Blogger returns your edit button! I've always admired how many things you do with your blog, while I do so little........And I'm definitely going to try that recipe for the base of the cream cheese pizza!
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hate Blogger has messed with your edit button. Not nice at all. Hopefully you will have a solution sooner rather than later.
ReplyDeleteThe cool pizza sounds delicious. As warm as it has been it will be a welcome addition to our meager menu. I just adore your aprons. so pretty and definitely practical.
Enjoy your weekend!
Jen
The aprons are for a six-year old and a three-year old. The kitchen tools are real tools, but kid-sized.
DeleteYou will love the fresh taste of a Cool Veggie Pizza! We have one piece left and there may be a fight over it!
I also have admired the way you change your header around and all that you do with your blog ... I have never changed my header! Hope your edit function returns soon!
ReplyDeleteYour response to ohfiddlededee answers my question about where you obtained enormous kitchen towels!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha...these tea towels are the vintage-style ones available at Joann's and such places. Yes, most posts are a continuation of a former one so if a reader backs up all becomes clear. Sometimes, and I hope that I provide the link, it's going in reverse a year or more. The instructions are in the link provided in this post. Fun project for the grandgirlies.
DeleteI am always impressed at the lovely headers you seem to change with such ease. I was just thinking I should bring mine from spring to summer. I always find it to be a challenge I don't look forward to. I'm thinking I better leave it alone... if you are having problems, I can only imagine the mess I might make. I did pop over to see if I had an edit button. I do. However, I see new things since I last looked at layout like "cross column" add a gadget???
ReplyDeleteI've been making a variation of that veggie pizza for more years than I can count. The younger generation of my extended family insists on it being present for every get together. They don't care a bit about what else is on the menu, but the pizza is non-negotiable.
Your little aprons are absolutely adorable. Would love to see the recipients modeling them.
Hi Vee :)
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, my layout has been missing labels. It's gone... poof! I hope they figure out what they're doing soon and fix it.
I've never heard of a cool pizza, but it certainly looks delicious. Especially since we're having record breaking heat. It's 100 in the shade here.
Your aprons are darling!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
xo,
rue
I'm sorry you are having these issues with your blog...it can be so aggravating! I haven't checked my dashboard lately...I guess I better do that before I plan to change my header again...I always do this holding my breath anyway! I sure hope you get this figured out soon. The pizza looks and sounds really great....I would love it but hubby dearest would not I'm afraid...he is somewhat of a veggie snob, He loves salad but that is the extent of eating raw veggies. I am sure it is refreshing on a hot summer evening. And the aprons are beyond adorable...what a great job you did one them! Enjoy the rest of the weekend :)
ReplyDeleteI took the weekend off so am very glad that you and your readers have given warnings about blogger problems. I noticed it last week, but it must have gotten worse. I'll find out later when I try to blog.
ReplyDeleteThat's my kind of pizza! My other half wouldn't think so, but in all these years, I've never been able to get him to eat the way I do. The aprons are wonderfully cute! I'm thinking you never sit and relax. I think I'm on-the-go all the time, but you've got me beat.
