Photo Challenge 15–24

Here are my Photo Challenge Offerings for the week. It will become obvious that I was out early this morning trying to get caught up starting with the first one. That sign (aka bumper sticker) may be one of the things holding John's truck together. I think that the last time the United States was truly united was in the days following September 11, 2001.

15. sign

16. and 17. indoors and on the shelf (totally cheating I know)

 18. insect (ugh...they're baaa-accck)

19. black and white (the paint on his hands is blue)

 20. colorful (kinda)

 21. red bee balm

 22. tree (one could infer from this photo that John was not quite as taken with the idea of building a fairy door as I was ☺)

23. ordinary moment (terribly)

24. close-up (I love doing these. For one thing, they always reveal little secrets. I had no idea that my mother's vintage bottle of ink said super Quink. Isn't that cute? Quick and ink combined. I like it!)

Thanks a million for looking at my humble offerings. Do you have a favorite?

It's never too late to join *Kati's July Photo Challenge* if you are a cheat like me. ☺ Personally, I think it would be fun (at this late date) to select the five or ten that appeal most to you and do those. Would that be wrong?

A pleasant weekend to you!

  1. Good Morning, Vee. I do love Fiore eating - a common sight here as well! My fav would be your mom's ink bottle. Often when I take a closeup, I see things I've never noticed before. Hope you two enjoy your Friday.

  2. I love Quink! Maybe I'll work that word into normal conversation today! lol And the fairy door? Hhhmmmm! Lots of cute things to ponder on this morning! Sweet hugs, Diane

  3. Nope...doesn't sound wrong to me! The challenge is a lot of fun. I love having prompts of different things to photograph; it gets me out of my rut and causes me to see things in a new way. I was trying to take a daily photo this time, but I missed yesterday. I didn't take an ordinary moment. I overthought it, and then it was too late. Oh well. And our host, Kati...she took her photo, but was too tired when she got home from work to do the post and today she works both jobs so she'll have some catching up to do herself. It's all good.

My favorite(s)? I love the effect and perspective of the June bug photo, although I am sorry that they are back. The Quink also catches my fancy! And, of course, I love your ordinary moment. Sweet Fiore!

  4. Yes, my favorite is the ink bottle and I'm jealous of the beautiful beebalm. My beebalm is bushy and short. Weird. Wonder if I got a strange variety by accident. I love summertime.

  5. I didn't even know the name of the flower in my header but now I do because of knowledgeable bloggers like you! The ink bottle is great and quinky! Great shot of the insect! I think my favorite is the black and white with the hands. I'll be putting my next group of photo challenge shots up tomorrow. Still stuck on ordinary...

  6. Good morning Vee. My favourite is the tree where the saucer marks the spot. It is perfect for a fairy door and I know John could make a really nice whimsical one to fit in there. He's so handy and could likely come up with a design the fairies would love. (I hope these words dripping of honey help) LOL

  7. Good morning - just stopped by to say hello - and my favorite photo today is the colorful and beautiful flowers.

  8. Love your choices...how fun and my favorite...the black and white...I like his hand. :)

  9. A fun selection, Vee. My favorite is the tree, because the commentary made me laugh. Sometimes the excitement of our ideas just doesn't catch on. I like the perspective of the beetle photo and the great color, but I'm sorry they are back.

  10. Interesting and unique pictures this morning. Have a great Friday.

  11. Vee, I've always liked photos of hands, so I choose John's hand. The hand that will make you a fairy door, I think? I also like your bee balm photo. Have a great weekend. ♥

  12. I so remember using Quink ink at school! The only kind we could get. Great photos - including the fairy door!

    1. You do? You're younger than I am! We didn't have bottled in at school ever! Fascinating.

  13. I like all your offerings but especially that ordinary moment. I have posted all except the close up one which I took this morning. But since that is for today, I'm still not behind. The red bee balm is lovely too.

  14. Quink - that's adorable! Vee - I love your fairy door - so clever. Well done again!

  15. You need a fairy door for that tree! It would be so cute!

I was going to do her photo challenge, but haven't been able to do it, so maybe I could come up with some that I like and do those!

  16. I don't have a true favorite, though I like them all - but esp like the blue "Quink," and the pic of the hands in B and W. But I can easily tell you what I don't like - it's that rose-gobbering Japenese Beetle, a garden's enemy for sure!

They say if you want to go chemical/pesticide free to spray your flowers with a mixture of soap and water.

Last year we had JBs and hubs freaked and we filled sooooo many JB traps. This year we've had so much rain (and I haven't been gardening as I did last year due to my boot) I just don't know if they're bad or not.

They ravish beauty, though they themselves are gorgeous.

  17. Great set of pictures. Nice close up of the beetle.
I love the red bee balm. We have some growing along the edge of the little stream at HT.

  18. You do well on these photo challenges, Vee. The maco element you used is interesting. I have to learn to zoom in more like this when I take photos. I'm surprised Johm wasn't keen on making a fairy door for the tree fro you! A little project like that should be an easy task for him--tell him I said so!

  19. United We Stand seems so long ago, doesn't it? I always love your photo challenges, Vee. I wish John would make that fairy door (wink--maybe if we needle him more? giggling).

Have a Blessed Saturday, My friend.

  20. That insect is really pretty. What is it? I like the plate in front of the fairy door in the tree. The fairies can roll it over at night to close the hole....right? The old Quink ink bottle is wonderful. I remember them but guess I don't remember the combination of the words - quick and ink - to make Quink. Cute. Enjoy the weekend!

  21. I don't have the pretty bee balm, so that is my favorite of this series. Have a nice weekend!

  22. I cannot abide insects in real life but will admit that they photograph very well :-)

  23. Great finds! We used to use Quink ink at school in our fountain pens! xx

  24. I just might do that, Vee. I always enjoy seeing your selections for this challenge.

  25. Well, you are all caught up! You did well. Smiling at the black & white ...and BLUE. Good job.

  26. Loved the photos, Vee, I am sorry I didn't join this meme, it looks like so much fun! Hope all is well in your corner.

  27. I always enjoy your photos and commentary. Especially love that bottle of ink. I wonder if the Quick means it dries fast? Do you remember blotters? We had to write with fountain pens once we started cursive in second grade. But I digress. Great insect shot!

  28. My favorite is the ink bottle, I love that color of blue and such a cute label :)

  29. Oh I love your photos and couldn't help but laugh about the fairy door! Your man and my man sound a lot alike. My man would have been rolling his eyes at the thought of it! Do you host the photo challenges Vee? My problem would be getting around to doing one daily. I might could do one daily but dang...ain't got time to post daily for sure! Have a great day. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  30. Those were so fun Vee! I love seeing things through your lens. I think I might have the same fairy door saucer as you have!

  31. I think I would have loved a video of your conversation with John regarding the fairy door. Your solution to the problem made me smile.
I only saw a few Japanese Beetles here this season... thankfully.
Quink is a charming name for that quick drying ink.

  32. Oh Vee, I somehow lost you in my blog list, and so appreciate your faithful comments. I loved your photography today. I think that's a very cute fairy door. About the ink.... I've used that very kind of bottled ink, years ago when I had a obsession with fountain pens. Have a great week Hugs.
