It's a fun weekend as I am preparing for Laurel's birthday. (Laurel is my daughter.) I was up early and off to do my errands. On the advice of Pam (Playing With My Camera), who on Instagram reminds us to get out and enjoy the scenery, I remembered to grab the camera on the way out the door.
I am told that we are in peak week; I am not buying it. There are glimpses of color hither and yon, but we have much more to come. I soon discovered that I would not be able to pull the car over every few seconds to capture the sights. So, on the way back from "the city, " I decided to pull into the cemetery and check on my secret stash of bittersweet. Here are a few of the photos I took standing along the fence looking down into the ravine and around the cemetery.

That's such a pretty colored mum - reminding me of just how lovely pink and yellow are together.
Happy birthday to your Laurel - this is also a busy birthday month for our family, including moi. I almost don't want to celebrate mine as I'm far too old now, sigh!

No color here at all. We usually don't get colored foliage until November. Yours is gorgeous. I love the red also.

ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos and descriptions...I loved them! Your colors are so amazing, I've always wanted to go back east to see the colors! My husband was working in Tennessee years ago and I was able to go to the, Smokey Mountains in October...breathtaking for sure!!

The eastern part of the continent has such brilliant colour - far more than we do in the west. I always enjoy seeing photos of fall colour, and how beautiful the trees are turning in your photos. Colour is just beginning here, too.

Your color is looking beautiful! We have not had any color yet here. They are saying it is about 2 weeks late. Even at 6000 feet above sea level at the top of the mountains, color is "spotty". Today it was 87 degrees....

ReplyDeleteOur color is not at peak here yet ... maybe next week. I hope so, as we have dear friends from Nevada who have never been here in the fall and will be in NH and coastal Maine, Monday through Thursday. I'm praying the colors will be just beautiful for their visit.
Crimson is my very favorite as well. I haven't checked "my" bittersweet yet, but expect it is much the same as yours.

One of the lovely things about reading blogs is that I get to see such gorgeous autumn color before, during, and after I have it in my corner! Here, it is mostly green still, although I did notice a handful of orange leaves on a Bradford pear tree in my front yard today. It's coming . . .

ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! You have some lovely color...beginning...but I agree, you have a long way to go. We have nothing bu tired, dust, greenish gray foliage on most trees. I cannot even walk outside without get bombarded with tiny little mosquitoes....all of the rain brought about by Hurricane Florence unleashed a whole new bunch of them....it's terrible! And I have never seen bittersweet in that form. I have only seen it after it has shed it's leaves and the berry clusters are shriveled and popped open with their lovely oranges and reds showing. Gee, I wish I had a secret stash...they are very few and far between around here. Happy new week to you!

I really do miss the fall colors (and the fall cool). I admit, I giggled when I read "My feet got wet...the things I do for this blog" ... I think we all can relate!

Although I don't like the thought of winter coming, I do LOVE the fall with its fabulous colour display... Enjoy every breath-taking view!

Loving your ketchup, mustard and relish tree! LOL! You crack me up. I loved the pictures dear lady. Our temps are just now getting in the 80's. YAY...I will take it! ReplyDeleteWe have very little color here this year, due to the storm shedding the trees somewhat. my Bradford pears are so confused they are blooming again, and another storm is lurking in the gulf coast with prediction of coming our way.

You must go back and get some of the bittersweet once it ripens :) Hoping the gorgeous colors last for several weeks, it always seems to me that they don't last nearly long enough! ReplyDeleteFeet wet...the things we do. I'm finding that it's hard stopping to take photos on our road because there are no turnouts or room to park without getting hit by a logging truck...sigh. I don't want to trespass and get shot at either by pulling into some farmers driveway. Glad you stopped to enjoy the color you found. I'm hoping that two of the trees in our back acreage are Larch's. They color beautifully in October. Time will tell. Happy belated birthday to Laurel! Finally have a break from unpacking boxes and I'm trying to catch up with all my favorite blogs.
